Chapter 275 The Storm Rises, A Surprise Attack on Xinye Township

Chapter 275 The Storm Rises, A Surprise Attack on Xinye Township (Seeking Monthly Tickets)
"The prison has been attacked, and the White Raven Brigade has arrived," Yuriel said rapidly, looking up from her phone.

"Wow, the Phantom Troupe is quick. I thought they'd be later, or maybe they wouldn't come at all." Ruri Urushihara raised an eyebrow.

"The White Raven Brigade..."

Gu Qiye frowned. The faces of the twelve villains at the auction suddenly flashed through his mind.

“We must get to the prison as quickly as possible,” Yuriel said. “The situation there is not ideal, and if we don’t get there in time, the warden may die.”

After saying that, she looked up from her phone and gazed in the direction of the Hokkaido supernatural prison.

Despite being several kilometers apart, the three could still hear a series of earthquake-like noises coming from the direction of "Shin-e-no-kyo," the supernatural prison in Hokkaido.

Looking into the distance, a tornado made of gray and white paper sheets rose into the sky.

"The fastest speed, I understand." Gu Qiye knelt on the ground, quickly opened the briefcase, took out a mask with a lightning bolt symbol, hesitated for a moment, and put it on his face.

He pressed the button on the side of his ear, and the mask instantly adhered to his head, the thin metal curtain extending backward to cover the back of his head.

The moment he raised his head, his narrow eye sockets lit up, revealing a deep and ferocious red.

"Then I'll just run there." After being processed by a voice changer, Gu Qiye's voice suddenly became hoarse and low.

"The new mask is not bad, it's just a bit too dark," Ruri Urushihara teased. "Remember, you're called 'Black Flash' now, don't introduce yourself as 'Blue Arc' later."

“There’s no difference,” Gu Qiye said softly. “I am Gu Qiye, and I am just Gu Qiye.”

“You could consider giving me a ride. I can create ice surfaces and glide on them, but I won’t be as fast as you,” Yuriel said, reaching out her hand to him. After a moment’s thought, she grabbed his arm instead.

“Icelandic girl, just say you want to be carried around by a great hero,” Ruri Urushihara teased.

“This is an objective assessment,” Yuriel emphasized.

Gu Qiye looked at the hand she offered, bent down slightly, and picked her up in a princess carry. "This is safer."

Yuriel was slightly taken aback. Before she could raise any objections, jet-black arcs of electricity burst forth from Gu Qiye's body, then transformed into deep blue lightning—a more stable form that wouldn't accidentally injure the person she was holding.

Suddenly, Ruri Urushihara stood to Gu Qiye's right and touched his and Yuriel's shoulders. "That's good. As long as you stay within three kilometers of me, I can take you back at any time."

Gu Qiye suddenly felt a subtle stinging sensation on her body, so she glanced at her right hand and saw an unfamiliar diamond-shaped mark on her wrist, emitting a faint blue halo.

Yuriel also glanced at her wrist. "These are the conditions for activating her ability."

Gu Qiye didn't have time to ask for the specific details. In the blink of an eye, his figure transformed into a streak of wild lightning and sped away.

A deafening roar suddenly echoed through the mountains, stirring the vegetation and wildlife. The slumbering mountains seemed to awaken at that moment.

Ruri Urushi watched the dazzling beam of blue-black lightning disappear into the distance, a slight smile playing on her lips.

"Brother, what will you do this time?"

Five minutes ago, in the Hokkaido Prison for Supernatural Abilities, "Shinyo Village," nestled in a valley in Hokkaido.

The warden, Julius, stood at the prison entrance, his hands clasped together and leaning on a cane. He silently raised his head, his deep-set eyes gazing intently at the sky.

As if waiting for something.

A moment later, he lowered his head, his face shrouded in the shadow of his military cap.

Julius took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Veins suddenly bulged on his aged forehead, and his handsome and upright figure, though advanced in years, remained motionless like a statue.

Julius could hardly remain calm. This was the most absurd thing he had ever experienced. He was once a Cataclysmic power user, hailed as the "King of War," a veteran of countless battles who had led his nation to numerous victories.

After that, he was recruited by the Salvation Society and began to handle countless difficult cases, both big and small, for them.

He knew in his heart that the Salvation Society was the strongest organization in the world, and without a doubt, he should be with the strongest people, which was why he became a member of the Salvation Society.

Several years ago, he was assigned to guard this prison called "Xinye Township," intending to live a life of retirement. During this time, because of his reputation, no one dared to have any wicked thoughts about the prison.

But just recently, the Salvation Society suddenly sent word that a group of bandits called the "White Raven Brigade" had their eyes on this place and wanted to kidnap a criminal from the prison.

That's utterly arrogant and laughable.

The Salvation Society claimed that the White Raven Brigade was responsible for the destruction of the Whale Garden, repeatedly emphasizing that they were not simple, and also said that they would send one or two people to New Leaf Village as reinforcements.

Julius felt that the people they were talking about were the worst of the worst, a bunch of arrogant people who hadn't even touched the threshold of the Cataclysmic level and only knew how to take shortcuts. How could they be compared to him, the King of War who had been honed in countless meat grinder-like battlefields?

Even if I am old and haven't been on the battlefield for a long time, I would never be defeated by a group of bandits.

Julius was so certain in his heart that he refused the reinforcements sent by the Salvation Society with an almost furious and firm attitude. In the following days, he silently stood guard at the entrance of the prison every day, leaning on his cane, waiting for the arrival of those overconfident ants.

Speaking of which, the Salvation Society also warned Julius to be wary of a figure called "Black Chrysalis." If that person appeared at the scene, he couldn't be taken lightly; he might be connected to "Restricted-Level Ability User 1002." A restricted-level ability user? That brat? Julius couldn't help but laugh whenever he thought about how, two months ago, the Salvation Society had made him play house, engage in corporal punishment games, and even act as the good cop/bad cop with that man in the white coat in that confinement cell with a twelve-year-old.

Julius felt mocked, because he had witnessed true restricted-level superhuman abilities.

Over a century ago, at the Battle of Verdun, he suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of his predecessor, a restricted-level superhuman, the boy known as the "Black-haired Demon" of the battlefield. Julius didn't even get a clear look at his opponent's face before being buried under the sandstorm, only to be rescued by soldiers many days later.

That was Julius's only defeat.

He accepted his defeat willingly, without complaint. He even considered it an honor. Because from the very beginning, he was convinced that anyone who could defeat him must be the most unique being in the world, like Jesus or God.

And that restricted-level superhuman is one such example.

Julius's thoughts flowed freely, forming a long and complex narrative.

But at that very moment, a deafening alarm blared throughout the entire prison, like the buzzing of giant bees.

Dazzling and dangerous red warning lights swept in from all directions, converging into curtains of light that moved across the iron-gray prison buildings and over Julius's head.

Julius suddenly opened his eyes, raised his head, and squinted at the sky dyed red by the siren lights.

A giant paper dragon descended from the sky, made of stacked gray-white paper sheets, incredibly lifelike. The paper sheets that made up the backbone swayed in the wind, like undulating waves.

At this moment, four figures were standing on the dragon's back: a girl in a school uniform, a young man in a hoodie, a girl in an ochre-red kimono, and a woman in a red dress.

The hundreds of soldiers behind him were taken aback at first, then roared, "Fire—!"

Deafening gunfire erupted in unison, and a barrage of bullets intercepted the paper dragon descending from the sky.

The giant dragon formed from the pages folded its enormous wings, protecting the four figures as if it were encased in a snow-white cocoon, and then plummeted straight down.

The strong winds mitigated the impact of the bullet, and not a single crack appeared on the hard paper casing, making it as indestructible as steel.

Soon after, the dragons reached the ground, creating a deep crater, and then slowly opened their closed wings from the center of thousands of cracks.

Under the scorching midday sun, the four members of the White Raven Brigade once again revealed themselves from the dragon's back.

Xia Pingzhou raised his eyes and silently looked at the panel that popped up in front of him.

The bloodline provocatively curled the corners of its lips, flicked its long golden hair, and stepped down from the crawling paper dragon. Its pupils suddenly narrowed, just like those of a dragon.

Immediately afterwards, boiling blood seeped from between her fingers. Dragon blood is black, and so it formed a giant black wing behind her.

As her red dress billowed, a dark glint suddenly appeared in the depths of her eyes. A touch of red at the corner of her eyes gave her an extremely aggressive look.

Enma Rin drew her sword, the katana sweeping through the air in a clear arc. Her greyish-white school uniform skirt swayed in the wind, and she casually ripped off her fluttering tie.

"All of you, retreat! This is not an enemy you can handle..." Julius commanded the approaching army in Japanese, each word ringing out with conviction.

His face was solemn and gloomy, his gaze fixed on the four members of the White Raven Brigade, lingering on the leader, the Bloodline, and the Ripper. He thought to himself, "Unlike the intelligence, these four are clearly not at the quasi-Cataclysmic level..."

Thinking of this, Julius laughed. It was a ferocious and excited laugh, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes widening upwards.

At the same time, thousands of crows suddenly plummeted from the other side of the cliff like a black downpour, accompanied by sharp screechs that could make one scream and scratch.

The entire prison trembled and shook amidst the sudden riot. Well-trained soldiers raised their rifles and fired at the dark mass of crows, as if striking the clouds in the sky.

But they had no idea where their real target was; they were simply firing incessantly out of fear. The gunfire couldn't even drown out the deafening cawing of the crows, nor the resounding flapping of their wings.

Before long, a dense flock of crows, like a dark cloud, finally landed on the ground.

It was like facing a black tsunami; the soldiers were all knocked to the ground. Firing in this environment would only result in friendly fire, but no matter how they tried to swat at the flock of crows with their guns, it was all in vain.

It was as if they had fallen into a dark swamp, where monsters suddenly sprang up and pulled them downwards, dragging them deeper and deeper into a bottomless abyss.

“Truly capable…” Julius praised without turning his head, taking off his military cap to reveal a head of pale hair.

The whole world was trembling. The sirens, the soldiers' cries, and the cawing of crows mingled together, creating a chaotic symphony that seemed to be playing out a doomsday celebration, with everything in Newleaf Village playing the same tune.

But the old man remained unmoved, like a rock standing firm amidst a raging tide, facing the four members of the White Raven Brigade.

The next moment, he threw away the canes he was holding, and the earth began to tremble violently.
