Chapter 150 Movies and TV Series

After reviewing the scripts for the art-house films, Li Boda found none that appealed to him, so he rejected them all.

However, many of the scripts for commercial films caught Li Boda's eye.

For example, Feng Gangpao's "If You Are the One".

As one of the three major directors in China, and with this film being a comedy, which is Feng Gangpao's forte, Li Boda was overjoyed that the script was handed to him. However, the only reason Li Boda was invited to play a supporting role was that he was only playing a minor one.

Clearly, Feng Gangpao didn't take Li Boda, the actor, seriously at all. The reason he sent Li Boda an invitation was simply because Li Boda was somewhat popular. He just casually invited him to give the movie some publicity, nothing more.

However, for a newcomer just starting out in the film industry, being able to act in Feng Gangpao's film is already a pretty good opportunity, even if it's just a minor role.

So Li Boda didn't plan to refuse. He could take a couple of days off to film on the set of "If You Are the One," which would be great. In fact, countless actors in the entertainment industry would love to have such an opportunity.

Besides "If You Are the One," there was another big opportunity: an invitation from internationally renowned director Wu Baige, who had just returned from Hollywood, to play a relatively important supporting role as Sun Shucai in the film "Red Cliff." Although Li Boda had absolutely no recollection of the name, mainly because he hadn't previously paid much attention to the Three Kingdoms period.

However, both Wu Baige, an internationally renowned director who returned from Hollywood, and a major production like "Red Cliff" were very tempting to Li Boda, so he naturally did not want to give up on this film.

Of course, there is another project that is even more tempting than [Red Cliff], which is [King of Kung Fu].

First of all, this is a Sino-foreign co-production film, and the director himself is a Hollywood director. Most importantly, the two male leads of this film are Jackie Chan and Jet Li!
Putting everything else aside, just for these two individuals alone, it's safe to say that no one in China could resist this temptation.

One person is fine, but two people working together is a first!

It's a pity that even if Li Boda had starred in "The Forbidden Kingdom", he would still only have played a minor role.

However, a small role is still a small role. For someone like Li Boda, who has just started to enter the film industry, being able to play a small role in such a big film is already very rare.

There were indeed some movies that cast Li Boda as the male lead, such as a script called "Hard Man".

However, after reading the script for "Hard Man", Li Boda lost all interest.

The script for this tough guy isn't particularly good, nor is it particularly bad, but overall it just feels rather uninteresting.

The story of a naval soldier who was forced to relocate due to a head injury, becoming mentally challenged, and then wanting to fight for justice.

In essence, many details are similar to [Tengu], but in reality, it is far inferior to [Tengu].

It doesn't qualify as an art film, and it's not exciting enough as a commercial film.

There's also "Perfect Imperfection," a period comedy. Li Boda glanced at the script and was offered the lead role of a carpenter emperor. The plot was terrible, and he even thought the script was worse than "Tough Guy."

Li Boda shook his head repeatedly.

He's capable of playing the male lead in low-budget scripts, but most of the scripts are terrible and the characters aren't particularly memorable.

Most big-budget films don't give Li Boda a chance, and even if they do, he only gets to play minor supporting roles.

"Take it slow!" Li Boda tossed aside all the invitations he had, keeping only three: invitations to "If You Are the One," "Red Cliff," and "The Forbidden Kingdom." They were all minor supporting roles, each filming only lasting a few days, practically cameos.

As for invitations to TV dramas, needless to say, there were tons of them.

Li Boda only glanced at it briefly; it included things like Zhang Dahuzi's Jin Yong dramas, such as "The Deer and the Cauldron" and "Crossing the Guandong."

Although the script was good, the protagonist's character was not appealing to Li Boda. Moreover, now that Li Boda was starting to enter the film industry, he really didn't want to touch these TV series anymore.

After Li Boda finished reading the scripts, he returned to the "Magic Phone" crew to continue filming. The film was nearing its end and would wrap up in just two or three days at most.

To be honest, Li Boda was quite looking forward to it.

After all, the character design of You Suowei, the male protagonist of "Magic Phone," is the type that Li Boda particularly likes.

The domineering CEO is not only a business genius, but also quite skilled in technology. He even copied the system of the magical phone "Silly Girl" from the future.

If the ratings for "Magic Phone" are good after this TV series airs, Li Boda might just become a business genius, start his own company, and become his own boss.

There's a significant gap between a company boss and a celebrity.

Not to mention, You Suowei's character also has some knowledge of technology, so Li Boda might be able to come up with some high-tech gadgets.

……

"Cut! That scene is done! I hereby declare [Magic Phone] officially wrapped!!!" the director shouted. Hearing the director's words, the entire crew cheered and jumped for joy.

Li Boda was also happy, preparing to attend the wrap party.

Just then, Li Boda's assistant, Xiaoyuan, came running over: "Brother Da, your phone."

"My phone?" Li Boda took the phone from Xiaoyuan and saw that the person who had just called him was none other than Fan Bingbing.

Thinking of Fan Bingbing, Li Boda dialed back immediately.

"Hello? Bingbing, are you calling me to tell me when Apple will be released in mainland China?" Li Boda asked with a smile.

"...Aren't you just asking the obvious? How could the movie 'Apple' possibly be shown in mainland China?" Fan Bingbing said irritably on the other end of the phone.

"You knew this was the situation, yet you still filmed it like this."

"I wanted to become an international movie queen, but who knew I'd end up with nothing. On the contrary, you've become a movie king now, and you don't care about me anymore, your wife. You look down on me, right?" Fan Bingbing said resentfully.

"How could that be? I not only care about you, I want to keep you close to my heart."

"Pah! I knew it, all you men have in your heads is that kind of dirty stuff."

"You talk as if your mind is completely clean," Li Boda retorted without holding back.

"...You really rejected the script for 'Rouge Snow' so decisively. Have you really forgotten all about our relationship? You're really cold-hearted."

"Where have I been cold-hearted? It's clearly you who are cold-hearted and unreasonable."

"..." Fan Bingbing was speechless. As soon as Li Boda opened his mouth, she realized that he was making fun of her by referencing "Princess Pearl".

"Shut up! When people mention me as a criminal, they call me Jin Suo." Fan Bingbing said irritably.

"Okay, okay, I won't say anymore, I won't say anymore. [Rouge Snow]? Why did you suddenly bring this up?"

"What do you mean I suddenly brought this up? I wanted to work with you again to film the TV series 'Rouge Snow,' but you just rejected it outright."

"Um, I'm not really interested in TV dramas right now, and I didn't even know you'd be playing 'Rouge Snow'," Li Boda protested.

"...Don't you know that I am the producer of [Rouge Snow]?"

"Uh, I really didn't know that. I didn't notice that when I was reading the script—"

"Didn't I tell you before? I've set up my own personal studio, and to get things going, I put together a project myself—the TV series 'Rouge Snow.' I invested in it, assembled a production team, and became the producer. So, Li Boda, please help me. You know I'm in a really tough spot right now; I can't even get any roles. If this investment fails, I'll lose everything and be laughed at for the rest of my life. So, Boda, please help me, okay?" Fan Bingbing said in a coquettish tone.

"...Don't exaggerate like that. You've done quite a few movies in Hong Kong before, do you think I don't know that? And do you think I don't know about your collaboration with the Northwest Film Circle?" Li Boda directly exposed Fan Bingbing's lies.

"Do you know that with your personality, you'll never get a girlfriend?"

Do you think I'll have trouble finding a girlfriend?

"...Anyway, I don't care, I just want you to help me, please help me, Boda, I'm really in trouble right now. Just help me this once, just this once. If you help me, I'll let you do whatever you want with me, any position is fine," Fan Bingbing tempted.

"It's like you've never tried any of those positions before," Li Boda teased.

"...Li Boda!!!"

"Okay, okay, I'll help you this once, just this once!"

And so it was settled: Li Boda would star in the drama "Rouge Snow," produced by Fan Bingbing.

In fact, Li Boda himself was not opposed to this kind of thing.

Although Li Boda had not read the script for "Rouge Snow" beforehand, he was not worried that the script would be of poor quality.

After all, this was a project that Fan Bingbing had started her own studio, and she attached great importance to it. If the script was bad, she wouldn't have done it at all.

What Fan Bingbing needs now is success, so the script for "Rouge Snow" may not become a classic, but it will definitely not be made into a bad movie.
