“Hmm,” Jin Yi nodded, his gaze sweeping over the tribe’s walls and the faintly visible black dots circling in the distance. “This time, I’ll have Zhu Xiu and the others escort you back first. I’ll stay here to observe for a while, and if nothing serious happens, I’ll come back to find you soon.”

His tone was firm; this was the responsibility and obligation of a junior chieftain to the tribe.

Bai Wanwan understood his decision. After thinking for a moment, she nodded in agreement: "Okay, then let's discuss it together when Zhu Xiu and the others come back."

After the eagle beast's antics, my good mood for going out to catch fish and have fun was completely ruined.

Shi Hua tried to lighten the mood, pulling Bai Wanwan's hand and suggesting, "Wanwan, since we can't go outside, why don't we come to my house? The group arrived at Shihua's house. Shihua proudly brought out several of her treasured ceramic jars, and as soon as they were opened, a rich and sweet fruity aroma wafted out.

The little creatures were all attracted by the aroma, curiously crowding over, tiptoeing to see what was in the jar, their little noses twitching, and occasionally stretching out their little paws to try and sneak a dab, keeping the stone flower busy in a whirlwind.

Bai Wanwan found it amusing, so she took out the tender, diced meat she had prepared beforehand and distributed it to the eager little gluttons to appease them.

Shuanghua curiously took the small jar from Shihua, brought it close to her nose to smell it, and exclaimed with delight, "Wow, this jam smells so good! It's sweet but not cloying, and it has a refreshing fruity aroma!"

Shi Hua smiled, her eyes crinkling with delight at the praise: "Aunt Shuang, you're right! It tastes amazing! It's all thanks to Sister Wanwan who taught me so much. I make it all the time now, and the men and kids in my family always want a bite when they're craving it. They all say it's even better than eating raw fruit!"

The males sat or stood outside, talking in hushed tones, but their eyes would occasionally glance with concern at the busy females inside.

When the hunters of Shihua returned from their hunt, they were delighted to see such a lively scene in their yard. Seeing the females busy at work, they wanted to go and help.

Shi Hua waved them away, saying, "Go away, you all go about your business! Sister Wanwan, Aunt Shuang, and I finally managed to get together to do something, so don't come and make things worse!"

The rejected males exchanged helpless smiles, then turned away to process the prey they had just brought back and prepare more food.

Just as the roasting meat sizzled over the fire, its surface turning golden and crispy, and the jam on it melted and seeped in, releasing an enticing aroma of caramel and fruit that filled the entire courtyard, Zhu Xiu, Xin Feng, and Yin Ze, who had gone out, returned.

Bai Wanwan spotted them immediately and waved to them with a smile: "You're back just in time! Come and help carry this big wooden table to the middle of the yard! It's too cramped inside, so we'll eat outside—it's spacious and cool!"

Their entire family, including the young children, numbered more than a dozen people, and they were all crammed into Shihua's house, making it impossible to move around freely.

The males immediately got to work, some moving tables, others fetching stools, and soon an outdoor dining area was set up in the yard.

They carefully arranged Bai Wanwan, Shuanghua, and Shihua in the most comfortable positions, took care of their own cubs, distributed food to them, and watched them sit down and eat obediently before finally taking their own seats.

Bai Wanwan picked up a skewer of grilled meat covered in jam, blew on it, and carefully took a bite.

Seeing that she liked it, Shihua was even happier than if she had eaten it herself: "It's a kind of black berry from the back mountain, and it's especially sweet when it's ripe! Sister Wanwan, since you like it, I made a lot of jars, and I'll take them all back with you! I'll have my husband go pick more, and I'll make more and send them to you!"

Bai Wanwan didn't stand on ceremony with her and readily agreed: "Alright! I won't stand on ceremony with you! Don't let your male go too far. Just tell me the location, and I'll have my beast husband pick it."

"Why are you being so polite with me!" Shi Hua gave her a reproachful look. "Haven't I taken enough good things from you?"

The atmosphere became relaxed and pleasant again, and everyone sat around the table, enjoying the food and the time together.

While eating, Bai Wanwan turned to look at Xin Feng beside her and lowered her voice, "Did you find anything when you went to check the area today?"
