Chapter 447 Holding her in his arms

On the third day, the rain finally subsided significantly, turning from fine drizzle into scattered raindrops.

The gray of the sky seemed to have faded a bit, revealing a faint, pale light.

Just like the previous two days, Bai Wanwan waited at the door early, wrapped in thick animal hides, her gaze stubbornly fixed on the distance.

She had been standing for so long that her legs were starting to go numb.

suddenly!

Deep in the rain, at the edge of the forest blurred by moisture, several indistinct dark figures appeared.

They moved slowly and unsteadily, one of them being tall and upright with a steady gait.

Even through the rain and fog and from a distance, Bai Wanwan recognized him at a glance.

It's Kyoin!
A radiant smile suddenly bloomed on her pale face, sweeping away the gloom of the past few days. She instinctively wanted to rush out to greet him.

"Jiaoyin!"

She stumbled a few steps forward, but the tall figure rushed over faster than her, covered in mud, blood, and the putrid smell unique to the swamp, and was in front of her in an instant.

"Don't come out! The ground is covered in mud and water!" Jiaoyin's voice was hoarse, filled with exhaustion and urgency from the long journey.

He reached out his muddy hands, not to embrace her, but with a protective gesture, and steadily supported her shoulders, gently pushing her back to the dry doorway of the stone house.

His movements appeared to be a push, but he controlled the force extremely gently, as if afraid of hurting her.

Only then did Bai Wanwan get a clear look at him.

Jiaoyin was soaked to the bone, her silk gauze covered in mud and dried blood. There were several fresh, deep claw marks on her bare arms and calves, which, although simply bandaged with rough grass leaves, still oozed blood.

His face was pale, his lips were cracked, but his bright blue eyes shone with an astonishing light, filled with joy.

With his other hand, he tightly gripped a similarly mud-covered animal skin bag, from which a few leaves shimmering with a faint silver light could be seen peeking out.

Almost instinctively, he raised the relatively cleaner back of his hand and carefully reached towards Bai Wanwan's forehead.

Her fingertips were icy cold, carrying the dampness of the swamp and the smell of earth, yet they made Bai Wanwan feel incredibly safe and warm.

"The fever... has subsided?" His voice was hoarse, as if he had breathed a sigh of relief.

Hearing the sound, Hua Han quickly came out of the house. Seeing that Jiao Yin was in a sorry state but had finally returned alive, she smiled and said, "She withdrew early the next morning! But these past few days, Wanwan has been worried about you. She's been stuck at the door like a stone pillar, and no matter how much I try to persuade her, she won't come inside to rest properly. I'm really afraid that if she gets a cold wind, her already healthy body won't be able to withstand it again!"

Hua Han's tone was reproachful, but even more so, it was full of heartache.

Upon hearing this, Jiaoyin felt a warm current flow through her limbs and bones.

His gaze towards Bai Wanwan softened considerably, filled with deep emotions, and his voice became even gentler, "You've just recovered, you can't keep pushing yourself like this."

“I know my situation, it’s okay,” she smiled at him.

When she is lucid, she can control the system and is not afraid of getting sick again.

Hua Han watched as Bai Wanwan looked at Jiao Yin with undisguised intimacy, dependence, and the joy of regaining what she had lost. A slight pang of sadness welled up in his heart, but he quickly suppressed the emotion.

Jiaoyin was his ally, and he risked his life to save Wanwan.

He glanced at the two silently, wisely refraining from disturbing them, then turned and quietly retreated back into the house to look after the cubs who were getting agitated by the noise, leaving the small space by the door for them.

Jiaoyin carefully escorted Bai Wanwan into the warm stone house.

“I could have found the silverleaf grass last night,” he said in a low, weary voice, “but I ran into some trouble on the way back. I found several foreign orcs trapped in the swamp at the edge of the swamp.”

Bai Wanwan tilted her head to look, and only then did she notice that a few steps behind Jiao Yin, there were three male orcs who were also covered in mud and looked disheveled.

They had clearly endured considerable hardship; they were wounded, their breathing unsteady, and their gazes toward Jiaoyin were filled with gratitude and awe.

Seeing Bai Wanwan's gaze sweep over them, the three male orcs immediately helped each other up and quickly stepped forward.

The orc at the head of the group, a burly man with a hideous scar on his face, immediately bowed deeply to Bai Wanwan, his attitude one of utmost respect.

"Noble female! Thank you for the guidance of the Beast God! Thanks to your beast husband for saving us, otherwise the three of us brothers would have perished in that man-eating swamp today!" He said excitedly, his voice filled with sincere gratitude.

The other two quickly followed suit, bowing and saying in unison, "Thank you for saving our lives, beast husband!"

As he spoke, the scarred orc rummaged through his soaked animal skin bundle and pulled out a piece of something carefully wrapped in oilcloth, emitting a faint, strange fragrance. He held it up with both hands and respectfully offered it to Bai Wanwan: "This is just a small token of our appreciation. Please accept it, madam!"

Having just witnessed the female's concern for the male, they immediately regarded Bai Wanwan as Jiaoyin's "wife".

When Jiaoyin heard the term "your beast husband," her ears instantly turned bright red, the color spreading all the way down to her neck.

His heart pounded like a drum, and a secret joy entwined around him like vines.

He glanced at Bai Wanwan subconsciously and saw that she seemed a little stunned by the sudden address and did not immediately refute or clarify.

Jiaoyin's heart skipped a beat, and a sense of satisfaction she had never felt before filled her heart.

He even forgot his own injuries, only feeling a burning sensation in his chest.

However, at this delicate moment, tinged with a hint of romance, the gratitude and respect on the face of the scarred orc leader suddenly froze the instant he handed over the gift and took a closer look at Bai Juan's face!
His pupils contracted sharply, as if he had seen something utterly unbelievable, even terrifying!

The hand holding the gift trembled almost imperceptibly.

The two companions behind him also subconsciously raised their heads the moment the scarred orc lost his composure, their gazes falling on Bai Wanwan's face.

In an instant, the same shock and disbelief spread across their faces like a plague!
The three of them quickly exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with shock, astonishment, and a hint of... a complex emotion that Bai Wanwan couldn't understand, almost fear!

Jiaoyin, who was standing to the side, was still immersed in the secret joy of being "misunderstood as a beast husband" until now when she keenly noticed the sudden change in atmosphere.

He followed the three orcs' surprised and uncertain gazes back to Bai Wanwan's face.

Then he looked at the three males whose faces had suddenly changed as if they had seen a ghost, and a hint of vigilance flashed in his azure eyes.

He instinctively pulled Bai Wanwan into his arms and looked at them, "What's wrong?"
