Chapter 141 Encirclement and Suppression Target
Su Wanqing's gaze fell towards the night. He was standing by the window, looking into the distance, his face expressionless.

“Mr. Ye,” Su Wanqing called out.

Ye turned around and looked at Su Wanqing. "What are your orders, Chief Su?"

"Where did you just go?" Su Wanqing asked.

Night's expression remained unchanged. "I just went outside for a walk and got some fresh air."

"Is it in an abandoned area?" Su Wanqing pressed.

Ye's body stiffened slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. "Yes. It's quieter over there; I want to be alone for a while."

"doing what?"

"Nothing, I was just observing the surroundings," Ye replied.

"There are some low-level zombies over there; I'm just observing their activity patterns."

Su Wanqing narrowed her eyes. She didn't believe Ye's words.

"Lu Zhao, go and check on the condition of that abandoned area."

She said to Lu Zhao, "Check if anything is unusual."

"Yes," Lu Zhao replied, and immediately turned and left.

A hint of displeasure finally appeared on Ye's face. "Chief Su, what do you mean by this?"

"I just wanted to confirm the situation," Su Wanqing replied.

"The situation is critical now, and we must remain vigilant against any suspicious activity."

Ye pursed her lips and said nothing more.

Lu Zhao returned quickly. His expression was somewhat grave.

“Chief Su, there are indeed some anomalies in that abandoned area,” he said.

"I discovered a small group of low-level zombies that are being controlled. They seem to be guided by some kind of special power, and their movements have become more regular."

Su Wanqing's heart sank. She looked at Ye and asked, "Mr. Ye, what's your opinion on this matter?"

A half-smile played on Night's face. "Isn't this normal? Zombies are living beings too, and they can be affected by external influences. Perhaps someone has discovered a way to control them."

"Control zombies?" Su Wanqing frowned. "That's impossible. Zombies have no consciousness and cannot be controlled."

“Chief Su, you greatly underestimate human intelligence,” Night replied.

"Perhaps they really have found some way to control the zombies' movements using a virus or other means."

Su Wanqing remained silent. She looked at the night, her heart filled with doubt.

"Mr. Ye, how much do you know about the technology of controlling zombies?" she asked.

“I’ve only heard some legends,” Night replied. “It’s said that there’s a special viral signal that can affect the nervous system of zombies, bringing them under control.”

"Virus signal?" A glint flashed in Su Wanqing's eyes.

She recalled Lu Zhao's previous test results on the jade bracelet and pendant, which included fluctuations in the virus.

“Continue the investigation,” Su Wanqing said to Lu Zhao. “Find out Mr. Ye’s background and his relationship with zombie control technology.”

“Yes,” Lu Zhao replied.

Su Wanqing looked at Ye and asked, "Mr. Ye, how do you think we should deal with this new threat?"

A confident expression appeared on Night's face. "It's simple. We'll use this technology to control the zombies and turn them into our weapons."

"Control zombies?" Xiao Ran frowned upon hearing this.

"This is too dangerous. We cannot guarantee that we can have complete control over them, and if they get out of control, the consequences will be unimaginable."

“Risk and reward go hand in hand,” Night replied. “Once we master the technology to control zombies, we can greatly enhance our combat capabilities and gain a greater advantage in fighting against rebels and zombie hordes.”

Su Wanqing didn't immediately respond. She knew Ye's proposal was tempting, but it also carried enormous risks. "Don't act rashly," she told Ye. "We need to carefully assess the feasibility of this technology and its potential consequences."

A hint of disappointment flashed across Ye's face. But he quickly composed himself and said, "Okay. I respect Chief Su's decision."

Su Wanqing watched Ye's retreating figure, her heart filled with unease. She sensed that Ye was hiding more secrets than she had imagined.

“Lu Zhao,” she said to Lu Zhao. “Keep a close eye on Ye’s actions. Report to me immediately if he does anything unusual.”

"Understood," Lu Zhao replied.

Ye returned to the rest area alone. He walked to the table, turned on the computer, and began writing a complex program.

His fingers flew across the keyboard, and the screen flashed with dense lines of code.

He was undertaking a daring experiment. He wanted to use his superpowers to create a small-scale zombie control experiment to prove his abilities and earn the team's trust.

He knew that if his plan succeeded, he would be in a more advantageous position within the team, and even control the entire situation.

Unbeknownst to him, his actions were being watched by Su Wanqing and Lu Zhao.

Su Wanqing flipped through the kill list she had exchanged with the rebel leader Allen. The names and code names on the list differed somewhat from the information she had previously obtained, suggesting that Allen had not been entirely honest.

“This list is too lacking in detail,” Su Wanqing said to Lu Zhao, looking up. “The information provided by the other party is too general, making it difficult to find any valuable clues.”

Lu Zhao nodded. "Allen is very cautious. The information he provides is often carefully vetted. If we want to get the real information, we'll probably have to pay a much higher price."

"The price?" Su Wanqing repeated, her gaze falling on the table, her fingertips lightly tapping the metal.

What else can we give him?

"Perhaps we could consider providing more analytical data on the zombie virus."

Lu Zhao said cautiously, "The rebels have always been very ambitious in their research on the virus. If we can meet their needs, we might be able to obtain more comprehensive intelligence in return."

"Virus data...that's a good suggestion. But we can't reveal it easily."

Su Wanqing frowned slightly. "The virus is our trump card. We can't let the rebels gain too much of an advantage."

At this moment, Lin Che walked into the operations room, holding an electronic document in his hand.

“Chief Su, according to Allen’s confession, several targets on this list are related to some early projects of the Virus Research Institute.”

Su Wanqing took the document and quickly scanned it. "Early-stage project? What kind of project?"

“Allen only said it was about research on the genetic modification and targeted transmission of the virus, without knowing any specific details. He emphasized that the rebels were hunting these people down because they possessed deep secrets about the virus and could pose a threat to their plans. He advised us to remain vigilant towards these individuals while cooperating with the rebels,” Lin Che reported.

Su Wanqing closed the file, lost in thought. "Stay vigilant... Allen's reminder seems to hold a hidden meaning."

Lu Zhao frowned and said, "He is implying that the people on this list may not only know the secrets of the virus, but also the secrets of the rebels."

“Possibly.” Su Wanqing’s gaze fell on a name on the list—Zhou Ming.

"According to the information, Zhou Ming worked as a data analyst at the Virology Institute, where he was responsible for compiling and analyzing experimental data. He likely had access to a large amount of information about virus samples."

“Zhou Ming…” Xiao Ran walked to Su Wanqing’s side and looked at the list.

“I think I’ve heard this name before. He has given presentations on viral mutations at some private academic conferences. His theories are controversial, but he has put forward some novel ideas.”

Su Wanqing's eyes lit up. "You know him?"

"I'm not familiar with him. I've only heard his name and think he's very capable, able to raise questions that we didn't even think of at the time."

Xiao Ran recalled, "At the time, I thought his ideas were a bit extreme, but now it seems that he may have already grasped some key information."

“A biased viewpoint… perhaps he discovered the truth about the virus.”

Su Wanqing muttered to herself. She suddenly remembered that Zhou Ming had mentioned a special energy field in his report, which might be related to the activity of the virus.

"Lu Zhao, retrieve Zhou Ming's detailed information and analyze it carefully. Pay special attention to his possible relationship with the jade bracelet space," Su Wanqing ordered.

Lu Zhao responded and immediately began to act.
