Chapter 249 Rescue
The dark and enclosed low tower is usually where nameless magic apprentices rest and conduct their research.

Lying on the steps was a young alchemist, wrapped in a tattered robe, revealing a pale, bloodless face. It was Sederlos.

A few days after the transaction, Sederos was about to return to his magic tower when he was invited to attend a new type of alchemy conference. It was said that they had developed a special alchemical potion with miraculous effects that no one had ever seen before.

With a deep thirst for knowledge, Cedros naturally wouldn't miss the opportunity. Upon arriving at the Alchemy Conference, he immediately engaged in conversation with the participants and examined the so-called potions.

It's a psychedelic dust with a highly reactive effect; it won't explode unless it's encased in an inert material and sealed with magic.

However, during the visit, a slight accident occurred at Cederos: a crack appeared in the material casing, causing some dust to leak out.

The alchemists present took precautions, and no particular disaster occurred.

Later, several more alchemists came to Seelos and showed him many materials they had never seen before.

Bone Dragon Teeth, Titan's Eye, Nine-Headed Demon Scales, and most importantly, the Shattered Divine Lamp. These materials are usually used when forging powerful combined treasures, yet they unexpectedly appeared together at an ordinary alchemy gathering.

A sorcerer like Sedros, obsessed with alchemy, would naturally be unable to extricate himself from it.

But he soon realized something was wrong. His body became heavy, his thoughts became chaotic, and his magical power showed signs of going berserk.

Sederlos nearly collapsed as his vision went black. He immediately used his Wisdom spell to stabilize his magical power, then rushed out of the gate and headed back towards the magic tower.

However, many mysterious men in black robes followed behind them, seemingly with malicious intent.

In the moment of crisis, instead of returning directly to the magic tower, Sederos went to a special location and used magic to teleport to a temporary safe house, which was this dilapidated school tower.

There are tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of such towers in Vatra. No matter what the other party thinks, they would never imagine that they are hiding in the magic apprentice's tower.

Upon arriving at the location, Cedros immediately took out potions from his ring to erase his tracks and cure his poison, and drank them all down his throat.

In this way, unless the city lord launches a special search, no one else can find him.

He also suspected that the city lord might have been behind it, but considering Beatrice and the style of the Throne of Wisdom, Cedrus immediately dismissed the idea. If the city lord were truly dissatisfied with him, there would be no need for such trouble.

After carefully examining his body, Cedrus finally determined that he had been poisoned.

Recalling the events of the conference, he immediately began to suspect the hallucinogenic dust. But strangely, while many people were affected by the dust, it seemed that no one else was affected except him.

He then recalled those precious alchemical materials; each time he picked one up, the suppressed dust within him seemed to become more violent. At the time, he had only felt the unexpected joy of finding the materials; now it seemed they were the triggers for the toxins!
Cedrus considered himself very familiar with alchemical materials, even those that were rare. However, he couldn't recognize the toxins caused by the dust, and it was even gradually numbing his senses.

He tried everything, including potions and magic dispelling techniques, but nothing worked. Even as his magic faded, his life was rapidly fading away.

Left with no other choice, he could only stop all action, lie quietly on the ground, and think of a solution.

Fortunately, there is always a way out. A day later, the magic apprentices from the tower returned to the place and were surprised to see Cedros lying on the ground.

The reason Sederlos chose this location was because he had actually met this magic apprentice.

This man was named Sham. He came from a poor family and was often discriminated against and bullied after joining the Arcane Empire. By chance, he met the sage Sederlos, who discovered that Sham was exceptionally talented and thus provided him with some resources.

These resources might be insignificant to Sidelos, who has Kuraki's backing, but they are crucial to Sham, who is struggling at the bottom. The two hit it off immediately.

Therefore, Sederos left a special device in the Tower of Learning, but he never expected it would actually come in handy.

Since Cedrus was unable to move, he asked Sham to contact his mentor Beatrice and find a way to rescue him.

To everyone's surprise, Sham was gone for two whole days. Sidelos neither ate nor drank, barely managing to tough it out, but the poison had already seeped into his bones, putting him in grave danger. "Could I have misjudged him?"

Sedros couldn't help but wonder if Sham had betrayed him to gain a reward from the enemy.
It's not impossible; Sham is very poor, and if he were to hand over his information, he would certainly receive a substantial reward.

Just as Sederlos was feeling down, the doors of the Tower of Learning opened, and a beam of light shone in.

The sage was now completely exhausted, with little magic left. He could only see a group of agile, burly men bursting in, which were definitely not his mentor, Beatrice.

He was utterly despondent. Since the other party possessed such miraculous magical poison, they must have an extraordinary background. Once captured by the enemy, he would likely face certain death.

He just wanted to see who was really behind his actions!

Cedrus struggled to open his eyes and stared intently at the person in front of him.

After the other person blocked the light, bent down in front of him, and took off their mask, Cedros showed an expression of extreme surprise.

"Wayne?"

"The lord noticed your disappearance and sent me to Vatra to find you and bring you back to Kuraki."

Sham followed behind Wayne, looking nervous and worried, unsure if the group was truly there to rescue the Sage.

"The Wisdom Library is heavily guarded. Lady Beatrice seems to have gone to the capital, and we can't contact her."

I had intended to inform the other alchemists in the library, but they all seemed to be secretly inquiring about you and offering a high bounty, which I found unsettling. I learned from an apprentice that this group apparently wants to find you or kill you, saying that the Throne of Wisdom doesn't allow someone of your free status to remain in the palace for long.

I was out searching for an opportunity, hoping to await Lady Beatrice's return, but a special suppression occurred in the city. I was almost captured and imprisoned by the stone men. These thieves saved me and inquired about you. Seeing that they seemed to know a lot about you, I brought them here.”

It must be said that Sham was very astute; he realized the situation was not right and did not make any mistakes.

Of course, Wayne's intelligence gathering skills were exceptional, which allowed him to find Cedros before the other side could.

The sage slapped his forehead, realizing that his once clear thinking had become chaotic, and that he hadn't told Sham to be careful of other alchemists when he gave him instructions.

Perhaps he still believed in his heart that the people of the Library of Wisdom still had goodwill towards him, but if there was no inside man, how could Beatrice's departure have coincided with the alchemist's plan to poison him?
The steps are intricately linked and extremely meticulous.

The more Cedrus thought about these things, the more his head ached, and blood even seeped from his ears.

Wayne went up and hugged Cedrus, putting the Ring of Life on his finger to prevent him from facing a fatal crisis in special circumstances.

Wayne took a quick look and concluded that Cedros was suffering from some kind of chronic toxin that even alchemists couldn't cure, so he decided not to try it.

"Just rest and fight off the toxins. Leave the rest to me."

"As long as we return to Kuraki, the lord will surely find a way to heal you!"

Cedrus grabbed Wayne's hand and squeezed it tightly to show his trust.

In his despair, Su Mu sent people from afar to fetch him, giving him hope for life.

Sedlow will remember it.
