Chapter 303 Success!
"We need to think about what to use to package these bittersweet candy tea bags."
Zane frowned and nodded in agreement. Indeed. These bitter candies were preserved in honey, unlike the dry ones Josh had packaged before. We'll need to think of a better way to package them.
"But don't rush, I'll ask someone else later, you can go on to the next one."
Zane nodded: "These bitter candy dried fruits are made by drying them in the sun and then marinating them with refreshing mint and fine sugar. I've tried many other combinations, but none of them are as good as refreshing mint."
He handed me a fresh, invigorating sprig of mint.
Josh took it, lowered his head and took a gentle sniff; the cool scent went straight to his brain.
"Did you bring this yourself? I've never seen mint like this in Chaoyang City before. It's quite different from the mint I grow on the farm."
"Yes, this is something I brought from school. It's a local specialty and it's very different from regular mint."
"What about the cost? This mint must be expensive, right?" Josh looked at him, hoping that the price he quoted would put her mind at ease.
"Ten federal points per piece."
"Ten federal points? That's not expensive. Wait, you said per piece? This thing is sold by the piece?!" Josh was shocked.
She's even more cunning than her; she sells mint by the piece.
"This price is reasonable, not expensive," Zain said with a smile.
"Huh?" Josh turned to look at him, incredulous.
"The flavor of the refreshing mint is quite strong; one leaf can infuse a lot of fruit. Don't worry, the cost won't be very high," Zane explained to her with a smile.
"Phew, that's good," Josh patted his chest, startling her.
Compared to the bitter candy drink, Josh clearly preferred the refreshing dried fruit. He sucked on a small piece and felt refreshed, his mind instantly clear.
Although it doesn't have the same energy as those other foods, its energizing effect is undeniable.
Not to mention it's small and easy to carry, Josh is very optimistic about it.
"Are there any stable purchasing channels?" Josh asked, frowning.
I don't know where to buy things that aren't available locally.
"Um, oh, Mr. Josh, can you forgive me for bringing in my own agenda?" Zane asked hesitantly.
Smuggling in his own agenda? Josh looked at him suspiciously, then a thought struck him and he realized what was going on.
"You mean you have this stimulant mint?"
“Yes, we planted these when we were still in school, and harvested them all when we graduated. I got half of them.” Zane quickly took them out of his spatial device and put them in a finely stitched white silk bag.
“There are ten bags like this.” Zain revealed a cunning smile.
Of course, Josh thought he was rather cunning, but he himself felt that he looked very honest and simple.
Josh licked his lips, his expression somewhat unreadable: "A whole bag of these energizing mints would probably bankrupt me."
"Ah! How could that be!" Zain said righteously, "You can pay later after you use it. Just settle the bill with me when the bitter candy is sold." He had already thought it through.
Seeing Josh's sinister gaze, Zane raised his hands in surrender: "I swear, this is absolutely the most suitable combination that I have found after many experiments. This is not a personal preference, it's true."
Josh looked away, deciding to believe him for the time being.
"Once Aunt Rose's egg yolk pastries are done, you two can discuss and determine the optimal ingredient ratio for these two bitter candies. Let me know then." Josh was too lazy to argue with him about these things. Since neither Zuo You Farm nor Chaoyang City had this kind of mint, he would just buy it from him for now.
If she continues to deliberately mislead the farm's research and development in subsequent work, she shouldn't blame her for firing her.
"Okay, okay." Zain became obedient, wiping away sweat as if he were deliberately trying to cause trouble in front of his boss.
He swore this was absolutely the last time; he just acted on impulse, thinking he happened to have some, and started researching how it would be compatible with menthol mint.
But clearly, this selfish research made the boss very unhappy, and he dared not do it again. Next time, no, there will be no next time.
Back in Rose's large kitchen, the anxious chef was diligently cleaning the already clean area, trying to distract himself.
"Aunt Rose," Josh called out to her, instructing her to supervise each other's work with Zane, adjust the ingredient ratios appropriately, and look out for each other.
Rose readily agreed to Josh's new instructions, nodding repeatedly.
She and the young man next door both worked in the same place, so of course they had to look out for each other and work hard for the farm.
Aunt Rose was a conscientious woman. Even if her hands were greasy from work, she would wipe them clean before going home. In her words, an upright person would never take a single penny of public property.
She kept a close distance.
This is experience gained from long-term work.
Josh believed she could convey this work ethic to Zain.
After they finished talking, Rose exclaimed, "The stove!"
The two hurriedly turned around to look; it was time.
Rose put on thick cooking gloves, opened the oven door, and carefully moved the batch of egg yolk pastries she had just made out.
Four eyes were fixed intently on the baking pan.
The sesame seeds are shiny black, the egg skin is golden yellow, and the egg is round and plump.
This time, there was no breach!
"It's a success! Boss Josh, look, it's a success! You really are amazing at solving those problems you mentioned!" Rose was even more excited than her, her face beaming with joy.
Even Zain next door was alarmed.
"What's wrong?" he asked, rushing to the two of them in a daze.
“Perfect timing, Zane, you stay and try it out. See how good Aunt Rose’s new egg yolk pastry is.”
“Egg yolk pastry? Oh, the one Aunt Rose always makes, okay, okay.” Zane couldn’t possibly disagree.
Freshly baked egg yolk pastries are not at their best in terms of taste. They are best enjoyed after they have cooled completely, which is also the key time to test whether the pastry is truly crisp and crumbly.
But after their first success, Josh and Rose couldn't wait to cut open a piping hot egg yolk pastry and try it.
With one cut, the golden oil oozes out of the center of the duck egg. One bite, it's hot, but satisfying. Ah, delicious!
Zain, who was left to taste the food, was speechless. He took a bite, his eyes widened, and he stuffed the food into his mouth in a few bites.
"Good, good, delicious, so fragrant!" He mumbled, still with crumbs of pastry at the corners of his mouth, as he tried to swallow.
"Slow down, young man, aren't you afraid of getting burned?" With this success, Rose finally managed to stand up.
Now she was even annoyed by Zain's impatience. She wondered who had been so excited and eager to taste it just moments before.
