Chapter 311 Agreement, Annihilation, Investigation

Chapter 311 Agreement, Annihilation, Investigation (Seeking monthly votes)

When Gu Qiye opened her eyes, the plane had already landed. The red text on the sign in the cabin read: "We have arrived at Osaka International Airport. Please disembark as soon as possible and take your belongings with you."

He pulled his phone from the seat and expertly switched time zones. Then he glanced at the numbers in the upper right corner of the screen.

The local time is 12 noon on August 10th.

He looked up and around; the airplane cabin was completely empty, leaving only him and Yuriel.

Everyone had already left, but Yuriel didn't wake him up. Instead, she sat beside him and quietly played on her tablet.

Gu Qiye put her phone back in her pocket, turned her head and glanced at it. She was still playing the game called "Life is Strange". On the screen, a brown-haired girl and a blue-haired girl were holding hands and walking along the train tracks.

The summer sun streamed through the window, casting its light on the girl's translucent skin. With her icy blue eyes lowered and without looking up, she said:
"you're awake."

"Why didn't you wake me up?" Gu Qiye asked as she straightened up from the back of the chair and rubbed the sides of her nose.

“Because you look tired,” Yuriel said, putting away her tablet.

"Everyone else is gone?"

"Almost there," Yuriel said calmly. "Next, we'll head to the Osaka branch building of the Outcasts. The Japanese authorities have arranged accommodations for us in advance, and we'll hold the meeting there." With that, she stood up first.

Gu Qiye slowly got up and followed her toward the gangway leading to the cabin exit.

"Wait a moment. There's still one person on the plane. We have an obligation to wake her up." The Icelandic girl suddenly turned around, opened the door to the connecting passageway, and walked into the corridor between the two cabins.

Gu Qiye stopped and turned around to look at her back. He saw a black coffin lying quietly in the middle of the passage.

The coffin was decorated with bright red roses and emerald green thorns, the intertwined patterns contrasting with the coffin itself, creating a bewitching yet austere beauty. It would be eye-catching anywhere, let alone on an airplane.

"Esther hasn't woken up yet?" Gu Qiye asked curiously.

"He's not awake."

As Yuri played on her tablet, she slowly walked toward the coffin.

Then, expressionless, she raised her foot and kicked the coffin without restraint.

With a "thump," Gu Qiye was slightly taken aback, then gave a dry laugh.

He watched Yuriel's retreating figure and asked irritably, "Aren't you afraid that two-hundred-year-old woman will suddenly jump out of her coffin and eat you?"

“I can’t wake her up otherwise.” With that, Yuriel turned and walked out of the central passage, like a kitten that had done something naughty and then left, her steps light and indifferent.

She suddenly tugged at Gu Qiye's sleeve, pulling him toward the gangway, then quickly let go. "If you don't want to be devoured by her, let's hurry up and leave."

Gu Qiye shrugged and obediently got off the plane with her.

As he stepped off the gangway, he suddenly heard a rattling sound coming from the coffin on the plane; the coffin lid had been moved. It seemed the black-haired, red-eyed girl in the gothic dress had already emerged from the coffin. Judging from the noise, she was quite grumpy when she woke up.

Gu Qiye and You Ruier felt a chill behind them, their hair standing on end, so they turned around and walked towards the exit of Osaka Airport without looking back.

“By the way, I heard them all calling you a ‘three-no girl’ before, so I looked up the definition online. Some people say ‘three-no' means you’re all black inside,’ and it seems that’s true,” Gu Qiye said with a sigh.

“I don’t consider myself a nobody; it’s just a nickname that Ruri Urushihara gave me,” Yuri said. “On the contrary, I have a lot of little schemes.”

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, I said you were like a robot before."

"I do not accept your apology."

"I will try my best to take care of your little thoughts in the future and not treat you like a robot."

“Okay, I forgive you,” Yuriel said calmly.

The two chatted as they left the airport and arrived on the streets of Osaka. The shuttle cars were all taken by other people, so they had to take a yellow taxi to the official building of the Osaka Outcast Association.

They boarded the glass-walled elevator and looked out at the clear summer sky.

White birds flitted through the clouds, and telephone poles and neon signs were everywhere, so densely packed they resembled a deck of cards casually spread out on a poker table. An advertisement for a ring, endorsed by Japanese entertainer Mackenyu Arata, flashed on the building's LED screen.

The elevator car was completely silent. The two stood side by side, but remained silent. The glass curtain wall shimmered in the summer sunlight, like the sea at sunset.

Gu Qiye turned his head and stared blankly at the street scene of Osaka, while Yu Ruier was playing with her tablet computer with her head down, occasionally looking up and glancing at his profile out of the corner of her eye.

“Oh, right,” Yuriel suddenly spoke up.

"What's wrong?" Gu Qiye turned around.

"Do you remember the orphanage I mentioned before?" she asked.

“I remember.” Gu Qiye nodded.

The Icelandic girl had mentioned to him before that the children in an orphanage in Lijing had been caught up in a terrorist attack, and he had saved them. Yuriel was using the salary he earned from Rainbow Wings to support that orphanage and would occasionally visit it, so he learned about this from the children.

"After this mission is over, could you come with me to Lijing?" "Why?"

“I want to take you to meet the children at the orphanage; they really want to see you,” Yuriel said. “At first, most of what I knew about you came from them. Back then, to cheer them up, I promised them that if I ever got to know you, I would take you to see them.”

She thought for a moment and said, "But I never imagined that I would actually get to know you later."

Gu Qiye paused for a moment, then smiled and said calmly, "Anyway, I'll be going home to visit after my mission, so..." He stopped abruptly.

He suddenly remembered that after this mission with the Light-Eating Bees ended, he would basically have to part ways with Yuriel. At that time, he would be seen as the sinner who killed the Father of the Puppet, standing squarely on the opposite side of Rainbow Wings, and becoming a wanted criminal.

"What's wrong?" When Yuriel saw that he suddenly stopped talking, she turned her head and stared at him without moving.

"It's nothing..." Gu Qiye shook his head, "Let me think about it some more."

Yuriel thought for a moment, then said in a low voice:

"Of course, you are free to refuse me without feeling guilty. This is not something like 'moral blackmail,' it's just an invitation from me as a friend."

"Being with the children in the orphanage was one of the few times I felt a sense of belonging... I was a homeless child, I had very little, no family, and very few friends. As a friend, I was a boring person. So, I thought about what I could share with you, and the answer I came up with was their smiling faces..."

She paused for a moment: "So, I hope I can share them with you, and I also hope I can share you with them, that's all."

Unusually, the Icelandic girl spoke haltingly. Gone was her usual robotic, concise manner and taciturnity; instead, her speech became somewhat long-winded and incoherent.

It was as if the program for weaving language had malfunctioned, but she tried her best not to let the spoken words become a jumble of gibberish.

"Do robots also fear rejection?" Gu Qiye wondered, looking at her expression.

He was silent for a moment, then picked up on her words, "Sharing me with them, it's as if I'm your possession."

Upon hearing this, Yuriel paused for a moment, then shook her head, her snow-white hair swaying slightly.

"It's just that the language wasn't precise enough, it wasn't my intention."

"Alright, I promise you." Gu Qiye smiled. "After the mission, if there's another chance, I'll go with you to that orphanage to see the children... Actually, my hesitation just now wasn't to refuse you, I just suddenly remembered I had other plans and was considering whether it would conflict with them."

Yuriel remained silent.

After a long silence, a faint smile appeared on her face. "Thank you."

"You're welcome, we're friends," Gu Qiye said. "In fact, I should thank you for introducing me to your...children."

“They were very well-behaved. After Lan Hu died, one of them cried all night, screaming and crying. The next day, she couldn’t get out of bed and was even punished by the nurses by being made to stand.” As she spoke, she looked up at Gu Qiye, “the heartless man.”

"Okay, okay, how did I become a heartless man?"

Amidst the laughter and conversation, the elevator reached the twentieth floor of the Osaka Mavericks Association building. With a "whoosh," the elevator doors opened outwards.

The two walked straight down the red carpeted corridor to the conference room at the end.

Pushing open the black door and entering the room, they saw Commander Chen Qian sitting in a swivel chair, while the other nine members of Rainbow Wing had already arrived. They sat down around the long table, leaving only Esther slowly making her way in.

Gu Qiye and You Ruier quietly found a seat next to each other and sat down.

Chen Qian said, "With the help of the Exorcist Association, the authorities have acquired equipment to detect the location of the Light-Eating Bees. So we sent a group of people to deal with the Light-Eating Bees hiding in the city today and wipe out their nests in the city. Another group of people went to the nameless island to investigate the situation on the island so that we can formulate a strategic plan later."

She paused for a moment, then said, "I know you won't follow my instructions, so you can assign personnel yourselves and make sure these two tasks are completed today."

"Can't we just go straight to the island and wipe them all out?" Fan Dongqing asked.

"No."

"Arrogance... is humanity's greatest weakness." A hoarse voice came from beneath the bandages on the face of the Puppet Father.

Fan Dongqing turned to look at him, "Bandaged man, don't try to teach me how to do things."

"The arrogant...bring about their own destruction," the Father of Puppets continued.

"Switch to manual labor." Fan Dongqing sighed.

Gu Qiye raised his head and stared silently at the Father of the Puppet, a dark flash of lightning seemingly passing through his pupils.

He took a deep breath, lowered his head and remained silent for a moment, then turned to look at Yuriel, "What do you mean?"

“What?” Yuriel looked up at him from her tablet.

"Should we stay in Japan to deal with the remaining soldiers, or go and investigate the situation on the island?" he asked.

“We can do both,” Yuriel said. “Both are things that can be resolved today.”
