Chapter 89 Snake

"Sir, it should be in this direction!"

Luc walked among the crowd, watching the horse thief George look down at the footprints on the ground from time to time, or look up at the forest, and then give his own judgment on the location of the wild boar.

Little Charlie would bark in front of him as he smelled the scent, and he would follow closely behind. There were even a few times when he discovered the trail earlier than little Charlie, which made Luc look at him with some admiration.

With him and little Charlie walking for a whole morning, they finally saw a group of seven or eight wild boars in the distance through the as-high weeds on the other side of the high mountain in the east.

Luc stared at the wild boar opposite, his pupils shrank slightly. Sure enough, there was a male wild boar!

Since it was a skirmish, Luc would definitely not set a trap. He gestured to Old Eck and Ryan, and the two men who were considered to have the highest military qualifications under his command each took Jill and Hans and surrounded them from both sides.

Luc and George squatted there, patting little Charlie's head and signaling it not to be impulsive.

Throughout this period, Charlie's role in hunting has always been that of a scout, not the main force.

Little Charlie can be useful against ordinary hares, but facing ferocious animals like bears or pigs, a single hound will only die. Unless a large number of hounds are formed, these hounds will spontaneously develop hunting tactics and cooperate with hunters to kill wild boars.

Ryan and Old Ek arrived at their respective positions, and the three groups squatted in the weeds in a horn-like formation, vaguely surrounding the herd of wild boars.

There were two adult wild boars in the herd, but both were much smaller than the previous wild boars.

With the javelin, Luc's hunting method was very simple. He would slowly gather his strength, then rush forward, using a large number of javelins to impale the adult wild boars into hedgehogs, and he would only take the living piglets.

The six gradually shrank, and finally, not far behind, as Luc whistled, the six people suddenly jumped up, and javelins and arrows were poured into the boar one after another in an instant. The wild boar with huge tusks was shot to death before it could show its power, especially Hans. The javelin was even more lethal in his hands with his big shoulders and waist. Compared with the skills of others, he was purely strong.

squeak-

Sharp squeals echoed among the piglets, and the herd fled in all directions like a flock of frightened rabbits. As for the sow, she rushed towards the men like crazy. However, facing three groups of intruders standing in different positions, the sow didn't know which group to hit.
Luke drew his bow and shot an arrow, first attracting hatred. Seeing the sow running over, Ryan raised his javelin and shot another shot on the right. Then the sow turned its head and hit Ryan and others again. Old Ek followed closely behind. The sow was eventually stabbed to death on the road by six people. Until her death, the sow did not hit anyone.
Then Luke waved his hand, and little Charlie, who couldn't wait any longer, jumped out like a fly. Although he couldn't deal with an adult wild boar, it was easy to bully the little piglets. After a while, he drove the scattered piglets together. Several people took ropes and it took a while to tie up all five piglets.

Ryan kicked the two wild boars, which weighed three or four hundred pounds in total, and said, "Master, how are we going to transport these two pigs back?"

There is a hill between us and Shanlin Manor, so it may not be possible to pull it back by donkey cart or mule.

Luc thought for a moment and said, "You and Jill go back and pull all the rafts over. We'll use water transport."

Since the raft can carry a bear, carrying two pigs is not a problem.

Looking down at the piglets whose cries were harsh and shrill, Luc couldn't stand their noise anymore, so he asked Old Eck to tie them to a tree trunk. He and the others hid in the shade of the tree to cool off, waiting for Ryan to come back. Pigs' feed was different from that of horses, donkeys, and pheasants.

Pigs have a very diverse diet. There is a saying that whatever pigs can eat, humans can generally eat too. But because of this, pigs cannot be fed by just eating grass and insects.

So Luc planned to use the freshly picked acorns as pig feed. Fortunately, the piglets were not too big yet, so it was enough for the time being. He would wait until they grew up a little before deciding on the next step.

Moreover, Luc would not raise all five pigs. He just took a look and found that there were both male and female pigs among them. Luc planned to keep one male pig and slaughter the others together with the two newly caught rams for meat in winter.

Luc was thinking about how to raise pigs, while George beside him was leaning against a tree trunk, leisurely enjoying his rare rest time. After being caught alive as a horse trader, George thought he would be killed or sold to slave traders to mine for the rest of his life, but he actually was spared, which made him very happy. It was not until he found out that he was going to the mountains to open up wasteland with the knight in front of him that he felt a little regretful. After all, how could hard work compare to the comfort of drinking beer and sleeping with women after trading horses?
George closed his eyes and felt the comfortable mountain breeze. Suddenly, he felt a pain in his calf. He looked down subconsciously and saw that a green snake had bitten his calf!
"Hell!!"

George screamed in pain and quickly picked up a stone from the ground and smashed it at the snake's head. Hearing the scream, Luc quickly turned around and saw this scene. He quickly pulled out his dagger and used it as a flying knife to nail the green snake in the vital spot.

"Damn it, everybody get out of here, there's a snake in the grass!"

Several people hurriedly got up and walked with the grinning George all the way to the river before stopping. Luc turned his head and saw a row of neat snake holes on George's calf, with black blood flowing out.

"Master, that green snake is poisonous!"

Seeing this scene, Old Ek's face became solemn. Ordinary snake bites do not bleed black blood, so this is obviously a poisonous snake.

"I noticed that too! Quick, everyone, take off your clothes and tie up the wound on George's calf tightly to prevent the venom from spreading!"

Although it was a venomous snake, its venom wasn't so strong it would kill instantly. Several men tied George's calf, and the strong Hans tightened the bandage, causing the venom to rapidly flow out of the wound. To encourage the black blood to flow more, Luc also cut a cross in George's wound. He had George put his leg in the river to clean the wound. Luc, alone, struck the grass with his javelin. Seeing no other signs of trouble, he dug up some grass roots and, without anyone's knowledge, prepared a recipe. The green snake blended in with the grass, unaware that they hadn't noticed. George, who had traveled extensively, was bitten because he had let his guard down.

Luc was holding some herbs and preparing to apply them to George's wound under the pretext of the monastery, when Old Eck suddenly came up and said:
"Master, I know an ancient method!"

He pulled out a spider from somewhere and said seriously, "Master, put the spider on the wound. It will suck out the venom!"

Luc sighed and shook his head without comment. This move was comparable to bloodletting.

It seemed feasible, but the spider lying on the wound would not only suck blood, but also pass its own venom to George. By the time the snake venom hadn't healed, and the spider venom had added to it, it would be even more difficult to deal with.
He waved his hand to let old Eck leave, and applied the herbs on George, telling him that this was the secret recipe given to him by the monastery. Seeing the black blood slowly flowing out and turning bright red, George finally accepted Luc's herbal treatment.

But even so, when Ryan and Jill paddled the raft back, George's calf was swollen.
