Scourge Messenger

Chapter 68 Remarks on the launch

Chapter 68 Remarks on the launch
It's that time of year again when new books hit the shelves.

People used to ask me why I haven't read a book in two years, and why I'm so lazy.

Actually, I've written many beginnings in the past two years, but to be honest, they were all things I liked, but commercially viable, somewhere between "Azure" and "Substitute." But now I'm a big shot, I have that big shot image to maintain, and I'm also a bit overconfident, so I've kept rejecting them. Of course, a small part of the reason is that holidays are really great; it's so enjoyable when I don't have to write while traveling with other authors.

The inspiration for "The Catastrophe Messenger" came from the idea of 'gamifying the real world.' There are many books on this topic, some of which are exceptionally well-written, but none of them quite captured the feeling I wanted in their later works. The difference between an author and a reader is that when I discover that what an author wrote is different from what I envisioned, I write a book based on my own ideas.

Just like the inspiration for the Sorcerer's Handbook came from You Zhu's "Girl, Something's Wrong," the so-called creative impulse often stems from pointing fingers at other books.

This book is different from the previous ones, mainly because all the female protagonists appear in the very first chapter. Yan Qing isn't Ash, the prison experience officer; he's not Le Yu, the ace pilot; nor is he Ren Suo, who doesn't want to go to work but frequently encounters beautiful girls. He's a true shut-in who refuses to leave the thieves' house for safety reasons.

For such a stubborn individual, the only solution is to give him a chance to commit a home invasion robbery.

But some readers might ask, "Teacher, why can't the female protagonists appear one by one? Why not start with a two-person story, then a three-person story, then a four-person story? Wouldn't that be easier to write?"

Good question. The only MMORPG I've ever played is FF14, and FF14 requires at least a four-person party for dungeons, so there must be four people at the start. Since there are four people, the three teammates should ideally come from three different countries, thus establishing the Three Kingdoms world view of the Central Plains.

This story tells us that many settings don't have any structural depth, and even the power map is just based on the minimum number of people in a party in an online game.

I'm at a loss for words here. I glanced back at the Sorcerer's Handbook and realized—

The Sorcerer's Handbook originally didn't have a launch message. Then I checked the in-game world and found there was, but—

This is super cute, don't watch it, it's practically a black history.
