Chapter 235 The Deluded Fool

Chapter 235. The Deranged Fool

Yin Ju's office tent always had its curtains wide open. When Jiang Jianxin entered the tent, she saw a boy in a black executive jacket talking to two other people at the table while holding a thermos.

The two people were sitting with their backs to the tent entrance, and judging from their figures, they were people Jiang Jianxin did not recognize.

Yin Ju took a sip of tea, and through the rising steam, he caught a glimpse of Jiang Jianxin. He paused slightly, then beckoned:
"Jiang Jianxin?"

Jiang Jianxin entered the tent and glanced at the two people sitting at the table.

On the left was a woman dressed in a black robe, with a silver mask covering most of her face, except for the crescent moon emblem on her chest that gleamed coldly in the sunlight.

On the right was a young man with a cigarette dangling from his lips. His cowboy hat was pulled low, and the muscle lines under his leather vest were faintly visible. The handles of the two revolvers at his waist gleamed with a dull metallic sheen in the firelight.

He had a neatly trimmed short beard on his chin, and the embers of his cigarette flickered in the dim tent.

Yin Ju placed the teacup back on the table, noticed Jiang Jianxin's appraising gaze, and introduced himself:
"These two are the leader of the Assassin's Guild and the president of the Gunners' Guild."

He then looked at the two people at the table and said:

"This is Elder Jiang Jianxin of the War Alliance."

The title of the world's number one war tycoon was legendary. The two men turned around almost instantly, their gazes falling on her simultaneously, and then they bowed respectfully.
"Lord Sword Master."

Jiang Jianxin's gaze shifted slightly, landing on the cigarette between the man in the cowboy hat's fingers, and his brows furrowed imperceptibly.

This guy doesn't smoke outside; he insists on puffing away in the tent, making Yin Ju's office a smoky mess. She took a drag of the pungent secondhand smoke as soon as she stepped in, and her throat immediately felt uncomfortable.

A hint of displeasure flashed in Jiang Jianxin's eyes.

The man in the cowboy hat keenly noticed the change in the Sword Master's eyes and, almost reflexively, stubbed out his cigarette in his teacup. He took off his hat and pressed it to his chest, apologizing repeatedly.
"This is truly offensive, Sword Master."

Jiang Jianxin raised his eyebrows.

The biggest advantage of having a high status is that everyone will instantly learn to read her mood and act accordingly.

She didn't respond to their greetings, but instead looked at Yin Ju and said:
"Do you have a moment to talk in private?"

Yin Ju nodded and followed Jiang Jianxin out of the tent.

He was slightly taken aback when he saw Xie Yan outside the tent:
"Who is this……"

Jiang Jianxin briefly explained his plan to him, and the latter was somewhat surprised:
"Foolish Society is planning to recruit Qin Xuan, the chief commander... Do you also want to switch to Foolish Society?"

Yin Ju looked as if the sky had fallen and said:

"What's so great about the Fools' Society that makes you so attached to it?"

Xie Yan, standing to the side, coughed and covered his mouth, saying:
"Uh, I think the Fools' Society is pretty good."

Jiang Jianxin smiled, patted Xie Yan on the shoulder, and said to Yin Ju:
"Let's send someone to take Xie Yange to the Chief Commander's tent to talk to her and see what she thinks."

Yin Ju called over Xiao Zhang and had Zhang Qiuyue take Xie Yan to Qin Xuan's tent.

With no one unfamiliar present, he looked at Jiang Jianxin and continued to ask:
"Are you really going to switch jobs to Fool's Club?"

He wasn't trying to stop Jiang Jianxin, but simply felt that it was inappropriate for a leader of a war faction to switch sides to a chaotic force. Seeing Jiang Jianxin calmly nod, Yin Ju tried to persuade him:
"Did you know that the Fools' Society is essentially a non-governmental organization, and there are no welfare benefits there?"

It would have been better if Yin Ju hadn't mentioned it; as soon as the topic of benefits and compensation came up, Jiang Jianxin was filled with resentment:

"The War Alliance requires you to work a full year before you can receive your year-end bonus... and now it's going to collapse, and I haven't received any benefits either."

Yin Ju remained silent.

Because he didn't receive his year-end bonus either.

He coughed, thought for a moment, and then tried to persuade him from a different angle:

"Well... strong people like us probably don't need those benefits—but I'm thinking that the Fools' Society is an organization where fools confine themselves to their own little world, and 99% of them are fools."

"You know, when there are too many fools, life can easily become abstract. I feel that you're used to living in the war camp, so you might not be able to adapt to the atmosphere of the fool circle."

Jiang Jianxin said dismissively:

"How abstract can it get?"

Yin Ju leaned close to her ear and whispered:
"I also heard from a rumor that because the Fools have such severe information cocoons and their cognition is generally problematic, they have set up dozens of departments internally based on the different types of cocoons and differences in cognition."

"Take the History Department, which is set up according to the differences in understanding of the current era, for example. It is divided into more than ten subgroups, such as the Modern Group, Steam Group, Dynasty Group, Primitive Group, etc."

"The most absurd thing is that everyone in the group believes that the name of their group reflects the current era."

He succinctly summarized:
"...In short, they are insane beyond imagination. Normal people like us would only feel that our worldview has collapsed."

Jiang Jianxin fell silent.

She knew that the Fools belonged to the idealist group, but she didn't expect them to even get the era wrong.

—Facing the skyscrapers of the post-apocalyptic world and the flashing, glaring neon advertising screens, would there really be a group of people arguing about whether it's the steam age or a primitive society?
Jiang Jianxin couldn't understand.

Just as she realized the vast difference between war and light after talking with the strategist of light, she also deeply realized the gap between her own thinking and that of the fool.

Although she couldn't understand, she didn't necessarily have to. Jiang Jianxin gritted her teeth and said firmly, against her will:
"A little crazy is good, I like being crazy - I've lived a mundane and boring life for over twenty years, now I just want to see something explosive."

Yin Ju gasped. This time, he completely gave up on trying to dissuade him, and simply said, "..."
"Okay... then the Fool Society certainly meets the criteria."

He remembered something and reminded him again:
"But don't rush to switch sides. You'll have to wait. The War Alliance's personnel arrangements haven't been finalized yet, so you're still nominally an elder of the alliance."

"Once the new personnel arrangements are finalized and the War Alliance Elders' Council is reorganized, you will be removed from the position, and then you can switch sides."

Jiang Jianxin nodded and said familiarly:

"I know. Before the new personnel arrangements are made, I plan to stay in Haidu and not go back to the Dawn Base. I'm afraid of getting involved in something bad."

"Once the personnel arrangements are finalized, I'll jump ship directly, and then I'll decide where to go next."

It's a little late because I had to revise it again.
