Thousand-Faced Dragon
Chapter 63 Little Kuku
Chapter 63 Little Kuku
This is a very small origin.
"Is there any race in this world weaker than us?"
"Are there any intelligent beings in the entire multiverse who are more chaotic and weaker than us?"
"Incredibly, there really are races that take pride in being slaves, and there really are groups that yearn to spend their entire lives wallowing in the mud underground."
He opened his eyes amidst chaos and stench at birth.
The fact that this highly intelligent mutant was far superior to its kind meant that it would remember that scene throughout its long life.
In a small space less than a meter wide, more than thirty skinless, bright red "puppies" huddled together, pulling and pushing each other.
The sounds of crying, the smell of urine, and the smell of milk mingled together, but no one paid any attention.
Wow, so many little monsters!
He looked down and saw his own short, chubby, round paws, and his newborn body, which was bright red.
Yeah, it's okay now. I was one of them too.
"Waaaah!" He saw a cub crying the loudest being picked up and fed by a dog-headed monster.
So he also felt a little hungry.
After hesitating for a moment, he also burst into tears.
"Waaah!" Compared to its seven brothers born of the same mother, it was the smallest and also the loudest.
So he was picked up and the caregiver even touched his calf.
"It's a male. The little guy is so energetic, look at that cry. Hmm, let's call him Kuku." And so, Kuku got this name that would stay with him for life.
Don't ask why they're called that; even the gods can't understand their reasoning.
Perhaps they prefer onomatopoeic reduplicated names because they are easy to use and remember. As dragons are the native language, their tongues are not suited to other common tones.
Their generally lower intelligence makes it difficult for them to speak long sentences, let alone remember complex "foreign language names".
I just don't know how many Yaya, Wawa, An'an, and Kuku there are in that tribe.
It is said that Lili is the most common, and it is usually only used by tribal chiefs, because the name sounds very powerful.
Kuku is a kobold, one of the weakest races on the continent.
His childhood ended quickly. He started digging pits, hunting, and weaving with his kind when he was three or four years old. This was normal in the tribe, where people could reach adulthood and reproduce by the age of six or seven.
Kuku grew up with his friends in the tribe. He vaguely knew who his parents were, but he never cared that kobolds didn't have the concept of family, and that his parents were just old guys who smelled very similar.
They are oviparous, giving birth twice a year, with a maximum of seven or eight offspring per litter. The weaker groups are always the most adept at reproduction.
However, the total number of kobolds in Kuku's tribe has not actually increased much.
"Great dragon! Evil dragon! We are willing to give everything for you!"
Why? This tribe has a "benevolent" master.
This greedy green dragon always sends kobolds underground to dig for gems, or to hunt and fight for them.
Many of their people died in the mine collapse, but most of the deaths were due to their weakness compared to the goblins, yet they served as cannon fodder for the dragon's army.
Although they are called dog-headed people by the world, the dog-headed people in this world are completely different from canine beastmen.
Although they are weak, these scaly little creatures are indeed true dragonborn.
The head, resembling that of a hairless dog, is actually a rounded lizard head.
They are natural miners and excavators, as well as natural dragon worshippers, and will even serve the tribe where the evil dragon Kuku lives. Their benefactor is an evil adult green dragon, a young dragon who is ambitiously expanding his territory.
Don't get me wrong, the kobolds of the Kuku tribe were not forced into service.
They came to seek refuge on their own initiative, and they were happy to serve their master.
Being able to witness the majestic and powerful dragons (especially the colorful dragons) up close makes them feel safe and joyful from the bottom of their hearts.
Following a more powerful dragon is an instinct deep within one's blood that cannot be resisted.
Some say that the kobolds are the result of the evil dragon god's malice, a race of born slaves created for the sake of his own people.
Some, however, say they are the result of wizards' experiments, degraded life forms born from dragon blood.
But such beings do indeed feel genuine joy in serving the dragon.
“Ugh, this isn’t right, Kuku thinks this isn’t right.”
But Kuku, a member of the tribe, is an outlier.
At seven years old, he was already an adult, much smarter and slightly stronger than others his age. He was a full 2.5 feet (0.7 meters) tall and was a minor leader in the tribe.
He felt that his tribe wasn't working for the green dragon for nothing; at least...
"Kuku thinks it should at least give us gold coins, oh, pay us wages!" "If it doesn't, we'll sell the mines and gems! We'll exchange them for shiny gold! Beautiful, sparkling shiny gold!"
Then he was kicked out of the cave and was expelled from the tribe for the first time.
After wandering for a while, enjoying an unpleasant adventure filled with pursuit and racial discrimination, it inexplicably learned the Common Tongue and returned to the tribe.
This time, he still didn't stay long.
"Waaah, these are seeds, these are farming tools, we can farm! We can feed ourselves!"
He was promoting his new discovery amidst the utter incomprehension of his tribesmen.
That's how the big guys outside live; it's much more stable than hunting and eating dragon scraps.
But no one cared about his discovery.
He was not discouraged. Before the crops he had cultivated were ripe, they were all ravaged by passing wild beasts and monsters.
A whole year wasted.
Kuku the Clown got his first nickname.
But in the course of his future career, this isn't even too bad.
Before long, he was expelled again for refusing to participate in hunting and digging, and for refusing to provide menial services for his benefactor and his legion.
But he came back very soon.
"I have all sorts of delicious food and fun toys! Just trade the scales that silly dragon dropped and the things left behind by those adventurers!"
"I bought a house in that big, nearby place. We can live there! We can farm! We can mine—the miners there get paid! We can trade ore for lots of food! Delicious food!"
No kobolds paid him any attention; in fact, the tribe had long since treated him as invisible.
But this time, they still went to the nearest "big guy gathering place".
They had planned this all along.
"Boom!"
A dragon descended from the sky, its breath destroying the city walls and the city.
Driven by the evil green dragon eager to expand its territory, an army of various monsters and demons stormed into the town.
This small town with only a few hundred inhabitants was doomed to destruction the day the evil dragon built its nest around it.
Kuku's relatives and friends, his kobold kin who had previously seemed dull but kind, were now as ferocious as jackals, unleashing their bloodlust with crossbows, spears, and clubs.
They were tearing and biting, they were chasing and imitating dragons as they devoured flesh and blood.
Their faces were ferocious, yet they laughed like bloodthirsty demons amidst the slaughter.
That terrifying sight terrified Kuku, who witnessed it all from the hilltop.
"This is wrong, this is wrong."
Kuku left the tribe for the third time; this time, he left on his own.
Unable to comprehend why all this was happening, he walked aimlessly into the unknown distance.
This was just the beginning, a rather unremarkable start in his long life.
"What a tiny origin indeed."
When Rean awoke from his dream, he too was plunged into a long period of confusion.
Previously, at least I was alone, but this experience was far too thrilling.
The kobolds, whose aesthetic sense is based on dragon scales, tails, and lizard heads, need some time to regain their appreciation for normal aesthetics. Rean spent the whole morning watching Lana before he could recover a little.
"Hmm, the color of the scales and the curve of the tail don't matter! What matters is the beautiful girl with red eyes and white fur!!"
When he finally came to his senses and returned to his home, he realized what he had done the day before.
Rean gave a wry smile, but did not stop there. This time, the spirits of the fallen were truly extraordinary.
He thought for a moment, then spoke to the backpack he had brought back.
"Lord Hero Kuku, or rather Mr. Li Ensu, please come out and have a talk." But his seemingly suspicious invitation went unanswered for a long time.
The backpack had been opened without anyone noticing, but there was no movement at all.
"Click." The sudden sound made him turn around abruptly.
A small figure had been sitting on his bedside table for a long time.
He put down his book, a disdainful expression on his face.
"What do you want to talk about, you stupid, bad dragon knight? Let me make this clear first, Kuku doesn't talk to idiots."
