Hogwarts: Becoming the White Lord from Breathing
Chapter 193 Ron's Close Encounters with Peter
Chapter 193 Ron's Close Encounters with Peter
The first week of school ended amidst Hermione's hectic schedule and Harry and Ron's complaints.
The new week brought the two brothers their first happy event—Ron made up his mind to sign up for the Quidditch draw.
Harry certainly hoped to compete against Ron, but he had an unspoken ulterior motive—if Ron was chosen, he would have to undergo arduous Quidditch training and wouldn't be able to practice spells—so Harry could catch up with him.
Over the course of two semesters, Ron surpassed Harry in spells and transfiguration, except for 'Expelliarmus', which occasionally made Harry feel anxious.
But he felt that it was the fault of the split soul.
"Damn that split soul, it's affecting my thinking again!"
Harry remembered Damon's advice—that times like these were the best times to practice Occlumency.
After using magic with this belief, he felt much better.
In the second week of the new semester, Damon received a gift ahead of time—from the Weasley twins.
The two's business was thriving, and they wanted to give Damon a share of the profits as soon as possible, but Damon refused, saying, "Invest these profits back into the business. I believe in your abilities, and you will definitely give me a commensurate return in the future. This is not a small profit for now."
This deeply moved the two of them—they were incredibly busy, and at Damon's insistence, they also had to keep up with their studies, so much so that when they saw Hermione, they felt an unusual sense of kinship.
The two brothers had a poor average grade last semester, and they really tried their best to maintain this not-so-good grade.
Although, according to their plan, they were already considering dropping out of school.
Pranks are their hobby, career, and life ideal; academics are not.
Out of respect for Damon, the two brothers are still persisting.
"Boss, happy new semester—to thank you for your continued support—"
"—We have decided to reveal the greatest secret to our success to you."
The two of them sang in unison in front of Damon, and Fred waved his hand and pulled something out of his cloak, placing it on an empty table.
It was a large, square, very old parchment, with nothing written on it.
“I have to emphasize to you how precious this item is—even if it were given to you, George and I hesitated because it was too much to bear.”
"Anyway, we've memorized its contents. This thing should have even more uses in your hands, boss—actually, we wanted to give it to you last semester, but we were just too busy and couldn't focus on it."
"Thank you. Could you please explain this treasure to me?"
Damon smiled and picked up the parchment in front of him. He knew what it was—the Marauder's Map made by Harry's father and the others.
"Of course, George is at your service, boss!"
George took out his wand and gently touched the parchment, saying:
"I solemnly swear that I have done nothing wrong."
Fine, spiderweb-like lines of ink immediately appeared from where the wand had just touched. These lines merged and intersected, extending to every corner of the parchment; then, words began to appear at the top of the parchment, large, curved green letters:
A supplier of aids for magical pranksters.
Gentlemen Moonface, Wormtail, Bigfoot, and Fork.
Proudly presenting the Marauder's Map.
This map meticulously depicts every detail of Hogwarts Castle and its various locations.
However, what is truly noteworthy are the tiny ink dots that move along the map, each marked with a name in tiny letters.
Damon leaned in for a closer look and saw a small ink dot in the upper left corner indicating that Professor Dumbledore was pacing in his study; Filch’s cat, Mrs. Lorris, was wandering around on the third floor, while the mischievous ghost Peeves was jumping around in the prize room.
Meanwhile, the seven secret passages within the castle were also revealed on the map—which, in the eyes of the Gemini, was their greatest treasure. However, this held little appeal for Damon—he already moved freely within the castle.
At this moment, his curiosity stemmed more from his interest in the Marauder's Map itself—he certainly had the skills to create such a magical item, but he, a muscle-bound guy, might not necessarily have the quick thinking to do it.
“Moon face, worm tail, big feet, pointed fork,” George sighed, patting the map’s title. “We owe them so much.”
"Noble man, working tirelessly to help a new generation of law breakers," said Fred solemnly.
“Yes,” George said cheerfully, “don’t forget to wipe it off after you’re done—”
“—Otherwise, others will see it,” Fred warned.
“Just tap it lightly again and say, ‘Prank over!’ and it will become a blank parchment again.”
"Okay, thank you. I will make good use of this treasure."
After thanking the two men with a smile, Damon first looked up two names.
'Peter Pettigrew', 'Ron'.
Then he saw two names that were completely pasted together.
His expression suddenly turned amused and delighted. The next moment, the surrounding scenery changed, and he found himself at the top of Ravenclaw's tower, quietly contemplating.
Ron's pet mouse, Scabbers, is Peter Pettigrew, and is also recorded as Wormtail on the Marauder's Map.
This is a cowardly and weak person, a fence-sitter who only knows how to curry favor with the powerful.
During my student years, I was fortunate enough to ride on James Porter's coattails and enjoy a fairly glamorous campus life.
Sirius Black, in an effort to demonstrate his trust in his longtime lackey, changed the Potters' confidant from him to Peter, leading to a series of tragedies.
The entire third-grade storyline basically revolves around the relationship between Peter and Black.
With the Marauder's Map, Damon was able to 'accidentally' discover this, thus bringing everything to light.
However, we still need a suitable occasion and time to bring everyone together.
Sirius, are you here right now?
Damon shifted his attention, and then Ron and Peter's names faded from the Marauder's Map, and Black's name appeared in the Forbidden Forest.
"Hiding in the Forbidden Forest?"
Damon tapped his fingers lightly on the stone wall beside his legs as he pondered quietly.
Harry's father James Potter, Sirius Black, and Professor Lupin all had too many grudges and entanglements with Snape, to the point that different perspectives could lead to different interpretations.
But in Damon's view, Harry's father, James Potter, was undoubtedly an abuser.
No matter how far his conflict with Snape went, even if you physically cripple someone, it's nowhere near as painful as mental humiliation.
Snape, who had his underwear pulled down in front of everyone and his beloved by James, had every reason not to forgive anyone.
All Damon has to do is bring some things to light and then put the choice back in their own hands.
That's it.
