Chapter 180 Personality Fusion
Lin Che leaned back on a small chair outside the laboratory, raising his hand to rub his temples.

He closed his eyes and meditated for more than ten minutes, his chest rising and falling as his thoughts cleared away the fog.

The air was stifling, with only the air vents behind me emitting a low, even hum.

A strange sense of clarity quietly emerged in his consciousness. Lin Che calmed himself down, focusing all his attention on trying to find the chasm that once marked the boundary between his "night" consciousness and his past self.

In his deepest perception, he and the night were always separated by a sharply defined ice wall, and only one of them could appear at a time.

This time was different. A string of memories and perceptions blended together, and without conscious effort, he could sense the night's alert yet calm logic, while simultaneously recalling his own gentle and delicate thoughts.

Lin Che felt that he couldn't say which side was more real—two threads were simultaneously entrenched in his mind, and a mixed set of thoughts gradually replaced the previous rigid sense of confrontation.

"Hoo." Lin Che opened his eyes. He whispered something only he could hear: "Is it you or me? Or, it's both of us."

Lu Zhao's voice could be heard from afar. He patted his clothes, stood up, and walked into the laboratory.

Han Xue and Su Wanqing are reviewing the curve report of the previous round of blood samples at the control panel.

Lu Zhao leaned over and pondered, while Xiao Ran adjusted the position of the instrument wrench with his back to the door.

The laboratory was bustling with activity.

"Lin Che, we need to do another experiment later, are you sure you can handle it?" Su Wanqing asked.

Lin Che nodded, his voice low and even: "A few more times is fine. You can use whichever ability you need."

Su Wanqing frowned slightly. "How do you feel about yourself? Is there any personality you can't control?"

Lin Che adjusted his mask, thought for two seconds, and said, "They're all here. This time... you can request both types of data at the same time. I can do that."

Upon hearing this, Xiao Ran put down the iron box in his hand, glanced at him, and asked, "Are you pretending to be Night Personality again, or are you yourself?"

“There’s no need to split it up,” Lin Che said casually. He glanced at his hands, his tone steady. “It’s a bit like you guys having a meeting while drinking tea, with two ideas running in your heads at the same time.”

Lu Zhao didn't interrupt, his gaze falling on the vein in Lin Che's right wrist. He noted this detail down and casually opened the instrument's data collection interface.

The experiment progressed quickly. Lin Che sat down in front of the equipment and raised his hand to press the blood collection point.

Han Xue originally wanted him to enter his night personality first, but he directly said, "No need, I can do it now."

When he spoke, his tone was as concise as Ye's usual, yet also contained a touch of his own gentleness.

The instrument was connected and about to begin recording. Lin Che subconsciously tightened his fingers, a familiar surge of energy within him mingling with the calm of the night.

Suddenly, a faint blue light appeared in his palm, with golden energy flowing around it.

The light was faint, initially only a thin layer, but soon the two colors merged and enveloped each other, as if they were one.

Han Xue immediately focused on the data panel. She reminded Lu Zhao through the walkie-talkie, "Record it now, his energy level indicators are being added together."

Lu Zhao's face darkened as he copied the data. The numbers surged, quickly surpassing the morning's peak.

Han Xue took out an infrared detection pen and shone it on the colored band in Lin Che's palm.

On her monitor, the energy efficiency curve of the gold and blue hybrid system jumped up, improving by at least double compared to the previous nighttime performance.

The heat in Lin Che's palm began to fluctuate. He looked at his hands, and after a brief moment of confusion, he regained his composure.

He said, "Do you want me to continue? I feel like I can maintain it, and I won't lose control of my body like I did with my previous nocturnal personality."

Han Xue made a series of notes, her lips moved but she didn't interrupt. Lu Zhao slapped the control panel and whispered to Su Wanqing, "This efficiency is doubled. He has almost combined two superpowers and is performing them together."

Su Wanqing circled her fingers around the notebook, then lowered her head to think for a moment before letting Lin Che rest briefly and observing his reaction.

Lin Che did not refuse and naturally withdrew his hand.

"Is there anything wrong with your body?" Su Wanqing pressed.

Lin Che's voice carried a hint of calmness and a touch of self-deprecation as he answered: "My head is pretty clear. I can switch between talking about data and telling corny jokes at any time; I can't even say for sure myself."

Lu Zhao picked up the conversation: "Try activating the perception abilities of the Night Personality? For example, can you directly sense the fluctuations of the girl with the childlike voice?"

Lin Che sat up straight, closed his eyes briefly, and without effort, he could sense a slight fluctuation in the cellular structure of the girl with the childlike voice backstage at the manor. He opened his eyes: "Her cells are restless, fluctuating, but not high-risk. You want me to go—"

"Right away." Su Wanqing nodded.

Han Xue pushed the equipment along almost immediately.

When we arrived at the girl's room, she was already sweating, and her face was slightly damp with heat.

Lin Che bent down and grasped the girl's wrist. In an instant, Lin Che mobilized the energy within his body, and the golden and blue streams seeped into the girl's skin.

He subconsciously activated two sets of consciousness: one to manage the healing and stabilization, and the other to monitor changes in the virogen.

In less than five minutes, the girl's body temperature returned to normal and her blood oxygen levels recovered.

Lu Zhao stood at the door keeping track of the time, muttering to himself, "It used to take at least two hours, but it's only been a few minutes?"

Han Xue scanned the data directly with the instrument in her hand. The protein was stable, and the viral load dropped sharply.

She immediately compiled this set of data into an experimental log and jotted it down in her pocket notebook.

Su Wanqing stepped forward and asked Lin Che, "How confident are you about your recent changes in your personality and Night Personality?"

Lin Che paused for a moment, looking at his hands: "To be honest, it's just that suddenly, I can do whatever I want, and I can stop whenever I want."

The calm of the night and my own thoughts can both be used. Now I won't get a fever or black out when dealing with danger.

Su Wanqing didn't say anything, but sat down in a corner of the sofa and carefully watched Lin Che's expression.

Lin Che sat opposite him, not flinching, his voice calm: "Sometimes I think a little more before I speak, and sometimes I'm so decisive it's almost cold-blooded. You can ask me anything you're worried about."

"Do you still think you are yourself?" Su Wanqing suddenly asked.

Lin Che frowned and pondered for half a minute, during which Lian Ye's tone remained unchanged. He slowly replied, "Perhaps he is more like me than the previous one, because he is not black and white."

After he finished speaking, he bit his lower lip lightly and pressed his fist against his knee.

"Will you lose control in the future?" Su Wanqing asked again.

Lin Che shook his head: "I'm not sure, but I feel quite at ease now. In the past, I always had to resist the night, but now it's like I'm half a year older, and I have two ways to deal with it."

The two were silent for a while. Su Wanqing finally looked up and said, "In that case, you must participate in all the discussions of the plans for the important experiments that follow, and your condition will be monitored throughout if necessary."

Lin Che nodded. The conversation thus came to an end.

Han Xue set up an old-fashioned recorder next to the experimental area, and whenever Lin Che dealt with the situation of the girl with the child's voice, she would write down notes with extra care.

She always carried that little notebook with its dark green cover in her pocket.

Lu Zhao glanced at the data a few times and found that the numbers and curves were much more detailed than the reports shared by the team, with the words "fusion features" written in the notes.

However, the team report provided by Han Xue only retained the most basic ability curves and physiological reactions.

Xiao Ran noticed something was wrong and secretly retrieved the recording from the camera next to her workbench.

He went back and checked the surveillance footage, discovering that Han Xue would stay alone in a corner of the lab late at night, meticulously taking notes in her notebook, with even more data than during the day.

At 8 p.m., Han Xue, under the pretext of routine equipment self-check, walked out of the main building wearing a coat and went around to the storage room on the edge of the base.

She looked up and glanced around, then took out a small radio transmitter, about the size of her palm.

Frequency tuning, encryption, and a set of fixed codes were sent out. She whispered, "Merger initiation. Lin Che's condition is exceeding expectations. Light Evolution. Awaiting your instructions."

After a burst of static, she put away her equipment and calmly returned to the main building.

In the laboratory, Su Wanqing rested her chin on her hand, looking at the report book that Lin Che had left behind, without saying a word.

Lin Che leaned back in his chair, his mind echoing with the sounds of night and himself.

He rubbed his temples, took off his lab gloves, and closed his eyes.
