Chapter 186 Energy Out of Control
The air pressure inside the safe house grew increasingly oppressive. Less than ten minutes later, a continuous low-frequency hum came from outside. At first, it was hard to hear clearly, but soon the walls began to vibrate slightly.

Lu Zhao shortened the terminal switching frequency and said in a low voice, "There is military frequency noise—it sounds like they are using directional acoustic equipment."

Xiao Ran checked the latch again, then looked up and asked, "Who's it aimed at?"

Lu Zhao turned off his headset. "It's not meant to drive her away, it's targeted at a child's voice. It's a deliberate frequency adjustment, an attempt to interfere with her brainwaves."

As Su Wanqing stuffed the spare first-aid kit into a corner, she asked Lin Che, "Can Tong Yin hold on?"

Lin Che held the girl protectively in his arms, sweat streaming down his face. He bit his lower lip, offering no reply, his eyes filled with panic.

Then, three loud bangs came from the roof, and sparks flew out from where the glass was installed.

Xiao Ran flipped to the outer surveillance footage, his expression changing slightly: "It's tear gas riot control material, specially wrapped up. The drug mist will suppress the nerves if it gets in."

Lu Zhao wanted to turn on the external circulation fan, but immediately turned back and shook his head: "No need to bother, the air contains veratrine-like weapons, if a child inhales it, he will definitely have convulsions."

Su Wanqing soaked the towel by the door, handed it to Lin Che, and whispered, "Don't let her inhale randomly."

As she made the movements, her fingers felt a little tight.

The chemicals were trapped inside the small room, and an unnatural, sweet, fishy smell slowly seeped down from somewhere in the ceiling.

The pressure of the siege pressed down on everyone's back.

Lu Zhao glared at the terminal screen and pushed the monitor in front of everyone.

He said, "Dawn has already launched microwave interference from the opposite mountain, suppressing the main frequency, in conjunction with the military. The outside has begun a synchronized attack." As he spoke, he removed the battery cover and handed the last set of spare coils to Su Wanqing.

Xiao Ran's arm trembled slightly as he slung the gun over his shoulder. He ordered, "Seal off the control lines at the second door. If they really get in, block the ventilation shafts. Hold out for every minute you can."

Suddenly, the girl with the childlike voice trembled all over and pushed Lin Che away, struggling to break free like a puppet with its strings cut.

Xiao Ran tried to stop her but failed. Suddenly, blue patterns appeared under the girl's feet, wrapping around her arms like vines, and a fierce blue light shone in her eyes.

The terminal in Lu Zhao's hand displayed garbled characters, and both the old and new frequencies were being interfered with simultaneously.

He glanced at it and asked Su Wanqing, "Has she ever lost control to this extent before?"

Su Wanqing pressed the notebook down, her voice honest, "No. At most, the numbers spike, but not once like this."

Lin Che suddenly tensed up and froze against the wall. He pressed one hand tightly against his forehead and the other hand directly against his chest. He arched his body and couldn't hold on, sweat pouring down his forehead.

The girl with the childlike voice then emitted a series of sounds that were extremely difficult to imitate; it was neither crying nor normal speech, nor humming.

The tone had a certain mechanical coldness, yet it sent a chill down one's spine.

Intricate blue lines ran across her skin, spreading from her palms to her elbows, then across her shoulder blades and cheeks.

The temperature in the cabin suddenly rose, static electricity filled the air, and the metal door of the safe house creaked.

Lu Zhao instinctively covered his ears, feeling a tingling, numbing sensation in his teeth and bones.

Xiao Ran took several steps back, positioning himself on the outermost side of the door. He peered through the crack in the window and could only see a dark mass of zombies, all moving in unison toward the safe house.

The military's engineering vehicles turned around and began deploying a higher-intensity acoustic scrambling array.

Li Ming's group split into three groups from the back of the mountain, switching between potions and demolition equipment, specifically targeting areas with good air circulation.

The sudden impact and the sounds of mechanical dismantling followed, overlapping on the roof and side walls.

The entire room was enveloped in a strange, turbulent rhythm.

The blue light emanating from the girl with the childlike voice grew even stronger. She clenched her fists, her knuckles changing color, and the ancient runes on her body constantly shifted and changed configurations, the patterns rapidly covering her shoulders, neck, and jawline.

She suddenly screamed loudly, and the scream shattered the top glass light bulb.

The zombies outside stopped abruptly at the edge of the barrier, then all raised their heads and let out low growls, their voices filled with a strong sense of aggression.

One zombie suddenly leaped and crashed through the fence, and the other zombies swarmed forward, their movements perfectly synchronized, as if guided by some system.

Su Wanqing immediately realized that she had completely crossed the line. She quickly pulled the jade bracelet to the center of her wrist, her fingers instinctively wanting to press something, her heart pounding more fiercely than ever before.

At that moment, the jade bracelet emitted heat on its own, and faint golden lines appeared on its surface.

Xiao Ran turned his head and asked, "Do you have any other barriers there?" Su Wanqing hesitated for only a second. The jade bracelet in her hand was already pressed to the outermost layer. She gritted her teeth and instinctively shouted, "Eden's Guardian!"

The jade bracelet burst forth with a layer of golden light, followed by an even brighter beam of light that spread out like ripples on water.

A translucent, membrane-like light immediately appeared on the walls of the safe house. Golden energy wove layers of fibers between the walls, ceiling, and floor, and in the blink of an eye, they converged into a transparent, arched shield that could roughly contain all the members, tightly enveloping the small house like a canopy.

Lin Che suddenly let out a low growl, touched his head, and fell to the floor.

His veins bulged beneath his skin, alternating between gold and blue. He struggled violently at first, his whole body convulsing, the high-purity energy surge causing him to grit his teeth and groan.

Then he suddenly calmed down, stopped struggling, and slowly opened his eyes, revealing a mixture of gold and blue deep in his pupils.

Lu Zhao retracted the terminal, gritted his teeth, and tried to calculate the flow of all the energy just now, but all signals stopped, and the only sounds in the air were rapid breathing and the hum of the jade bracelet.

As Lin Che straightened up, his tongue trembled slightly. His voice, which spoke, carried a depth unlike anything he had before, as if two timbres were layered together: "I am finally whole."

Hearing the sound, Su Wanqing looked over and instinctively raised her jade bracelet. Lin Che walked over and reached for the golden barrier.

His hand touched the surface of the light shield, and the gold and blue colors slowly spread across the shield, covering it with a new layer of ripples.

The golden light on the jade bracelet resonated briefly with the color of his palm, making the barrier noticeably more stable, and each fluctuation became more regular.

Xiao Ran whispered, "They've all gathered outside. The zombies at the window are coming down in waves. The military and Dawn are attacking the shield with all their might."

There was no panic in his voice, only a greater speed and decisiveness.

Lu Zhao put the spare battery and the remaining data into the aluminum case. He didn't say much, but just used his digital notes to compare the remaining solutions one by one.

The girl's voice hadn't stopped, but its intensity had weakened, and the incantation was intermittent.

The blue runes on her body began to fade, as if all the energy had condensed in her chest.

Lin Che crouched down and gently helped her straighten up, his eyes showing no fear.

Su Wanqing led everyone to the center of the protective barrier. She tried to adjust it with the jade bracelet on her wrist, but each time she operated it, she could only adjust part of the energy flow and could not directly remove the barrier.

Lin Che's hand was still on the protective shield, and a layer of ripples was pressed into the surface of the shield. The protective ring expanded outward, and the strength was increased by one level.

Lu Zhao noticed that the shield blocked everything, whether it was the military's sonic waves, the kinetic energy of riot control grenades, or the invasion of zombie hordes, none of which could reach the inside of the cabin.

The impacts outside grew increasingly intense, but the safe house stood firmly inside.

The sounds of the zombie horde crashing in the distance, the distant explosions of stun grenades, and mixed military sonic waves were all blocked as if by some giant hand.

Lin Che straightened up and nodded in Su Wanqing's direction. His voice didn't tremble at all: "I can adjust the frequency of the shield. That state just now allowed my two consciousnesses to merge. They won't separate again."

Su Wanqing exchanged a brief glance with him and simply replied, "Continue to sense, and tell me immediately if there are any changes."

Lu Zhao locked the data and stuffed all the remaining weapon resources into the center of the protective perimeter.

He asked Su Wanqing, "Can the jade bracelet bring up any other panels? All signals here are cut off, completely cutting off external communication."

Su Wanqing tried several times, but apart from the flow of golden energy, there were no other new prompts.

The shield function remains in its original closed mode.

Discs were scattered all over the floor, and the equipment's cooling plates were slightly warm. Everyone was inside the barrier; not a single person was left behind.

Outside, the faces of the military and the dawn were not visible; only muffled impacts and the continued release of riot control chemical gases could be heard through the protective shield.

The horde of zombies grew larger and larger, and the encirclement became increasingly tight, but they could no longer cross the protective barrier by even a millimeter.

Lin Che sat back down on the ground, hugged Tong Yin, and his palms glowed slightly.

Blue runes rippled across the two people's arms, and a warm aura surrounded the small circle.

Lu Zhao pulled Xiao Ran over, and both of them reduced their range of movement, transferring all available supplies to nearby locations.

Xiao Ran calmly calculated the remaining ammunition, water, and oxygen; the atmosphere was so tense you could hear a pin drop.

The emergency light in one corner of the safe house remained dim, and no one could predict what would happen next.
