My avatar is becoming the final boss

Chapter 319 The Artificial Human, Death at Age 8

Chapter 319 The Artificial Human, Death at Eighteen (Seeking Monthly Tickets)
Inside the Salvation Society's base, the silvery-white prison cells gleamed with cold light, resembling giant iron boxes.

"Who are you?" Ji Minghuan sat in the chair, looking curiously at the woman with a bun hairstyle opposite him. "The mentor actually had someone take over his position?"

Koojiena yawned and smacked her lips. "Didn't your mentor just introduce me to you? The Whale Garden is gone, and so is my job. I have no choice but to come back to the base to do odd jobs."

After saying that, she sighed resentfully, "It's all because those two good-for-nothing princes are so useless."

To avoid inhaling secondhand smoke, Shang Xiaochi covered her head with Ji Minghuan's blanket. Hearing the two talking, she suddenly poked her head out from under the blanket.

"Won't my advisor come back?" she asked softly.

"Why, why?" Sun Changkong was taken aback.

“How much do you hate him?” Koogena shifted her gaze. “He won’t be back, at least not for the time being.”

"Great! Our mentor is finally gone!" Ji Minghuan's tone suddenly became excited, almost as if he was about to raise his arms in celebration, but then he asked, "But what is our mentor busy with? Why did he leave?"

“Hmm… let me think. First, there’s the artificial human project,” Koogena said, her eyelids drooping, “and then there are some other random things.”

"Cyborg?"

Ji Minghuan raised her eyebrows slightly, seizing on that word.

“Yes, my mentor likes to do these things. Then he dumps you guys on me.” Keojiena rested her chin on her hand.

"Can you tell me what it is specifically?" Ji Minghuan thought for a moment and then asked.

"There's nothing wrong with it, didn't he tell you that?"

"I did talk about it, but not in full."

"Because the mentor is a rare psychic ability user in the world, he wanted to try to replicate a psychic android. So he used his own genes and the genes of a cataclysmic ability user to create an android," Koojena said. "That's all."

A cyborg containing the mentor's genes? Ji Minghuan wondered, "Does the Salvation Society's technology already allow them to do something like this? Luckily, there's only one mythical fragment in the world, which can't be copied, otherwise it would be dangerous."

"The Salvation Society is amazing! They can even create artificial humans!" Sun Changkong said with a look of novelty. "Then could we create a few Ji Minghuans? When he's about to destroy the world, let them fight each other, kill each other! A Ji Minghuan free-for-all!"

"Kids are just daydreaming. If that were really the case, wouldn't the universe be destroyed?" Koojena said irritably.

Ji Minghuan couldn't help but roll her eyes at Sun Changkong: "Big sister, how much do you hate me?"

"I mean... if there really is an android like you, they won't need to keep an eye on you every day. Then the mentor can just give me your Ji Minghuan." Sun Changkong tilted his head back and hummed.

"Why did I give it to you?"

Sun Changkong was stunned, turned his face away, and couldn't speak for a long time. Finally, he stammered:
"Be my little brother."

“That doesn’t even require artificial humans. I can give myself to you right now.” Ji Minghuan looked away from her face and said casually, “Haven’t you been protecting me all along?”

Sun Changkong suddenly stopped talking. He simply bumped his head with his somersault cloud.

"Ouch, that hurts. I'm here to be your little brother, not to be used as a punching bag," Ji Minghuan sighed.

"I'm not going to see my own android, am I?" Shang Xiaochi murmured. "How terrifying."

Koojena shook her head.

She said, "No, your androids are very difficult to manufacture, and I can't say for sure why."

"So, according to what you just said, is the mentor working on a new type of android?" Ji Minghuan speculated.

“Yes, now he wants to use your brother’s genes…” As she spoke, Koogena pursed her lips and looked away. “Oh, I can’t say that.”

"My brother's genes?" Ji Minghuan smiled dismissively. "Sounds pretty useful. Use it as much as you like. It's none of my business anyway."

"Ji Minghuan, you have a younger brother?" Sun Changkong asked curiously.

Shang Xiaochi also raised her eyebrows slightly, looking at his back with curiosity.

"I don't acknowledge him. He's just a younger brother that my mentor unilaterally brought to me." Ji Minghuan said, glancing down at the table.

"No wonder my mentor seemed so busy; he was planning to create an android stronger than me?" he wondered. "But does he really think that creating an android will stop me from destroying the world? What if that thing ends up destroying the world instead?"

"If you need anything later, you can contact me. Just shout into the monitor, and I'll be there in no time." Ke Aojiena glanced at the work sheet in her hand.

"Just don't show up in my cell in the middle of the night like a mentor does. My blood pressure has been a bit high these past few days," Ji Minghuan said, glancing up at her.

"I'm not that free, and sleep quality is also very important to me," Keojiena said listlessly. "If you want to get together at the amusement park, I'll arrange it regularly for you. That's all... Any questions?"

"How exactly was the Whale Garden destroyed?" Ji Minghuan raised his hand like a primary school student.

"The Third Prince colluded with a group of people called the 'White Raven Brigade.' I don't know how they colluded, but my mentor suspects it was a deal between the old king and the White Raven Brigade."

"What deal?"

“Once the king falls critically ill, the White Raven Brigade will come knocking.” Koogenna tilted her head. “Something like that, right? Your good mentor left this time also to find out the truth behind the destruction of the Little Garden.”

"Oh, okay." Ji Minghuan nodded. "Then I have no further questions."

“I have a question!” Sun Changkong, sitting cross-legged on his somersault cloud, suddenly raised his hand.

"What question?" Koogenna looked up at her.

“My mentor said…” Sun Changkong hesitated for a moment, “that the holders of mythological fragments don’t live long, is that true?”

"real."

"Oh, how much longer can I live?" Sun Changkong asked softly.

Didn't your advisor tell you?

“No.” Sun Changkong lowered his head. “He told me not to worry and that he would find a way to keep me alive.”

"They won't live past eighteen," Keojiena said calmly. "As far as I know, no child in history who obtained a mythical fragment has ever lived past eighteen. I don't like to lie, and I'm not like my mentor who would beat around the bush, so I'll just tell you frankly." Ji Minghuan was taken aback.

Eighteen years old... Does that mean that even if they manage to escape the Salvation Society and their mentor's control, they can only live for a few more years at most? Thinking of this, he turned his head and glanced at the two girls in hospital gowns out of the corner of his eye.

Surprisingly, their reaction was quite calm; they were just stunned, like robots that had lost their wind-up mechanism.

Sun Changkong silently watched the Somersault Cloud. Shang Xiaochi looked up and met Ji Minghuan's gaze, staring back defiantly into his eyes, but then lowered her head after a moment.

"Any other questions?" Keojiena asked.

Shang Xiaochi remained expressionless and said in a low voice, "I don't want to live that long. Eighteen is still a long way off."

Koogenia glanced at her, then yawned. "I'll go back to sleep now." With that, she stood up from her chair and walked out of the cell without looking back. The metal door closed, and a deathly silence descended.

Ji Minghuan was silent for a moment, then turned over in the chair, resting her chin on the back of the chair. She looked down and then up at the two girls in hospital gowns.

“Don’t try to comfort me, you traitor…” Shang Xiaochi immediately said, “I don’t need your pity.”

"Yes, yes, who needs to comfort you?" Ji Minghuan rested her head on the back of the chair and said in a low voice, "Aren't you supposed to be a super strong person with a strong heart? Saying that you don't need any bonds or friends, you're such a chuunibyou."

Shang Xiaochi was taken aback. Suddenly, she frowned, lowered her face, and tried to speak but couldn't utter a word.

Ji Minghuan glanced at her, then at Sun Changkong.

Sun Changkong remained silent.

After a moment, she raised her head with her fiery red eyebrows furrowed, as if seriously considering the concept of death, and finally a hint of wavering appeared in her eyes.

She finally raised her head and stared blankly at him, as if she had something to say. In the end, she just remained silent for a while, then shrugged, "Tch tch tch... What does death matter? At least I can protect you until you're eighteen. Until then, you'll always be my little brother."

"Mm." Ji Minghuan nodded.

“You have to celebrate my birthday many, many times before I die!” she shouted.

"understood."

"Not a single absence is allowed!"

"Okay. I won't be absent."

Hearing their conversation, Shang Xiaochi suddenly couldn't hold back anymore. She spoke up, stammering, "You guys... why don't you comfort me a little?"

Sun Changkong was at a loss, then suddenly leaned over and hugged her, nuzzling her cheek. "I'll be with you! We don't need to be born on the same day, good brothers die together!"

Shang Xiaochi's eyes reddened, and the more Sun Changkong comforted her, the harder she cried.

Sun Changkong was stunned, her little tiger teeth showing in shock, unsure what to do for a moment. Finally, she raised her head and glared fiercely at Ji Minghuan:
"Aren't you going to comfort Little Chi?!"

"What's there to comfort me about?" Ji Minghuan pursed her lips. "Relax, relax, neither of you should be in a hurry to say your last words. I'm a restricted-level ability user, do you understand what that means?"

He looked away. "The Salvation Society must have locked me up here to use my abilities to find a way for you to survive, so that you can live longer—you are very useful, they won't let you die easily, understand?"

At this point, he sighed deeply, "Forget it, one of you is straightforward and the other is delusional, there's no point in talking to you."

Ji Minghuan stopped looking at them, but turned over in her chair and gently tapped the table with her hand.

He thought for a moment, then casually asked, "Didn't the penguin monster come with you?"

“She didn’t,” Sun Changkong said. “The last time we went to the amusement park, she said she didn’t want to come out these past few days.”

"That's strange, but why didn't she tell me?" Ji Minghuan was taken aback. "What else did she say?"

"I didn't say anything, just told you not to worry." She shook her head.

"Ke Aojiena, I want to see Kong Youling." Ji Minghuan suddenly looked up at the monitor.

“The mentor is trying to help her overcome her ‘inability to speak’ problem. You may need to wait a few days… Don’t worry, she’s safe now,” Keojiena’s voice came through the broadcast system. “Also, the other two children need to go back.”

Ji Minghuan frowned, remaining silent in confusion.

Sun Changkong thought for a moment and said, "Then we'll be going now."

"Then you can go now," Ji Minghuan said. "Be careful and don't trip. Last time someone slipped and fell flat on the floor in the corridor, but I won't say who it was."

"The corridor is so bright, you can't see anything. Anyone would slip and fall, okay?" Sun Changkong complained as he pulled Shang Xiaochi's sleeve and led her away.

Ji Minghuan silently watched the two figures disappear into the distance. Sun Changkong, holding Shang Xiaochi's hand, walked step by step into the brightly lit corridor, where the metal doors slowly closed.

He stared blankly for a while with his eyes lowered, then lay back down on the bed. It was pitch black all around. Ji Minghuan synchronized his consciousness with the No. 1 mech.

When he opened his eyes, the time on the wall was already noon on August 11th. He had slept for quite a while.

Gu Wenyu sat up, brushing his teeth and rinsing his mouth with the restraints while rummaging through the bed to find his phone and glance at the text messages he had received.

[Gu Qiye: The people from Rainbow Wings invited the Father of Puppetry to dinner, and they also invited me.]

[Black Chrysalis: And then?]

[Gu Qiye: And then... don't you think the Father of Puppetry can't eat because his face is wrapped in bandages?]

[Black Chrysalis: Oh, I see. So, you have a chance to find out what's under the Puppet Father's mask?]

Gu Qiye: Yes, see you in a bit.

Gu Wenyu turned to look out the window. The streets of Osaka were bathed in bright sunlight, yet a subtle chill lingered in the air. Summer seemed to be drawing to a close.
