Hogwarts: Becoming the White Lord from Breathing
Chapter 175 The Even More Troublesome Soul Splitting
Chapter 175 The Even More Troublesome Soul Splitting
After discovering that Voldemort's main soul was indeed dead, and that the split soul had become the new main soul, Dumbledore was truly troubled.
“Grigovich told me that his shop had lost a 13-inch wand with a blackthorn wood shaft and a core made from the heart nerve of a fire dragon.”
This is a wand maker on par with Master Ollivander.
“Oh—the owners of blackthorn wood are usually proficient in black magic, aren’t they? It seems that our Mr. Split Soul has already picked out a makeshift wand for himself.”
Damon directly voiced the conjecture that Dumbledore had in mind.
His expression was tense, and he even seemed annoyed by Damon's ease:
"He's back! Whether it's the main soul or a split soul, as long as the wizard was nurtured by that ideology, he will become the most evil being in the world. If it were before, he would have already summoned his followers in a grand manner, but now he has resisted the temptation and gone into hiding."
This is a dangerous sign! Tom now realizes he can't defeat the two of us on his own—clearly, his sanity has returned, and we're facing a cunning enemy lurking in the shadows!
“I know what you’re thinking, Professor.” Damon glanced at Dumbledore, his expression turning cold. “Actually, things are worse than you think.”
He seemed to be discussing something unrelated to himself, but he raised the issue to a new level—"Fudge won't admit that Voldemort has returned, the Ministry of Magic won't cooperate with us, and might even sabotage us."
"We're facing a powerful schemer, and at the same time, we have to deal with the assassination of our teammates. The situation ahead is definitely going to be tough, isn't it?"
Dumbledore knew what Damon meant—if Caliban Mortos remained the Auror's ace, or even went further and was promoted directly to interim Minister of Magic during the war, then the entire British wizarding community could be united in one direction.
But that's no longer possible.
Caliban Mortos has 'disappeared'. Although Dumbledore wasn't the driving force behind it, he was never really supportive of Damon's entry into the Ministry of Magic.
Now, this hesitation has turned into a real problem facing him.
Once it was confirmed that Voldemort had returned, the first thing Dumbledore would do was to inform the entire wizarding world—for many ordinary wizards, returning home to find the Dark Mark floating on their roof was a terrifying experience.
Because that would mean that all the family members living at home must have died.
Although Voldemort did not kill for pleasure, he used this method to amplify fear, demonstrate his power, and advance his rule.
But Fudge is still Minister for Magic, and there's no way to remove him—Dumbledore has done so much for him over the years, and now that Fudge's position is firmly established, he can't possibly replace him with a one-man rule.
After all, he has been away from politics for too long—he has rejected countless offers to become Minister of Magic, and his sudden involvement in politics will have a significant impact. Doing so will only give Voldemort more opportunities in the shadows.
Do you have any thoughts?
Despite being teased by his own student, Dumbledore still asked in a kind and gentle tone.
“To be honest, it’s a bit difficult,” Damon said frankly. “I don’t know just how skilled Voldemort is with spells. If he’s focused on hiding, are the two of us even able to see through his trail?”
Now it seems we can only wait for him to reveal himself, and then the two of us can work together to take him down—if he has appeared but we can't find him, then we really can only wait for the right opportunity.
Dumbledore's expression turned worried—this was too passive.
However, he did not refute Damon's words because he did not have a good solution at the time.
“If he only shows up briefly each time and then hides again immediately, we won’t be able to catch him.” “That’s troublesome. What follows will be a long-term cat-and-mouse game. We need to be mentally prepared.”
Amelia's image flashed through Damon's mind—it seemed he should make a few amulets for his friends and family.
"It's been a long time since I've seen you. Would you like to have afternoon tea together? In my office."
Dumbledore extended an invitation to Damon—clearly he intended to discuss the matter further.
At the same time, he also thought about his spy. Should he tell Damon about this?
"Let's go, you take me flying, it's time for my journey to end."
Damon reached out and grasped Dumbledore's hand, then, through his attendants' teleportation, followed him back to the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts.
All the portraits of the principals opened their eyes. Phineas Black, who had already suffered several times at Damon's hands, sensed that something was wrong and refrained from making any sarcastic remarks.
"Lemon black tea, honey cake?"
"no problem."
An old man and a young boy sat facing each other, and remained silent for a while.
Dumbledore, after considering his options, decided to deal with Voldemort and Damon's role in the situation. Damon, meanwhile, was contemplating something as abstract as soul magic.
Soul and time. Even spells related to these two categories are absolutely beyond the realm of concepts.
But they do exist in the Harry Potter world.
Ghosts are the most powerful symbol of the continuation of the soul, and within Hogwarts School there is a Time-Turner—an artifact that can send people back to the past.
Such a terrifying thing was placed openly in the school.
When Hermione reaches her third year, she'll need to use the Time-Turner to take more elective courses—Damon has to admire the peculiar thought processes of the wizarding world when it comes to using such a ridiculous reason to change time.
And can you believe that Percy, the top student, had already experienced this before Hermione?
Even though he's known all along that the time-twister is in the school, Damon has never even considered using it—although he's not an expert on time-related theories, he does have a general understanding of things like spacetime paradoxes.
He was extremely cautious about changing the past—he might only consider time travel when he had lost interest in everything.
As for now, absolutely not.
After Damon leisurely finished his tea and cake, Dumbledore had already roughly come up with a few countermeasures.
"I'm planning to relaunch the Order of the Phoenix. How about you join me?"
"The Order of the Phoenix?"
"It was an organization I founded to fight against Voldemort. It was full of lovely people full of ideals and a sense of justice."
I'll introduce you two when I have the chance.
However, you don't need to get involved in any specific actions right now—after all, you're only in third grade this year.
