Infinite Terror: Infinite Reversal

Chapter 508 An Abnormal World

Chapter 508 An Abnormal World

Just as Qi Tengyi was explaining, a group of people dressed in tight-fitting clothes walked past them. However, when they passed through the barrier of the main god, they were completely unaware that they had taken a long detour, which greatly surprised the newcomers listening to Qi Tengyi's explanation.

Mu Xiang looked out over the barrier and saw the interior of a huge building. Aside from the furnishings, the building had a stadium-like feel, thanks to the enormous skylight overhead, which perfectly matched everyone's stereotypical image of a stadium.

Of course, this skylight was much larger than that of a typical stadium. Standing in the sunlight, looking around, very few people could see the edge of this brightly lit area. Considering the attire of the group of people from before, the answer was obvious... this place must be closely related to the mechs in "Mechanical Dragon".

Mu Xiang pushed up his glasses: "The main god is still somewhat conscientious, sending us directly to a place where it's easy to get involved... but we're still unsure of our identities, so let's wait and see."

Suddenly, a tremendous roar erupted in the distance, and a colossal object rose from inside the building before flying out of the skylight. Although it immediately slowed down and then landed in another direction, it still drew everyone's attention. Luo Gandao, who was still listening to Qi Tengyi's explanation, clung to the invisible barrier, staring intently at the outside: "Am I seeing things?!"

Zheng Zha couldn't help but chuckle: "This is the first time I've ever been to a movie like this... This isn't a horror movie anymore, it's a science fiction movie, and the beginning is much more benign than other movies."

Everyone nodded. The God's Space also offered mechs and similar items for exchange, but those that would be useful to the Central Continent Team were all quite expensive, and none of the team members had anything suitable for such an exchange. In all the team battles the Central Continent Team had experienced, they hadn't seen any other team possess such an exchange… so seeing it in person was still quite novel.

"So...so, the God Realm is real?" Logando asked loudly without turning his head. "This can't be done with modern technology, right?! Mechs!"

Not to mention him, even Cheng Xiao was amazed. The two newcomers, who were initially somewhat skeptical, stared blankly at the other side, and only nodded hastily after Qi Teng finished speaking.

Just then, Luo Gandao cried out in surprise and fell forward, as the barrier of the Supreme God disappeared... The first sci-fi movie experienced by the Central Continent Team, "Mechanical Dragon", officially began!
With a slight push of his feet, Mu Xiang unleashed a surge of power from the ground, supporting Luo Gandao's body and allowing him to stabilize himself in an unnatural posture. Having done so, Mu Xiang turned to the others and said, "Let's go. Judging from the colors of those people's clothes and the emblems in this arena, we seem to be in the Allied Powers."

“As for the sunlight outside… I can sense a problem.” Mu Xiang explained to the group as he walked in another direction, “The sunlight in most worlds is not much different, but the sunlight in this world… is not that intense, as if it has been weakened by something.”

“Nuclear winter,” Liu Xi said. “The movie is set in the 26th century, and fifty years ago a nuclear war almost destroyed humanity… The weak sunlight may be a residual effect of nuclear winter.”

Mu Xiang nodded: "That's right, and judging from the current intensity of sunlight, the intensity of that nuclear war was indeed not weak... That's why the order of the world's reconstruction seems so strange."

The plot of "Mechanical Dragon" is quite simple and clichéd, and the film's worldview is only the tip of the iceberg. What makes this film revered by later mecha works is its special effects style... The film was released in 1990, and the two opposing superpowers, the Allied Powers and the United States of America, clearly correspond to the polar opposites of the Cold War era in which it was filmed.

Aside from its usual smear campaign against a certain former northern power, the film ends with the protagonist from the United States redeeming his vicious adversary, achieving a happy ending for all... This is why I wasn't a fan of the film. Ironically, this film, which extends the Cold War scenario more than five hundred years into the future, failed to anticipate that the prototypes of the villains they created would disintegrate the following year.

For the Central Continent Team, the film's allusions are merely superficial... The real key lies in understanding what kind of world this is. Only by grasping this can they fulfill the mission of the Supreme God.

"In the movies, the so-called superpowers use mecha gladiatorial combat to resolve territorial disputes, claiming it's a peaceful act to prevent war, but in essence, it's a way to divide the world under the guise of entertainment," Mu Xiang said. "Two questions arise: First, are the Allied Powers and the United States a tightly knit entity or a loose alliance? Their disputes extend beyond their respective territories, including those of other countries. Second, what guarantees that mecha gladiatorial combat has global legal validity?"

Zheng Zha's gaze changed, and he pushed up his nose: "Indeed, when I was watching the movie, I found some of the settings unbelievable... What kind of mecha gladiatorial referee committee can make a judgment that affects the ownership of the territory of two superpowers? This is not a mecha gladiatorial referee at all, but a power institution that is above the two strongest countries."

Everyone nodded. As 21st-century Earthlings, even if they weren't keen on following these things, they still knew quite a bit about international news... Whatever institution's ruling, if it's unfavorable to them, they just won't accept it. If any institution really had such coercive power, its strength would be unimaginable.

“Of course, what is incomprehensible to us is commonplace to the people of this world… so obtaining this information is not difficult.” Mu Xiang slowed his pace, and with the tacit understanding of the veterans, the Central Continent team, including the four newcomers, stepped out in neat formation.

At this moment, Mu Xiang slowed down, and the two rows of people behind him also slowed down as Mu Xiang looked at a sign hanging in front of him.

“The place we were at before should have been the new recruit registration plaza of the Mechanical Dragon Training Camp. Judging from the direction of the other people who weren’t uniformly dressed, I guess this is our destination.” Mu Xiang raised his chin, pointing to the sign.

The sign had some kind of Russian-like script, but even without a translator, most team members could still recognize the other script.

Medical examination area.

Cheng Xiao asked with a grin, "What if the guess is wrong? Wouldn't that give us away?"

“If any flaws are revealed, erase the memories of all witnesses…” Mu Xiang’s expression turned cold, and he said.

Zhang Jie smiled and nodded at Cheng Xiao, which made Cheng Xiao chuckle: "Well, your quirky sense of humor is quite good."
