Chapter 229. The Heart of Stars
The temple was silent. All the winged people were still immersed in the incredible miracle they had just witnessed, staring blankly at the data on the monitoring screens, which had not yet returned to normal.

Lan Yi Garuda slowly walked forward, his steps even a little unsteady. He came to Su Yaoyao, looking at her pale but peaceful sleeping face, and then at the clansmen in the life pods who were clearly recovering.

He was silent for a long time.

Then, this proud Wing King, in front of all his clansmen and all his beastmen, slowly and solemnly knelt on one knee before the unconscious Su Yaoyao.

He lowered his head, his voice hoarse and trembling, yet filled with unprecedented sincerity and reverence:

"...The Winged Clan...thanks to the Holy Mother's grace."

This time, it's no longer a transaction, no longer a compromise, but a heartfelt and most sublime expression of gratitude.

Augustine held Su Yaoyao in his arms, looking at Garuda kneeling on the ground. The wariness in his eyes finally dissipated, turning into a complex sense of approval.

The other winged people in the temple seemed to be awakened as well, and they all bowed their heads respectfully in Su Yaoyao's direction.

Initial trust was finally and painstakingly established through these silent acts of healing and gratitude.

Su Yaoyao slept soundly in Augustine's arms for a whole day. When she woke up again, she found herself in a luxurious but cold room decorated with the metallic wing patterns unique to the Winged Race, but the fresh green plants that Pani had specially brought from the Empire by the window added a touch of warmth.

As soon as she opened her eyes, the beastmen who had been guarding her immediately surrounded her with concern.

"Yao Yao, how are you feeling?" Augustine's voice was filled with undisguised worry.

"It's alright, just a little weak." Su Yaoyao smiled slightly and tried to sit up. Pani quickly helped her up and handed her a glass of warm water with a nourishing potion in it.

"You've gone too far!" Rig couldn't help but scold, but his tone was full of lingering fear. "Such widespread guidance, what if..."

“I know my limits,” Su Yaoyao interrupted him softly, taking his hand. “But it’s necessary. Only when they see and feel hope firsthand can we truly establish ourselves here, instead of living forever in suspicion and distrust.” She paused, then asked, “And then… what happened?”

Lucia replied gently, “The effect is very good. All the critically ill patients who received your energy resonance have seen their vital signs stabilize and their pain significantly reduced. The Winged Clan medical officers call it a ‘miracle.’ Lan Yi Garuda, he…” Lucia paused, “He has come to see you several times, and his attitude… has changed a lot.”

Just then, footsteps sounded outside the door. Lan Yi Garuda's voice came through the communicator, his tone unusually polite: "Has the Holy Mother awakened? Would it be convenient for us to meet?"

Augustine frowned, but still gestured for the guards to open the door.

Lan Yi Garuda entered. He was still dressed in royal robes, but the cold, oppressive aura around him had lessened considerably. His silver eyes held a complex mix of emotions: concern, gratitude, and an anxious urge to confirm something. "How are you feeling?" he asked stiffly, clearly unaccustomed to this manner.

"It's alright, thank you for your concern." Su Yaoyao nodded. "Is there something you need, Prince Yi?"

Lan Yi Garuda took a deep breath and cut straight to the point: "Your previous power... that resonance, could... its range be expanded? Or, could its frequency be increased?" There was a hint of urgency in his voice, "Outside the temple, countless people are suffering. Their condition may be slightly better, but they are also slowly decaying..."

The device on his wrist projected a panoramic view of Skywing City, with many areas marked in a dark red, representing high-risk zones for genetic collapse. "Especially the 'Winged Incubation Center' and the 'Civilian Settlement,' new tragedies occur every day."

Su Yaoyao remained silent for a moment. She understood Lan Yi Garuda's urgency, but she also knew her own limits.

“Large-scale, high-frequency resonance is something I cannot achieve at the moment,” she admitted. “That would require immense power and mental control, be extremely taxing, and could even damage my very essence. Salvation requires a gradual approach, Wing King.”

A hint of disappointment flashed in Lan Yi's eyes, but he did not demand or express dissatisfaction as before; his brows simply furrowed even more.

“However,” Su Yaoyao changed the subject, “there might be a compromise. I need to understand more deeply the root cause of your genetic collapse. Take me to your gene bank to see your oldest historical records, records of your peak power. Only by finding the source of the disease can we develop a more efficient and lasting treatment plan, instead of just relying on my repeated power outputs to alleviate the symptoms.”

She looked at Lan Yi with sharp eyes: "Or rather, King Yi, do you only want a temporary painkiller, or do you want to find a real cure for your people?"

Lan Yi shuddered. Su Yaoyao's words struck him hard once again. Of course, he wanted a complete cure, but the long period of despair had made him almost afraid to even harbor such a hope. Now, with Su Yaoyao pointing it out again, the faint flame in his heart reignited.

“...Follow me.” Without the slightest hesitation, he immediately turned and led the way.

The Winged Race's Ancient Gene Bank and Heritage Temple, located at the deepest part of Skywing City, is even more heavily guarded than the Gene Temple. It stores the Winged Race's oldest genetic samples and most primitive historical records, and is considered the race's last remaining flame.

After passing through layers of energy verification and identity scanning, the massive silver door slid open silently. Inside, it wasn't the high-tech laboratory one might expect, but rather resembled an ancient temple. Towering crystal pillars stood tall, each containing models of various forms of the Winged Race's genetic chains. The walls were covered with ancient murals and incomprehensible interstellar script, recording the Winged Race's glorious origins and long evolutionary history.

An ancient and desolate atmosphere permeated the air.

Lan Yi pointed to a section of the mural, which depicted the earliest winged race, their wings as dazzling as stars, capable of easily traversing black holes and drawing upon stellar energy. "This is the source of our power, recorded as a gift from the energy of an ancient cosmic singularity called the 'Heart of Stars.' But as time passed, this power gradually became unstable within our bloodline, ultimately becoming a shackle..."

Su Yaoyao stared intently at the murals, sensing the faint residual energy contained within them. She reached out and gently touched a crystal pillar that contained the oldest genetic sample.

Om-!
The moment her fingertips touched the cold crystal, a vast, chaotic, yet incredibly familiar energy surged into her mind!
