Chapter 246 Intuition
The dark figure stood on the edge of the rooftop for a moment, then vanished without a trace, like an ink droplet merging into the night.
The glaring red warning in front of Su Wanqing also turned into a light blue.
"He's gone," Lin Che said softly, his eyes fixed on that direction.
Su Wanqing did not respond, her fingers rapidly swiping across the system interface.
She pulled up a city map, where a few faint dots of light appeared.
Lin Che, Xiao Ling, Xiao Ran, and the last one, Lu Zhao.
"Shall we go find him now?" Lin Che asked.
“Yes.” Su Wanqing closed the interface. “There’s no point in going head-to-head with the ‘Observer.’ What we need now is a brain that can connect all the clues.”
The tiered lecture hall of the Physics Department at City University was packed. On the stage, a man with his back to the audience was writing a long string of complex formulas on a huge blackboard.
He was younger than Su Wanqing remembered when they first met, but the weariness about him hadn't changed, and there were two obvious dark circles under his eyes.
Su Wanqing and Lin Che sat in the last row, almost swallowed up by the crowd.
“…Therefore, we can boldly propose a hypothesis.” Lu Zhao turned around and tapped the blackboard with chalk. “Quantum entanglement is not just a momentary interaction between particles; at the macroscopic level, it may constitute a bridge for information transmission between different universes. I personally call it the ‘memory residue effect’.”
The audience fell silent, then a few whispers broke out among the professors.
This theory is too advanced.
Lin Che shifted slightly, turned his head, and mouthed two words to Su Wanqing: "Same."
Su Wanqing nodded slightly. That's right, this was precisely the core theory that Lu Zhao proposed in his previous life when he was researching weavers.
Time was reset, but some things, as Lu Zhao said, were brought back as "residues".
As the lecture ended, students gradually got up and left. Lu Zhao ignored the professors who came forward to ask questions and busied himself tidying up the thick stack of lecture notes and experimental data on the table.
Su Wanqing and Lin Che walked through the crowd and stood in front of him.
“Professor Lu,” Su Wanqing began directly, “I would like to ask you for your opinion on the ‘Weavers’ Agreement’.”
This proper noun, which should absolutely not exist at this point in time, made Lu Zhao's hand, which was organizing the lecture notes, freeze in mid-air.
He slowly raised his head, his tired eyes filled with pure disbelief.
He stared intently at Su Wanqing's face, as if searching for something in a blurry old photograph.
"Where did you hear this term from?"
Su Wanqing did not answer, but took out a small box from her tactical backpack and placed it on the podium.
"Professor, I need your help analyzing this. It concerns the safety of the entire city."
Inside the box was a dull, lifeless metal fragment. It was a physical sample of the Weaver's technique that she had brought from her previous life.
Lu Zhao's gaze fell on the fragments. He reached out his hand, and the moment his fingertips touched the fragments, he froze, his eyes unfocused.
A few seconds later, he abruptly pulled his hand back, his voice hoarse from the slight tremor.
“I always thought those were dreams… those formulas, those devices, and… the apocalyptic scenes.”
He raised his head and looked at Su Wanqing and Lin Che, his eyes finally showing a clear understanding.
"Have we met, at another...time?"
“It’s not a dream, it’s a memory,” Lin Che answered for Su Wanqing. “The apocalypse will come in a month.”
Lu Zhao showed no doubt. Instead, he let out a long breath and relaxed completely, as if a taut string had finally snapped.
“So I’m not crazy,” he muttered to himself, then quickly took a thick notebook from his bag under the podium and opened it.
It was filled with complex calculations about time theory and quantum mechanics. One page prominently featured a structural diagram identical to the core resonance amplifier Lu Zhao had built in his previous life. He pointed to the fragments on the table: "This is 'their' technology, isn't it? I've dreamt of this material; it can warp spacetime."
Half an hour later, the three of them were already in Lu Zhao's temporary laboratory, a hotel suite that he had rented for long-term use.
The room was devoid of any sign of life; the walls, floor, and table were covered with various formulas and charts.
Lu Zhao quickly examined the fragments using a rudimentary set of equipment, and then listened to Su Wanqing briefly recount the process of reincarnation.
He quickly processed it all.
"According to my calculations, this is not a simple time travel, but a complete universe reset."
He pointed to a chart on the wall, “But some key information, like code, is woven into the quantum level, which is why we have preserved these fragmented memories.”
He pulled a half-finished prototype device from under the bed. Although it was rudimentary, its core structure was strikingly similar to the device in Su Wanqing's memory.
"System upgrade, tenfold return, thirty-day preparation period." Su Wanqing told him everything she knew.
Lu Zhao immediately stood up and paced back and forth in the room, his mind racing.
"Resources, we need more resources. The weaver's technological fragments must be integrated to form an effective defense."
Last time we failed because we didn't have enough time. This time, we must get there first.
He grabbed a pen and quickly drew up a long list of materials and equipment on a blank sheet of paper, demonstrating a precise understanding of the crisis.
“And Xiao Ran and Xiao Ling,” Su Wanqing added.
Lu Zhao wrote two names at the end of the list, then drew a circle to group the five people together.
"The complete five-person team... this is no coincidence. It is time itself that is driving these key moments to come together again."
After he finished speaking, he suddenly stopped writing and turned to look at the light blue system interface on Su Wanqing's wrist.
He frowned, as if he had thought of something.
"Let me see your system data."
Su Wanqing brought up the interface, and Lu Zhao leaned closer, gesturing with his fingers in the air while muttering incantations as he performed mental arithmetic.
A few minutes later, his expression became very serious.
“A tenfold return is not a reward,” he said in a deep voice, “it’s a warning.”
He pointed to a string of energy conversion rate values on the interface that Su Wanqing had never noticed before.
"Look here, according to this energy conversion rate, time is not running steadily, it is collapsing at ten times the speed."
The weavers may have already begun the final harvest, but we're currently in the eye of the storm and can't feel it yet.
He swiped his finger across the screen, and a hidden, barely noticeable countdown appeared.
The numbers above are jumping rapidly.
"This is the diffusion rate of the time erosion front, which is ten times faster than in the previous life."
Lu Zhao's voice became urgent, "We don't actually have thirty days, we might only have three!"
He quickly turned around, tore a city map off the wall, and spread it on the table.
"We must find Xiao Ran and Xiao Ling immediately. The five key points must be activated simultaneously to form the most basic protective network."
He quickly drew several circles on the map with a red pen.
"According to my calculations, these locations will be the weakest points in the time field, and the first wave of anomalies will begin from here."
The most dangerous are the water conservancy projects in the southwest, where heavy rains are likely to arrive earlier than expected.
