Chapter 381 Die Together
Jiang Chengxu and Xu Manman died in that fire.

The wind wasn't strong that night, but the fire started in the middle of the night. At that time, everyone was already asleep, and by the time people were awakened, the fire had already spread.

Half of the alley was affected.

The next day, the space was still filled with the smell of burning.

Shao Qiyun waited all night but her son did not return. The next day, when she learned from Jiang Yulan that her son had committed suicide by self-immolation, she looked up at Jiang Yulan.

Her gaze was so calm that Jiang Yulan dared not meet it.

“Yulan, Chengxu hated me until his death. I shouldn’t have helped him break off the engagement.” Shao Qiyun said, her face showing a smile that was more like a grimace. “I didn’t want to get married back then, but you persuaded me, saying it didn’t matter, that it would be easy to kick him out later.”

These are Jiang Yulan's original words. She also said that as long as Xu Qinghuan is not allowed to give birth to Jiang Chengxu's child, even the deepest feelings between husband and wife will fade. How could Jiang Chengxu not resent not having a son to carry on the family line for so long?

“I took your words to heart. But then, Xu Qinghuan came to break off the engagement. Under those circumstances, how could I not break it off? How could I not break it off!” Shao Qiyun covered her face and cried bitterly.

Jiang Yulan breathed a sigh of relief, fearing that Shao Qiyun would get stuck on something.

“Chengxu is suffering a lot living like this. My brother is already like this, but you are still young, you have to move forward.”

Shao Qiyun covered her face and cried for a long time. When Jiang Yulan became a little impatient, she finally raised her head and said, "He's been burned to ashes, so let him go with the wind to wherever he wants to go!"

Two fires!

“I should move on too, Yulan. Will you come with me?” Shao Qiyun stood up, a boning knife in her hand. Her face suddenly contorted with rage as she lunged at Jiang Yulan.

Before Jiang Yulan could react, the sound of a sharp object piercing flesh rang out. She lay back on the sofa, her eyes wide open, staring at Shao Qiyun in disbelief, and asked with difficulty, "Why?"

"Why? To avenge my son!" Shao Qiyun cried. "Don't worry, I won't live either. He only ended up like this because of Xu Qinghuan. I was wrong, Xu Manman was wrong, and you were wrong too!"

"You, you, you're crazy!" Blood spilled from the corner of Jiang Yulan's mouth. She was in so much pain that her brows furrowed. As Shao Qiyun pulled out the knife, her body convulsed violently, blood spurted out, and she lowered her head, her forehead resting on her legs, and slowly fell to the side.

Shao Qiyun held the boning knife, her hands and body covered in blood. She couldn't describe her feelings at that moment; she was excited and had no regrets. It seemed like she should have done this a long time ago.

What did her son do wrong? He and Xu Qinghuan were clearly a perfect couple. A large part of her dissatisfaction with Xu Qinghuan stemmed from the fact that she didn't have a say in her son's marriage.

It was Jiang Yulan who instigated her, and it was Jiang Youliang who did all sorts of bad things, which gave Xu Qinghuan the opportunity to break off the engagement. It's all their fault; they're the ones who ruined their son.

She was the one who ruined her son.

"Ah, murder!" Aunt Yue heard the commotion and ran out to see what was happening. The room was filled with the smell of blood. She saw Shao Qiyun stabbing herself with a knife. She screamed and fainted.

The ambulance arrived with sirens blaring. Xu Qinghuan had just come out of the hospital and saw the stretcher being carried down, so she quickly moved aside.

Both of them were still breathing faintly, and their faces were not yet covered with white cloths. Xu Qinghuan could clearly recognize the two people.

She paused briefly, then turned and walked upstairs to Lu Mingxu's ward.

Lu Mingxu's bed was moved to the window. Only a few withered flowers remained on the magnolia tree, but new buds burst forth on the branches, their tender green gleaming in the sunlight.

Lu Mingxu leaned against the headboard, staring blankly outside. All the sounds, people, and things in the outside world had nothing to do with him; he was living in his own world.

Xu Qinghuan sat in the ward for a while, then heard nurses moving around outside, running towards the operating room.

About half an hour later, the atmosphere outside changed, and a sense of dejection spread. She went out and looked towards the operating room, where she heard the nurses talking. "Neither of them could be saved."

"The Jiang family members, the sisters-in-law... they're all dead."

"I heard that the sister-in-law stabbed the sister-in-law. One stab hit her right in the lung and ruptured her liver, while the other severed her major artery. How can she possibly survive!"

"What happened to the Jiang family? My God, it's so tragic! In less than a year, several people have already died!"

Xu Qinghuan leaned against the door frame and listened for a while. Jiang Yulan was dead, someone she hadn't expected. However, this person had always controlled Shao Qiyun. Jiang Chengxu was dead, and she had actually been stabbed to death by Shao Qiyun.

Xu Qinghuan took a kitten out of her bag and placed it in Lu Mingxu's hands so he could feel its fluffy texture.

Lu Mingxu's hand trembled slightly. He lowered his eyes and tried to pull his hand away, but the kitten held his thumb. His hand seemed to have escaped his control and was placed under the kitten's bottom.

"Do you like it?" Xu Qinghuan asked.

Lu Mingxu looked up at Xu Qinghuan, his eyes still glazed over, but his pupils started to move. He didn't say anything.

Xu Qinghuan said, "If you like me, you can keep me; if you don't, I can take me with me."

The kitten reached out and licked his finger. Lu Mingxu gently pinched the kitten's paw with two fingers. The toes were sharp but not open, pricking his finger and causing a slight pain.

He nodded, then shook his head, and placed his other hand on the kitten's back.

Xu Qinghuan stood up. "No one in this world is obligated to be kind to you, and no one is obligated not to hurt you. Be brave and be a man!"

After she finished speaking, she put a pill into Lu Mingxu's mouth. "It will hurt a little, but your leg will get better. From now on, it will be your responsibility!"

The door was closed, but a sound came from inside the ward. The kitten meowed and kneaded his arm, its expression showing impatience.

Lu Mingxu looked at the tabby kitten, his lips moving slightly, "Sister!"

The corridor was quiet, with guards on both sides preventing anyone from passing through.

Martial law has been imposed here.

Xu Qinghuan glanced at it and went down the stairs.

Separated by a wall, Shao Lizhong inserted a needle into an acupuncture point on Lu Zongsheng's head, and his words became clearer: "I'm already one foot in the grave. I have no other requests for the organization. I just want to see my son."

The visitor said, "He made a mistake, and the organization is helping him to improve."

"He made a mistake, a huge mistake, but the one who truly brought disaster to the country and caused this terrible error was not him, but Jiang Zhenguo." Lu Zongsheng spoke with some difficulty.

“If I were still alive, I wouldn’t hesitate to kill him right now. My grandson is still in the hospital. He already has no mother, he can’t be without a father too.”

"I'll use my life to exchange for the organization's forgiveness just once... just once!" Lu Zongsheng said, then coughed violently, as if he would die at any moment.

Shao Lizhong dared not delay and quickly removed the needles from his head.

Lu Zongsheng closed his eyes, his face flushed, looking like he was barely breathing.
