Chapter 507 Heartbroken
The storm is coming, and it's incredibly fierce!
Almost instantly, large raindrops began to fall like dense pebbles, quickly forming a rain curtain that blurred vision.

The gale, accompanied by torrential rain, howled like ghosts and wolves, easily snapping trees as thick as bowls. Huge waves, like raging beasts, crashed fiercely against the island's coastline again and again, as if trying to devour the entire island.

The world was in chaos, with only the roar of wind and rain and the howling of the ocean remaining.

"Quick! Find a place to hide!" Zhu Xiu shouted decisively.

The males immediately braved the fierce winds that could have overturned a person and searched everywhere with great difficulty amidst the thunder and lightning.

Braving the storm, Yin Ze spread his wings to protect the female and her cubs below.

"Ahead, there's a cliff face in the sheltered area; there should be a place to take shelter there."

After hearing Yin Ze's words, the males immediately changed direction and headed towards the location Yin Ze had indicated.

This time they were lucky; they found a naturally formed depression in the mountain wall on the leeward side of the island, like a shallow and narrow cave. The entrance was small, but it was deep enough to barely shelter them from the wind and rain.

However, the recessed space is limited and cannot accommodate everyone.

Without needing to discuss it, the males made a tacit decision.

"Yin Ze, you stay with Wanwan to take care of the cubs, and let the merfolk go inside and rest together."

Upon hearing this, the male merman immediately refused, saying, "We're fine, we'll just stay outside and keep watch. You all go and rest."

After all, they had already saved their lives, and in the face of such a storm, they were too embarrassed to huddle together with the females and their offspring for shelter.

“You need to recover so that you won’t cause any extra trouble on your way back,” Zhu Xiu said bluntly.

Xin Feng quickly added, "You are not in good health and have females and cubs to take care of. We are not injured, so we will guard them."

The male merfolk were intimidated by Zhu Xiu's aura and could not utter a word of rebuttal. They had no choice but to obey his orders and, along with their females and cubs, entered the depression with Bai Wanwan and the others.

Zhu Xiu, Yan Lie, Xin Feng, Jin Yi, and Hua Han turned around without hesitation and used their bodies to block the narrow entrance, like five silent reefs, firmly keeping out the most violent storms and the most dangerous waves.

Bai Wanwan was squeezed into the relatively safe recess, while outside she could hear terrifying sounds like the end of the world.

The gale seemed capable of tearing the mountain rocks apart, and the torrential rain pounded against the stone walls with deafening bangs, interspersed with the terrifying roar of waves crashing against the reefs.

Each loud clap of thunder made the cub in her arms tremble with fear.

Through the gap, she could see the tall but slightly blurry backs of her beastmen. They were completely exposed to the wind and rain, with rainwater cascading down their soaked hair and robes like waterfalls. The strong wind almost knocked them over, but they stood firm as if nailed to the ground, not retreating an inch, using their bodies to build the last line of defense for them.

Her heart felt as if it were being tightly gripped by an invisible hand, a mixture of sourness and pain.

In her view, their momentary peace was the result of her males enduring it with their own flesh and blood!

My inner worries and heartache surged like the ocean waves outside.

I don't know how much time passed, but the people around me gradually fell asleep.

Bai Wanwan could no longer contain herself. She carefully stood up, took out a waterproof cloak from the system and wrapped it tightly around herself. She tiptoed past the sleeping people and made her way to the cave entrance with difficulty.

As soon as she approached the cave entrance, a gust of wind mixed with the fishy smell of seawater and icy rain lashed at her, causing her to stumble and almost lose her balance.

The situation outside was a hundred times worse than she had imagined!
The world was pitch black, with only the occasional flash of lightning illuminating the surging waves outside. "The wind and rain are calmer over here, come over here!" she shouted with all her might, but her voice was almost completely swallowed up by the roar of the wind and rain, sounding so weak.

But Jin Yi, who was closest to her, still managed to catch her voice.

He turned around abruptly and saw that slender figure in the wind and rain. His heart tightened, and he immediately strode over, opening his arms without hesitation to shield her from most of the wind and rain with his broad back.

"The wind is so strong and the rain is so heavy outside, why did you come out? Go back quickly!" His voice was anxious and worried, and rainwater kept streaming down his angular face.

"I'm worried about you..." Bai Wanwan's icy fingers gripped his soaked clothes tightly as she looked up at him, rain streaming down her cheeks.

At this moment, the other males also noticed the commotion and quickly surrounded her, forming an impenetrable human wall around her.

"Don't stand too far away, just stay right here at the cave entrance, at least... at least it will provide some shelter from the wind and rain..."

Her gaze swept over the men's soaked bodies. She had considered taking out a tent, but in this level of storm, an ordinary tent would be torn to shreds in an instant, making it completely useless.

The cloak was useless; she had only been standing there for a short while, and the cold wind and heavy rain had already seeped in through her neck.

"Okay, we'll stay right at the cave entrance, listening to the sounds and blocking the wind. You should go in quickly, or you'll catch a cold."

Xin Feng gently comforted her, reaching out to wipe the water from her face. The water was icy cold to his touch, which made his heart ache.

Seeing the deep worry and heartache in the female's eyes, Zhu Xiu's cold heart felt as if it had been cradled by a pair of hands.

“This little bit of wind and rain is nothing to us males. Don’t worry about us.” His words were calm and powerful, carrying a reassuring magic.

Yan Lie grinned, even though his face was pale from the cold: "That's right! What's a little storm like this? Wanwan, you should go back and rest, don't worry about us."

The other beastmen nodded in agreement, their eyes firm yet gentle, signaling her to quickly return to a dry and safe place.

Seeing that she didn't move, Yan Lie simply put his arm around her shoulder, which was covered by a cloak, and led her into the cave.

"It will be better tomorrow, don't worry about us, get a good night's sleep."

After Yan Lie brought her in, he didn't stay long and went out again, still damp from the water.

Bai Wanwan had no choice but to take off her cloak and lie back down next to Yin Ze.

The male next to her immediately opened his arms and tightly embraced her cold, trembling body in his warm embrace.

"Did the noise outside wake you up?" Yin Ze asked in a low voice, gently rubbing his chin against the top of her head, trying to warm her with his body heat.

Bai Wanwan shook her head in his warm and reliable embrace, wrapped her arms around his lean waist, and buried her face in his chest. "No... I feel uneasy and sad knowing they're working so hard out there..."

Yin Ze couldn't help but lower his head and kiss her cold cheek tenderly. "It'll be alright."

He offered soft words of comfort, his gaze towards the female growing ever more profound in the darkness.

This little bit of wind and rain is certainly not a fatal test for the males, but because of this "small thing", they are so deeply remembered and cared for by their beloved females.
