Chapter 159 Malfunction
Lu Zhao's hands were still on the main console, comparing the data of the attachments and the tracking interference group.

Before I could even type in the code I had just finished organizing, the device suddenly made a few muffled noises.

He frowned and was about to speak when the screen of the terminal in front of him went black.

The lights in the entire room went out, and everyone was stunned for a moment in the dim light.

The backup lights didn't turn on immediately. After three seconds, there was a click overhead, and a few red emergency lights came on, illuminating the corners and the lab bench in a blurry way.

Lin Che turned on his portable flashlight and shone it under the table.

"The power is completely out?"

“All main power supplies are offline, and the data host has also been disconnected.” Lu Zhao unplugged the terminal, plugged in his portable power supply, and focused on checking the mounting interface.

The isolation container had just been placed in place when the indicator light flashed briefly before going dark again.

Xiao Ran turned back from the doorway, his face grim. He pointed to the small monitoring device on the edge of the ceiling and said, "There's no signal for the lighting or the monitoring. The power supply area on the east side is also out of power, with only emergency batteries left."

"How long can your backup team hold out?" Su Wanqing pulled the girl to her side and asked in a low voice.

"This capacity is only enough for ventilators and simple communication; heavy equipment cannot be installed."

Xiao Ran picked up the flashlight, turned around and walked towards the control cabinet, muttering, "The main circuit breakers on the external circuits have all tripped, as if they were directly cut off."

Lu Zhao brought up the handheld detection module, pulled out the wires from the back of the console, and unplugged the connector to check the wiring.

He stared at it for a minute, his brow furrowing even deeper. Lin Che came over to help, and Lu Zhao handed him the results directly: "The main circuit board has burn marks, and there are some jumper structures on the slot side that don't belong to our preset configuration. I suspect it's an internal program crash."

Lin Che nodded, helping to slowly push the equipment against the corner of the wall, and asked in confusion, "That interference just now didn't reach the main power supply, was that intentional?"

"Don't move, let me unplug all the data cables first." Lu Zhao removed another auxiliary board from the outside, inserted the detection head into the interface, and a few lines of messy characters appeared on the screen.

Su Wanqing stood quietly by the table, tapping the laptop case lightly with her fingers, watching as no one made a sound.

Xiao Ran pulled out a spare power line from the power distribution room, attempting to bypass the damaged slab and reconnect the emergency power to the north side.

Sweat streamed down Xiao Ran's forehead. He wiped it with his sleeve and said, "The backup team can only provide temporary lighting. The power supply is unstable throughout the site, and critical equipment can only last for a maximum of twenty minutes."

Lu Zhao ignored his words and directly plugged in his own terminal, checking the software page for an abnormal record.

His eyes remained fixed on the screen, projecting the detection interface onto the emergency tablet. "The control chip in the main circuit has been tampered with. The timestamp shows that a remote write program intruded 32 hours ago. It will automatically burn out the motherboard after the timer is triggered."

"Are you sure it wasn't brought in by the rebels' tracking equipment?" Lin Che asked in a low voice.

"It's hard to say, but the timing matches up. Previously, both the main control system and the signal frequency band experienced external fluctuations at the same time."

Lu Zhao remained expressionless as he removed the chip board and handed it over. "There are encrypted traces of remote access left on this board, and the anti-injection mechanism is locked."

Su Wanqing opened the new notebook in her bag and wrote down a line.

Without asking further questions, she looked up and asked, "Is there any possibility of repairing the equipment?"

"Recovery has reached its limit; only basic life support and a little communication remain online."

Lu Zhao said. He turned to Xiao Ran, "Only the low-voltage section of the backup power supply is usable; the burnout point in the main circuit is a deliberately implanted destructive program."

Xiao Ran looked at the pile of charred wires, clicked his tongue, walked to the main control panel where the power was out, and manually pulled the backup power switch.

The relay clicked, and the light bulb on the north side lit up for two seconds and then went out. He shook the wrench in his hand. "It's no use. The circuit is completely blocked. The main line is burned through too thoroughly."

Lin Che blinked, and with a little water-based ability, he managed to condense a thin thread of water, probing along the end of the wire.

"The circuit is carbonized and has no electrical conductivity at all. Even if I repair it, it won't function as the main circuit."

Su Wanqing dragged a chair over and sat down, tapping her fingers twice on her knee. "Everyone, calm down. Collect all the remaining usable equipment and data. Back up all the data locally and archive the experimental items."

Lu Zhao nodded, packed all the data he had just detected into his external hard drive, and completely disconnected it from any network interface.

He whispered to Su Wanqing, "All backups are locked and can only be accessed locally to prevent the program from being implanted again."

At the office door, the girl with the childlike voice didn't say a word, but instead kept her head down and packed her small bag piece by piece with very steady movements.

The first thing she put into her bag was the pendant she always kept by her side.

She wrapped the pendant in a handkerchief, carefully tucked it into the innermost pocket of her coat, and then zipped it up.

Everything else was neatly arranged and put away without asking anyone for help.

Lin Che glanced back at the girl. "Why is she so quiet?" "Maybe she's seen it all before." Xiao Ran handed several spare flashlights to the table. "She knows our evacuation procedures better than I do."

Su Wanqing watched for a few seconds, noting down every detail of the girl packing her things.

She asked calmly, "Have you experienced a sudden power outage before? Or is there some other danger?"

The girl nodded, her voice low but not timid: "Where I used to live, the power was always out, and I had to clean up after myself. This time there are lights, so it's not so scary."

Lu Zhao packed up the useless broken wires and pushed them to Xiao Ran. "All the lines can only do this much. If we have ten minutes left, we'll probably have to rely on respirators and the alarm system."

Xiao Ran placed his hands on the equipment rack, straightened up, and looked everyone over. "I'll try to see if we can connect the north functional area. If it really doesn't work, we'll start packing up and moving things immediately."

Lin Che said, "Regardless of whether the power can be repaired or not, since this area can be remotely hacked, the surrounding area is definitely not safe."

Su Wanqing nodded and crossed out a list of supplies on the booklet. "Hold a short meeting immediately. Based on the current intelligence, staying here any longer is tantamount to waiting to die. I propose that we immediately proceed with the emergency evacuation procedure—pack all the most critical experimental equipment, data hard drives, and medical kits into boxes. Everyone must report on the items they must take within three minutes."

Lu Zhao agreed and began to organize the most basic mobile terminals and portable analyzers on the experimental table.

He muttered to himself, "The entire relocation will be completed within half an hour."

As Xiao Ran packed, he asked, "How do we choose a new place to stay?"

Su Wanqing turned her gaze back and said briefly, "The map of the backup stronghold is with me. Don't bring it out into the open yet."

The evacuation order was as agreed beforehand: the attack team led, the technical and experimental teams in the middle, medical staff at the rear, and the girl and key equipment with me.

Lin Che squatted down and handed the spare water bag and mini medical kit to the table. "My superpower can sustain me in an emergency for two hours, but I can't guarantee that it will be constant without the help of a motor."

Su Wanqing pointed to the numbers on the back of the instrument and checked whether the smart locks were still working.

Lu Zhao moved the hard drive and terminal, and tested the mobile data protection cover. "This last bit of spare battery can't even be locked in place by the safety cover. We'll see how long it lasts."

Xiao Ran tidied up the security equipment and outerwear at the entrance, put them in his large bag, and copied down the data of all the exit routes for Lu Zhao.

Su Wanqing glanced at the girl with the childlike voice again. She finished packing all her things and started tying her shoelaces, her face expressionless.

The girl said, "I'm all packed and ready to go anytime."

Lin Che asked casually, "Aren't you afraid?"

The girl looked up and answered seriously, "It's not the first time. I always have to put my things away carefully so I don't lose them."

Su Wanqing looked at her and said in a low voice, "You learn very quickly."

The girl didn't say anything, tightened her coat, adjusted the straps to the right position, and finally touched the pendant in her pocket.

Xiao Ran took a hammer and screwdriver, checked all the locks on the backup exits again, and hung all the available small emergency lights at the exits.

"Which route should we take?"

Su Wanqing looked down at her notebook and compared the information, then looked up and replied briefly: "Main line east corridor, new entrance for backup."

Lu Zhao stuffed all the hardware resources he could collect into his backpack, his pockets overflowing with chips.

He whispered to Xiao Ran, "I found out that there's a spare security chip in the main control area. Remember to take it with you when you leave."

Seeing everyone busy, Lin Che didn't say much. He checked the usable medical pods again and distributed the last set of portable energy bars.

Su Wanqing stood at the back, tidying up while monitoring the changes in the frequency band.

She noticed that the girl moved nimbly, without the slightest panic, and her movements were very skillful.

She was a little puzzled; the child's emergency response was smoother than that of most adults.

The girl with the childlike voice suddenly spoke up, whispering, "When we leave later, could you not turn off the shutter too much? I have short legs and can't run fast."

Su Wanqing nodded, "No, I'll put you in the middle of the line."

After everyone had finished packing, Xiao Ran checked the circuits and exits one last time and said, "All the working machines are shut down, and we can't receive any signals from outside. Let's hurry up."

Su Wanqing gave a summary, waved for the team to prepare, and all temporary records were taken offline.

She walked to the door, took one last look at the girl, and whispered to Lin Che, "Her way of handling crises is too skillful; it doesn't seem like just an instinctive reaction."

Lin Che did not respond, but picked up his backpack to indicate that he could move.
