Chapter 988 Slap in the face
Zhang Yurong felt a little guilty; she couldn't reveal that she had secretly found someone to adjust her body: "We parted ways halfway. I went to a friend's place, and he hasn't returned yet?"

Mrs. Fu shook her head and continued sweeping the floor.

Before long, the eldest couple returned, carrying half a net bag of oranges: "Mom, we're back."

Just as Zhang Yurong was about to go inside, she saw what they were holding: "Oh, where did you get these oranges, brother and sister-in-law?"

Guo Wenjing smiled slightly: "A friend brought these for Jin Yue and the others."

Before Zhang Yurong could say anything more, the three children from the main room in the living room ran out, calling out, "Dad, Mom!"

As Guo Wenjing caught the youngest child, Fu Jinyun, she also noticed the scraps of paper in the yard: "What happened here?"

Fu Jinyue said awkwardly, "Mom, it's my fault for not keeping a close eye on Jincheng and the others. They cut Grandma's red paper into tiny pieces and scattered them all over the yard."

Just as Zhang Yurong was about to push open the door, she turned around and said, "Look at you all, not only did you ruin that red paper, but you also made your grandmother clean the yard. You really don't know any better."

Upon hearing this, Guo Wenjing's face darkened. Just as she was about to say something, she heard Fu's mother say, "Don't just talk about those siblings. Your son is acting like a quail in the living room. He took this paper from my room."

Guo Wenjing wasn't in a hurry to say anything now. She just looked at her eldest daughter, Fu Jinyue, and said, "Since you threw it in the yard, then you should clean it up."

As she spoke, she pointed to the broom in her mother-in-law's hand: "Aren't you going?"

Fu Jinyue didn't argue, and ran forward to take the broom from her grandmother's hand: "Grandma, I'll sweep."

After straightening up, Fu's mother said, "Yueyue was going to sweep before, but I thought it was too cold outside today, so I didn't let her sweep."

As soon as she finished speaking, Fu Jinyi from the third branch of the family ran out of the living room, stared at the net bag in his aunt's hand, and looked at his mother: "Mom, I want to eat oranges."

Zhang Yurong laughed, "Daughter, if you want oranges, you have to ask your aunt. I don't have any here." Guo Wenjing glanced at the things Zhang Yurong was carrying.

It wasn't that she was reluctant to part with an orange; it was that Zhang Yurong was very selfish. Her own children had never received any snacks from her, their aunt, but when she saw her own children eating snacks, she would always make her daughter come and beg from her.

Seeing her sister-in-law looking at what she was carrying, Zhang Yurong instinctively hid it behind her back: "This isn't food."

He then pushed open the door and entered the house.

He patted his chest, still shaken, as he entered the house.

It would have been fine if she hadn't said these things, but this attempt to cover up the truth only made Guo Wenjing think that she didn't want to share food with her own children.

Although she eventually handed an orange to Fu Jinyi from the third branch of the family, her expression was far from pleasant.

However, she didn't explode in the end. She took a few and handed them to her mother-in-law: "Mom, you should try some too."

There are still some oranges in the small storage room at home, but they're not as fresh, and apart from giving one away on New Year's Eve and one on New Year's Day, they haven't been touched. They're waiting to be used for guests.

Fu's mother didn't want to take it: "You should leave it for the children to eat. I'm a grown woman, why would I fight with them for it?"

Guo Wenjing disagreed: "So what if they're adults? Who doesn't like to eat good food? Besides, we can't let them eat alone. They have to learn to share with others."

Since that's the case, Mrs. Fu smiled and accepted it: "Okay, I'll try it too, and thank you for thinking of me."

That's true. Of the three daughters-in-law, the eldest is the most selfless. The third daughter-in-law only uses the good things she has for her own small family. The second daughter-in-law is even more so; she's the kind of person who eats everything without leaving anything behind, so how could she possibly think of others?
