Heroes of Might and Magic: Grand Consul

Chapter 270 True Logistics Studies

Chapter 270 True Logistics Studies
Su Mu detoured to the northwest and encountered a group of hellish scouts. However, their movement was strange; they were heading north.

Are they going to ask Karl for help and prepare for a big attack?
Speculation was pointless. Su Mu ordered his strongest swordsman to capture the group and subject them to severe torture.

In fact, the other party confessed without any particularly harsh methods being used.

It turned out that Gelima wanted to send them to scout the situation at the front, but some of the scouts knew how terrifying the Sumu army was. After all, even so many Frost Three-Headed Hounds had died. Wouldn't it be suicide for them to go there?
All the information that needed to be gathered had been obtained. It was obvious that Su Mu and his men were going to continue north, and the orders were so vague that the astute scouts had already guessed the war devil's plan.

So many scouts, under the pretext of rest, retreated northward in groups. They were originally the troops that Karl had corrupted, and their loyalty to Grima was already mediocre. Now that they had run away, there was no problem for them to return and join Lord Karl.

As for those without powerful backers, they dared not leave the ranks. They could only be on high alert, carefully observing the situation at the front. It was highly likely that they had been wiped out.

"What? You're saying that Grimar is planning to flee east, but is only sending you south to your deaths?"

The scout was a heretic, both his legs were broken, and he was covered in blood. He dared not lie: "Sir, what I said is absolutely true. Grimar had this intention, and he has definitely already fled eastward."

Despite his reputation as a war demon, he is actually quite cunning and has no desire to fight powerful heroes before his army is fully formed.

Su Mu unfolded the map of the northern border and placed his hand on Yancheng.

This place is adjacent to the northern border. If we move fast enough, we can leave the North in just half a day. We can also cross the snow-capped mountains and head east, which would take us back to the route the Knight Commander took. By pushing back in reverse, we could even conquer Norton.

Conrad took all his elite troops with him on this westward expedition, leaving very few soldiers behind. If the Hell Legion were to invade, they would be unable to defend against it.

It can only be said that Gelima did have some brains. He didn't want to get burned, and seeing that the northern part of the plains was a trap, he hurriedly jumped out and opened up another battlefield.

The only thing that puzzled Su Mu was, were all the Hell Heroes really that good at running away? Before the main battle even started, these mighty war demons had just retreated with a total of nearly seven or eight thousand troops?

Su Mu guessed that it was most likely related to Karl. Karl was one of the few people who knew Kuraki's true strength. This guy never went south, but instead hid in some corner to cultivate his power, which attracted Grimar to cause trouble. The devil may have seen through this idea, which is why he was in a hurry to move.

"No! We can't let them go!"

The east is currently undefended. If the Hell Legion were to enter, it would be another bloodbath. Moreover, unlike the forces of the Bastion, the Hell forces' erosion of territory is far more thorough. If it were covered by magma soil, it would take at least several years to restore it to habitable terrain.

No matter how much trouble the bastion causes, it will only plant some trees. Even without considering the bonuses to bastion units, it is actually more beneficial to the environment.

"We must stop them!"

Originally, I planned to join forces with Orling to more effectively deal with the invading Hell troops, and then head north to eliminate Karl, this scourge.

Who would have thought that Grima, in his cleverness, thought he could escape, and so he decided not to wait for the Mysterious Prayer and went to act on his own.

Let him see what real logistics science is all about.

"Line up!"

"march!"

With his broadsword sheathed, the strongest swordsman ran across the snowfield, as swift as the wind, covering dozens of meters in just a few seconds.

A whirlwind suddenly swept in, rushing towards the eastern side of the snowfield.

……

Gelima was extremely cautious. After leaving Yancheng, he traveled non-stop without any rest.

After a night of forced march, he finally breathed a sigh of relief when he saw the endless snowfield ahead.

"Sir, we've traveled at least a thousand miles, and everyone's in a bad mood. Shouldn't we scavenge some fat sheep and take a break?"

While stamina wasn't an issue for the Hell troops' march, Grimma's diverse unit composition slowed them down. Furthermore, their newly converted troops were somewhat unstable and desperately needed an outlet for their emotions.

"Give the most unstable corrupted troops to the Deceitful Enchantress, and send out a few more demon hound units to patrol the villages and towns." Upon hearing the devil's orders, the subordinates exchanged glances, their expressions filled with pity.

Generally speaking, newly corrupted soldiers are on the verge of mental and physical collapse and will enter a period of stability. Killing, torturing, or eating can alleviate their terrible state, and the commander will give the newcomers some time to digest the effects of the curse.

But now, being chased by humans and on a high-speed march, his magical power is on the verge of spiraling out of control, leaving him with no choice but to hand over the defective products to those deceitful enchantresses.

It sounds like a very erotic thing, but in fact even the strongest horned demons dare not get close to the Enchantress. If a mission must be completed, four or five demons have to go out at the same time to serve this group of perverted beauties.

Even if your entire body is made of fire, it can extinguish and drain it. Being whipped and dripped with wax is the least of your worries; many more evil spirits are given full-body sensitivity, able to breathe fire non-stop all day long, which even steel bones cannot withstand.

If it weren't for the war demon's strict order for Enchantress to steal food, the entire legion would have been tortured into incapacitation. After all, once they came out of Enchantress's place, they couldn't even stand up straight.

Using these discarded, corrupted soldiers to satisfy the insatiable desires of these demons is a way of making the best use of them.

The remaining demon hounds were also released to forage in the villages and towns. Previously, the bastion troops had only used the Frosttree Road to clear a path during their rapid march. Although they had opened up a main road to Winterfell, they only occupied a few of the most important towns on both sides and did not disperse their forces to massacre the inhabitants. Most of the rural towns were still inhabited by humans.

This gave them an opportunity to replenish their supplies and complete the war ritual before continuing their advance.

Grimma felt he had completely shaken off the human pursuers behind him. After all, he possessed intermediate logistics skills, and his army consisted mostly of advanced units with no units having a speed lower than 6, making him virtually invincible.

Unless the generals of Bearhold have gone mad and are chasing after him day and night with their griffins, even then, he could receive the news, wait in ambush, and launch a surprise attack.

However, he was so disgusted with the human forces that he needed to teach them a lesson.

"Once the Deceptive Enchantress has eaten and drunk her fill, she'll infiltrate the human settlements and seek refuge in the plains. Avoid Kuraki; that's heavily guarded there. Head to Langlit Castle and take down a few buildings to show him what we're made of!"

Grimald revealed a cunning and sinister smile. He had countless ways to bring down this group of greedy fellows; war wasn't just on the battlefield.

Once Kuraki loses a few important figures and several extraordinary buildings, he will realize that opposing him was a grave mistake!

After the hellish soldiers rested for a while, two groups of demonic hounds brought back rations. They set up a makeshift altar and performed a sacrifice.

The cunning enchantress, having devoured them completely, left behind only emaciated skin and bones. Donning a revealing dress and disguising herself as a human woman, she smiled and headed towards the gathering place. Before leaving, she deliberately had the demons scratch their bodies to make them appear pitiful, thus increasing her chances of receiving protection.

The entire unit rekindled its fighting spirit and prepared to launch a major operation in the eastern part of the snowfield.

But to Grima's surprise, one of the Demon Dog teams had not returned.

"What's going on? Is the Frosthound so greedy that it dares to ruin my important plans?"

Before he finished speaking, a dark cloud drifted towards the area from afar, accompanied by a continuous rumble of thunder, as if a violent storm was approaching.

A light drizzle wouldn't stop the superhuman troops from marching, but a rain of blood would be a different story.

Amidst the thunder and lightning, it was revealed that the swordsmen were rushing forward, each carrying the head of a hunting dog, tossing it down the hillside where it rolled and tumbled, a show of defiance against the demon legion.

Gelima was filled with disbelief. He had been traveling all night, so how could someone have caught up with him? Was this person even human?

Su Mu rode the fierce wind and slowly landed on the ground. Looking at the demon army that was completely stunned, he remained calm.

Do you know what a 15-speed strongest swordsman is, combined with advanced logistics skills (governing, 120% land movement ability) for pursuit efficiency?
Even if they had eight legs, it wouldn't have mattered, let alone two.

If they get away, that would be a disgrace to Su Mu.

Su Mu smiled and waved at the devil of war.

"Since you're already here, don't leave!"
