Chapter 95 Remarks on the launch
Although it wasn't the first time, I still couldn't help but feel very excited.
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their support. Welcome to the new readers! And I sincerely thank the old readers for their continued support!
Regarding updates, there will be five updates on the first day of release, three updates on the second day, and two updates per day thereafter. To make the reading experience more coherent, the double updates will not be separated, and updates will be at 6 PM.
Although I had some drafts when I started writing, updating three times a week for two weeks has basically used them all up. I'm not a fast writer, so I try to maintain a stable update schedule and won't be doing any fancy extra chapters.
Please don't make any large donations. I really don't have any content left and can't add any more. I would be very grateful if you could just subscribe and follow along to support me!
Before writing an article, I usually do a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the era, and then determine which elements of the era I want to write about, thereby determining the protagonist's identity and the time period to be entered.
For example, the first book, "The High-Ranking Family of the Han Dynasty," is about how the Northern Expedition of the Eastern Jin Dynasty was a paradox.
First of all, the overseas Chinese faction could not possibly succeed in completing the Northern Expedition and consolidating its gains by relying solely on the support of the southern migrants and some members of the gentry. It needed to obtain a continuous stream of support from the local forces in Jiangdong.
Secondly, the local forces in Jiangdong had neither the need nor the motivation to launch a northern expedition; what they needed more was to enhance their political status.
Therefore, the protagonist is set as a wealthy local tycoon in Jiangdong Wuzhong. Through the protagonist's upward development, the overall resources of Jiangdong society are integrated. Every step forward of the protagonist is an integration of resources, which ultimately unite to promote and complete the Northern Expedition.
The second book, "The Crowned Emperor of Tang," doesn't have much background content. The perspective is mainly focused on the political struggles at the top before and after the Wu Zhou Dynasty. The protagonist is set as Wu Zetian's grandson, which is to show how ethics and human relationships exist and are manifested in the cruel political struggle.
Although some readers criticize Wu Zetian for being cruel and ruthless, saying that she could never believe such nonsense as "please save me," I believe that readers who have read "Emperor of Tang" have their own understanding of this, so I won't go into details here.
The previous book, "The Northern Dynasties' Imperial Achievements," was about how the Han and Hu leaders of the Northern Dynasties continued to seek cooperation and generate new energy to find a new way out after the Hebei Incident.
Of course, history has already provided the answer, so determining the main storyline is not difficult. The challenge lies in connecting and presenting the complex events and people of the later Three Kingdoms period from a single perspective, and in describing and elaborating on these events and people in varying degrees of depth.
This writing assignment was completed quite well. The protagonist's personal actions were basically embedded in the development of the situation in the later Three Kingdoms period. However, because the scenes were too rushed and the twists and turns were limited, the protagonist had to gain enough in the previous scene before he could move on to the next, making the plot seem smooth. This time, I'm writing about the Tang Dynasty again, and it's even connecting to the prosperous Tang Dynasty of the Wu Zhou period that I wrote before. I originally thought it would be easy, but I realized that I had underestimated it when I started preparing.
The elements of the Tang Dynasty are so abundant that choosing which ones to showcase and how to allocate them in the text is driving me crazy.
So the protagonist we finally see is such a peculiar character: a remnant of the Wu Zhou dynasty, the grandson of the famous prime minister Zhang Shuo, the son of a rebel, and so on. Moreover, the protagonist is given so many advantages that the acting is unnecessary; he is an omniscient graduate student of ancient history with countless senior and junior sisters providing information, thus gaining a complete perspective.
Of course, my understanding of the background information also supports this character design. If there are any blind spots, I won't write them. So, everyone doesn't need to question why the protagonist is so capable. If he weren't so capable, many of the underlying details wouldn't be revealed.
Each aspect of the protagonist's identity corresponds to a background element, such as the impact of the personnel of the Later Wu Zhou Dynasty on the politics of the Kaiyuan era, the integration and collision between the new nobles of the imperial examination and the traditional medieval gentry, and the dual competition between family and politics.
In particular, it is necessary to provide a retrospective description of the formation of the An Lushan Rebellion, the evolution of the political landscape in the mid-Tang Dynasty and its correspondence and disconnect with social development, and to analyze some of the more one-sided and biased impressions of the historical elements of the Tang Dynasty that are commonly perceived.
Of course, background is just background; ultimately, the story is what matters. If the background elements mentioned above conflict with the plot, they must be reduced or omitted. The development of the story should not be hindered in order to showcase these elements.
I'm worried that if these elements are removed and not shown in the article, people will suspect that I don't have the goods. So I'm just making a claim here first. In short, the pictures are for reference only, and the actual product shall prevail.
I don't have any grand ambitions in writing. I simply share my reading experiences for people to enjoy in their spare time, and also to make a living.
Enough with the rambling. Finally, I want to thank everyone for their support, and also thank my editor, Ziliang, for helping me refine and revise the plot time and time again. Wishing everyone success at work and a happy life!!!
