Hogwarts: Becoming the White Lord from Breathing
Chapter 6 Potions and Spells
Chapter 6 Potions and Spells
Mr. Pepper's Pharmacy
This is a seemingly inconspicuous little shop with an old wooden sign hanging in front of the door. On it are written "Mr. Pepper's Magic Potion" in golden letters. The handwriting is a little blurred, but it is still full of mystery.
The atmosphere inside the store is completely different from the outside.
The air was filled with the mixed scent of herbs and spices. The walls of the entire shop were lined with various bottles and jars. Several magic lamps floated in the air, emitting soft light, illuminating those extremely strange-looking potions and items.
As Damon entered the store, a low voice rang out:
"Welcome, guest. How can I help you?"
An old wizard with silver hair and sharp eyes poked his head out from behind the counter. He was holding a thin feather pen in his hand and seemed to be recording something.
"Of course." Damon nodded. "I need a few bottles of potions that can harmlessly control Muggles, and another potion that can cure Muggle diseases."
Mr. Maer Pepper looked at Damon carefully and was attracted by his noble aura. Without any doubt, he turned around, took two bottles of potion from the shelf and placed them in front of Damon.
One bottle is dark purple with a slight sheen.
The bottles were tightly sealed, giving them a strange golden color.
"Transfiguration Hypnotic Potion. After drinking it, Muggles will fall into a hypnotic state and obey the first person they see. It lasts for four hours. One bottle can be used against Muggles five times, and only six drops are needed each time."
"Phoenix feather essence can restore the vitality of a Muggle's body and make a Muggle who is seriously ill in bed feel like a new person. The price is that the Muggle will feel extremely tired."
"Forty gold galleons for the two together."
Damon raised his eyebrows and continued:
"I'll take them all, and get me three bottles of Muggle invisibility potion."
thump.
Three bottles of potions with transparent bodies emitting a faint blue glow were handed to Damon.
"Fifty gold Galleons in total, honestly."
Damon paid the money readily and put the potion into the potion bag given by the boss.
After leaving the pharmacy, Damon rushed to Flourish and Blotts Bookstore without stopping.
Knowledge is power. As a Chinese, he has always believed in this, and now that he has become a wizard, it is even more so.
The bookstore provides a delivery service, and Damon ordered more than a dozen commonly used books, including "The Elementary Guide to Transfiguration" by Emery Switch, "The Book of Spells" by Miranda Goshawk, "Magical Theory" by Adelbe Waughlin, and so on.
However, he paid for most of these things in advance and had them sent to school by owl after he enrolled. Before he got a backpack with an invisible extension charm, he couldn't carry so many things.
After leaving Flourish and Blotts, the remaining things were not worth Damon's visit. As a newborn wizard, he did not have the peace of mind to focus on entertainment.
After returning to the orphanage, Daemon immediately began to read the Book of Spells and The Standard Book of Spells: Elementary, also written by Miranda Goshawk.
Among them, the Book of Spells is the first textbook on magic theory written by Miranda Goshawk, and the Standard Book of Spells is her improved version.
Damon wanted to see the difference between the two changes, and whether he could master some magic through self-study?
He decided to start with the simplest and safest spells, according to three criteria
Pronunciation, Movement, Intention.
When casting a spell, the wizard must not only ensure the correct pronunciation and smooth movements and gestures, but also ensure that the intention is clear.
Intention is the most subtle, yet crucial factor in casting magic, and the root cause of Harry Potter's metaphysical combat power.
Damon closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and let it out slowly.
Then, he opened his eyes and followed the spellcasting instructions in the book, waving his wand at a stain on the wooden table.
"Scourgify!" The wand vibrated slightly, and the stubborn stains that had stayed on the table for who knows how long faded away quietly.
"Okay, it worked on the first try."
Damon's eyes lit up and he felt a great sense of accomplishment in his heart, which could not be bought with any amount of pounds.
"Practice a few more times to consolidate it thoroughly!"
Damon was about to wave his wand again at the ink on the ground that he had not been able to wipe clean.
[Ding! Detected that the host successfully cast a spell for the first time, opening the branch - Charms]
[Spells - Level 1 (Beginner)] 36/100
[You can master the most basic spells and understand the pronunciation and gestures of spells. Although you can cast basic spells, the effects and duration are relatively short, and it is easy to make mistakes when casting.]
"Has the branch been activated again?"
Damon's eyes lit up, and he looked at the LV1 spell and tried to figure it out.
"There are 36 points of progress from the beginning. Is this consistent with my own understanding?"
After thinking about it, Damon directly invested 64 magic points into it.
[Charms - Level 2] 1/1000 (Apprentice)
[You will become more familiar with and master the use of spells, and the success rate and effectiveness of spell casting will be significantly improved.]
As the points were added, Damon's mind resurfaced with the memory of his previous use of the Clearance Spell, and he gained some new understanding in his mind, but this could not immediately significantly improve his spell-casting level of the Clearance Spell.
Damon understood instantly that the level of spell learning on this system was equivalent to improving his ability to learn spells, and what it improved was his understanding and aptitude.
Perhaps it's because he has an adult's soul in his body, so he can't help but use rational thinking to deconstruct magic, so his initial understanding of spells is so low.
Well, that must be the case!
The hot July slowly transitions to the rainy August.
In the blink of an eye, a month passed.
Damon locked himself in the room and practiced simple spells day after day, never getting tired of it.
During this period, his system level has been increased to level seven, and his spells have been increased to level four. Not only has his magic power reached an incredible level, he has also fully mastered the spells of grades one and two.
Damon suspected that he was probably a senior Auror and his magical level was comparable to his.
But one's own family knows one's own business. Having magic power but no ability to control it is no different from water-injected pork. It would be a complete failure in a magic duel with others.
Next, Damon decided to slow down and focus his remaining magic points on spells and transfiguration.
I don't know if it was because he didn't chant the spell when he turned the feather into a pen before, but he just triggered this talent recently.
[Transfiguration——LV1 (Beginner)] 58/100
You can perform simple object transformations. Transformations only involve basic shape changes and do not involve complex functions and features.
Similarly, he only started at level one, which meant that his talent in Transfiguration was not very good, but Damon didn't care. He just needed to spend some time to improve it.
His first year at Hogwarts was quite safe, and he had plenty of time to develop.
In the last seven days, Damon used the potions he had purchased earlier to find the largest local hospital. He used a transformation hypnotic potion to persuade the nurse to hand over the patient list and brought him to the seriously ill Duke of Westminster.
After using the transformation hypnotic potion to quietly change the other party's cognition and increase the other party's trust in himself, Damon spent a little time and used the essence of Phoenix Feather to cure the other party's serious illness, successfully obtaining the ownership of twenty factories and a Barclays Bank black gold card.
From now on, he would have a steady flow of pounds coming into his account, so he wouldn't have to worry about Galleons anymore.
Damon walked out of the hospital and looked at the iron-gray clouds rolling up on the distant skyline, feeling very good.
"Then all that's left is to enroll in Hogwarts and focus on studying magic."
