Hogwarts: Becoming the White Lord from Breathing
Chapter 23 Potions Class
Chapter 23 Potions Class (Part )
There’s nothing much to say, just fill it up in batches.
First, there are 100 magic points.
[Potions - Level 2 (Apprentice)] 1/1000
[You can gain a deep understanding of the principles of potion science and complex potion recipes, partially understand the ratios of advanced medicinal ingredients in potions, and learn to adjust the effects of potions according to different needs.]
Despite what the introduction said, Damon felt that no knowledge was generated out of thin air in his mind. However, he subconsciously flipped through the book in front of him, and felt that the combinations that he had previously found difficult to remember and understand suddenly became simple and easy to understand.
In other words, adding branch skills will improve his talent and understanding, rather than directly instilling knowledge into him?
Damon raised his brows slightly, became more interested, and added more.
[Potions - Level 3 (Advanced)] 1/10000
[You can quickly master the recipes and production of most potions with a very high success rate. You can create very precise potions according to different needs, and even fine-tune and innovate based on the effects!]
carry on.
[Potions - Level 4 (Expert)] 1/1000000
[You can master the making of some very complex and powerful potions, have the ability to research and innovate potion formulas, have a deep understanding of rare and dangerous herbs, and can efficiently use these herbs to make potions, and even create some legendary potions! ]
Damon looked at the familiar string of zeros behind the number 1, raised his brows slightly, and did not add any more points.
He had a feeling that the fourth-level expert in Potions would allow him to learn how to brew most of the potions in the world, such as the famous Felicis Felix, or the Love Potion and the Polyjuice Potion that Hermione had started brewing in her second year.
"Damon, can I sit here?"
Damon raised his head slightly and glanced at the empty seat beside him. Neville was standing beside him tremblingly, holding a Potions textbook in his hand, his eyes revealing a bit of uneasiness and anxiety.
Even though they had been roommates for five days, Neville still seemed as shy as ever and was very polite in his words.
"Yeah, of course."
Neville breathed a sigh of relief, quickly placed his bag on the table, and then carefully sat down in the chair. It was obvious that he was a little nervous.
Just when Neville wanted to say something, Professor Snape rushed in from outside the door like a bat.
He took up the roll and started calling the names at the beginning of the class. When he called Harry's name, he paused. "Oh, yes," he whispered, "Harry Potter, this is our new and famous person."
There was a scoff from the crowd, and then he called out Harry's name, which made him a little worried.
"Ron Weasley."
no respond.
"Ron Weasley!"
Snape seemed to have not expected that someone would be late for the first class, and his expression turned extremely ugly.
At this moment, a panting voice suddenly came from outside the door - the red-haired Ron came late, obviously delayed somewhere else.
"You're late, Weasley." Snape's voice became colder in an instant. He slowly put down the list, with a hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth.
"You know, Weasley," Snape continued, his voice scornful, "punctuality is one of the most basic rules of Hogwarts. If you can't even observe basic classroom etiquette, I'm afraid you're doomed to fail Potions."
Ron's face suddenly turned a little red. He was obviously angered by Snape's words. He hurried to an empty seat in the classroom and sat down, trying his best not to look at Snape's cold eyes.
"You are here to learn the precise science and art of potion making."
"Since there's no foolish waving of wands here, many of you won't believe in magic. I don't expect you to truly appreciate the beauty of a simmering cauldron emitting white smoke and fragrant aromas, or the magical power of the liquid flowing through people's veins, which can make their hearts and minds wander. I can teach you how to enhance your reputation, brew glory, and even prevent death - but only if you are not the fools I often encounter."
It was a very beautiful opening speech, which immediately silenced the students in the audience, but Damon smiled silently.
Prevent death? That's a big boast, but the professor's beloved Lily couldn't be saved.
Snape's eyes, sharp as knives, scanned the group of students. He obviously noticed Damon's chuckle.
"Damon!" Snape said suddenly. "If I add powdered narcissus root to an infusion of wormwood, what will I get?"
Ron had just sat down and collected himself when he looked at Harry. They both saw what was in each other's eyes - Damon was going to be in trouble.
At this moment, Damon, who they thought was about to be unlucky, stood up and answered seriously:
"Narcissus root powder and mugwort can be combined to make a very powerful sleeping pill called Life and Death Water. In case of overdose, it can bring a person to the brink of death."
"Just tell me the short answer, instead of trying to be smart and saying something I already know, Mr. White!"
Snape's face was gloomy, as if Damon's correct answer did not make him feel any better.
"Well, White! If I asked you to find me a bezoar, where would you go?"
"Beef stomach, sir."
As if on purpose, Damon's answer was extremely short. Despite this, he still added the word "Mr." at the end, which made Snape look at him strangely.
"Oh? It seems we caused a brief commotion, even overshadowing the savior, Mr. White. He's quite a Potions genius, isn't he?"
He paused, and suddenly spoke in a calmer and more serious tone:
"In that case, I think you should be able to answer this question - if you add refined mandrake root to moongrass extract and stir it rapidly at too high a temperature, what will you get?"
This question obviously goes beyond the basics and involves the more difficult preparation of potions.
Hermione, who had kept her hand raised high during the two Q&A sessions, silently lowered it. Damon frowned and hesitated, relying on his guess about the workings of the medicine.
"You will get an extremely unstable potion that will evaporate quickly and release deadly poisonous gas. This poisonous gas will put those who come into contact with it into a poisoned coma and may even cause suffocation."
"You hesitated?" Snape hid the flash of surprise in his eyes, and his gaze became sharper in an instant.
"I am really disappointed with your answer, Mr. White." He paused, almost feeling the tense atmosphere among the students in the classroom. Then, Snape spoke slowly, his voice low and intimidating:
"Potions is a discipline full of precision and detail. The addition of each ingredient, the control of temperature, and even the timing of administration all determine the success or failure of the final result. Your hesitation is not what Potions needs."
"Damon, Gryffindor will lose one point for your slow wording!"
"Okay, sir."
Damon smiled and sat back, not paying much attention.
Snape, the old bat, has this kind of temper. Rather than being angry, he felt that it was in line with his character and a little funny, as if he was interacting with a real NPC.
Damon didn't notice that Hermione behind him had frowned and subconsciously opened her mouth as if she wanted to defend him, but in the end no sound came out.
"He's so calm," Ron whispered to Harry, a hint of shock in his voice. "Professor Snape, I'm scared just looking at him, but Damon isn't panicking at all."
Harry was also a little stunned. He didn't say anything, but just stared at Damon's back.
