Chapter 653 Trip to the Small Market

Chu Xue had no idea that someone was plotting against her.

There's a small market not far from the hospital. Every morning, villagers from nearby villages come to exchange their own agricultural products for supplies. Yesterday, while cooking in the ward's kitchen, she overheard other family members mentioning this.

To cover her tracks, she went there early in the morning, also hoping to see if there was anything she needed.

Unexpectedly, after walking around for a while, I saw someone displaying saplings at a stall: "Comrade, what kind of saplings are these?"

The man smiled and said, "These are plum trees. One of them is the Camel Yellow Plum, and the other two are the Big Red Robe Plum. They are sweet and sour, and the fruit is delicious."

He kept rubbing his hands together as he spoke, his eyes full of anticipation.

Chu Xue already wanted it, and seeing his action, she asked, "How do I change?"

The man, hearing that there was a chance, said, "A receipt is fine, or you can pay me, whichever is more convenient for you."

He lowered his voice and asked, "How much is one?"

She doesn't have many tickets, so it's more appropriate to give her money.

The man seemed a little nervous and held up two fingers: "Do you think this is okay?"

To be honest, Chuxue didn't understand and tried asking, "Two pieces?"

The man waved his hand and shook his head, saying, "No, no, it's two cents a piece."

He then added, "If you want all three, just give me 50 cents."

Seeing that the man seemed honest, Chu Xue turned to look at the other items on the stall. To her surprise, she found several pieces of Polygonum multiflorum root next to the plum tree, which looked like they had just been dug up. This delighted her. Looking further to the side, she also saw some licorice, Scutellaria baicalensis, and Bupleurum chinense, all of which had been dug up recently.

Thinking that she could plant them in her spatial dimension, with the blessing of the pond water, she wouldn't have to worry about them not surviving. She pointed to the ones she had her eye on and said, "I want these too. How much are they in total?"

The man was even happier: "Eighty cents is fine." Seeing that Chu Xue wasn't carrying anything, he took out a wicker basket from behind him: "You can put these herbs in the basket, otherwise it will be difficult for you to carry them."

Chu Xue naturally couldn't just take someone else's basket for free, so she handed over a dollar: "Consider the extra two cents as payment for the basket."

The man was clearly surprised by Chuxue's response and quickly waved his hand, saying, "I wove the basket myself; it's not worth much. You can take it."

He reached into his pocket to take out some money to give Chuxue change.

Chu Xue squatted down and put the medicinal herbs she wanted into the basket: "No need for change. Weaving one myself would require cutting brambles and taking time. Besides, I do need a basket."

After saying that, he picked up the basket in one hand and the three saplings in the other, and left the stall with a smile.

The man's eyes were full of gratitude: "Thanks, little sister."

The space had everything, so coming here was just a formality. After looking around, I found that I didn't need anything, and since I still needed to make breakfast, I turned around and headed towards the hospital.

As they passed through a narrow alleyway between houses, seeing no one around, they slipped inside, stored their belongings in their spatial storage, and exchanged them for some flour, eggs, and vegetables, which they then put into their basket.

Then he hurried to the hospital.

Yesterday, she noticed a small steel plate in the cafeteria. After asking around, she learned that the cafeteria staff sometimes used it to cook special dishes, such as pancakes.

She's planning to make dumpling soup and egg and vegetable pancakes this morning.

Because she arrived early, there weren't many people in the ward area yet.

After explaining the situation to the person next door, the staff at the cafeteria told her to go get it herself.
