Hogwarts: Becoming the White Lord from Breathing
Chapter 185 Three New Teachers
Chapter 185 Three New Teachers
Dumbledore cleared his throat and explained why the Dementors had appeared on the Hogwarts train.
"You all probably know that they searched the Hogwarts Express."
Our school is currently hosting several Dementors from Azkaban; they are here on official business for the Ministry of Magic.
Dumbledore's gaze swept across the crowd and landed on Damon's mocking smile—though he knew Damon wasn't laughing at him, Dumbledore still felt a little uncomfortable.
I thought Caliban Mortos was a radical party that needed to be worried about, and Fudge was the moderate he identified with, but now this moderate is going crazy.
Such a dangerous creature was used to guard the school in order to hunt down criminals.
"They are stationed at all the entrances to this school grounds," Dumbledore continued. "While they are here, I must make it clear that no one may leave the school without permission."
"Dementors shouldn't be fooled by tricks or disguises—not even an invisibility cloak." He added expressionlessly, "Dementors don't understand requests or excuses. Therefore, I warn each and every one of you: don't give them any excuse to harm you."
I'm counting on the student supervisors, and our newly appointed male and female student council presidents, to ensure that no student gets into conflict with the Dementors.
Percy was sitting just a few seats away from Harry, and he straightened his back and gave an impressive look around.
“What’s more pleasing,” Dumbledore continued, “is that this year I am delighted to welcome three new teachers to our team.”
"The first is Professor Lupin, who has graciously agreed to fill the Defence Against the Dark Arts gap."
A few scattered, lukewarm claps rang out in the auditorium, interspersed with questions asked in unhurried voices, "Three new teachers? Why so many?"
But when Damon stood up and clapped loudly, the applause in the entire auditorium soon became as loud as thunder. The first-year students stared in disbelief at this scene and asked one after another who the person who stood up was.
Amidst thunderous applause, Lupin glanced gratefully at Damon—he didn't really care about the students' opinions, after all, it was just a first impression, but Master White's support for him moved him deeply and made him feel more at ease—with Master White's cooperation, his teaching duties should be fine.
“I know him—the Duel Prince—if there’s one person in Hogwarts you absolutely can’t mess with, it’s him! My parents told me before they left home that even if I couldn’t get along with him, I absolutely couldn’t anger him.”
"The Duel Prince? Where does his family come from? Are there nobles in the magical world?"
"This is a respectful title—judging from your expression, you don't seem to believe it. It's alright, it's alright. You'll see him make a move someday. When that time comes, remember to hold your chin, or I'm afraid it will dislocate."
"Look at Snape, he looks absolutely awful," Ron whispered to Harry, a hint of schadenfreude in his voice.
Harry glanced over instinctively, and the expression on Snape's thin, sallow face could only be described as distorted. "I hope Professor Lupin has good luck; Snape will definitely find a chance to make things difficult for him."
Hearing the thunderous applause from the audience and seeing the boy who had caused such a commotion, Dumbledore's mood, which had been ruined by Fudge, improved considerably.
"As for our second appointed teacher, well, I regret to inform you that our teacher for the Conservation of Magical Creatures, Professor Kettleburn, retired at the end of last academic year so that he could spend more time with his remaining limbs."
However, I am pleased to say that it was none other than Rubeus Hagrid who would fill his vacancy, having agreed to serve as both gamekeeper and teacher in addition to his duties as gamekeeper.
Needless to say, the audience erupted in thunderous applause once again.
Although Damon knew that Hagrid's teaching of the course would cause a lot of trouble, it didn't matter; with him there, nothing would go wrong.
Putting aside the dangers, the magical creatures Hagrid brought were quite interesting. Ron looked at Hagrid, who was laughing heartily, with a worried expression:
"Hagrid asked Harry and me to find a book called 'The Monster Book of Monsters,' you know? That book bites!"
"You mean, he'll cause trouble in class?"
Hermione's eyes widened as she saw Hagrid wiping away tears.
Immediately afterwards, Dumbledore dropped a bombshell.
"The last professor, who is also a teacher I personally respect very much, is the only known maker of the Philosopher's Stone and was once a dueling master active in the arena." Dumbledore's words piqued everyone's interest, and some had already noticed the unfamiliar, rather thin, white-haired wizard in the classroom.
"Let us welcome our new professor of alchemy, Professor Nicolas Flamel!"
boom! ! !
There was no need for Damon to applaud; every student who knew what Nicolas Flamel's appointment meant instinctively stood up and clapped enthusiastically—they were grateful for the two previous 'rehearsals,' otherwise they might have been too stunned to express their respect for this esteemed alchemist!
Nicolas Flamel walked to the center of the classroom seating area, where Dumbledore lightly draped his arm over his shoulder. The legendary old man gently waved to the crowd, his gaze fixed on Damon White, who had also stood up.
That's why he came here to teach at his advanced age—he and Dumbledore had agreed that he would only teach for a year.
A year was enough time for him to lay a solid foundation for Master White's alchemy skills; the rest was up to Master White himself.
“Well, I think I’ve said what’s important,” Dumbledore said. “Let’s begin our meal.”
Suddenly, the golden plates and wine glasses in front of everyone were filled with food and drinks.
Damon eagerly picked up his knife and fork, even casting a digestive spell on himself beforehand—his Michelin-starred chef only ever made bird droppings that could be eaten in one bite, and he hadn't eaten anything good all summer. Now he was ready to feast.
Harry, his two friends, and their companions looked worried and just wanted to finish eating quickly so they could talk to Hagrid and let him know what it meant to be a teacher. They even temporarily put Nicolas Flamel's appointment as the professor of alchemy out of their minds.
But when they found Hagrid, he burst into tears again after only a few words, and Professor McGonagall quickly chased them away, which prevented them from having any proper conversation.
"Password?"
"They're here! They're here!" Percy called from the back of the crowd. "The new password is 'Good Fortune Shines Brightly'!"
Neville's expression was tense as he told himself that with the new semester starting, he absolutely had to remember the password! He couldn't let the stupid mistake of forgetting the password and being locked out happen again!
After climbing the spiral staircase and arriving at the familiar dormitory with five beds, everyone had the same thought in their minds—they were finally home.
Damon lay in bed, thinking about how these happy days had flown by for two school years, and he felt a rare pang of sadness.
Happiness is plentiful, but it is also fleeting.
Two years have passed in such carefree days, and I feel like I haven't even had a chance to fully enjoy them yet.
