Chapter 49 Night Attack
At night, in the quiet forest, Henry rode his horse slowly forward alone.

He knew that he could not stay under the enemy's nose and had to go deep into the forest to find a safe place to rest.

The sound of horse hooves was particularly clear in the silent night. Henry did not stop until he reached the depths of the forest.

He tied his faithful warhorse to a stout tree trunk and busied himself with making a fire. He gathered a pile of leaves and straw, made a simple bed, and then slept in his clothes, hugging his sharp steel sword.

As he lay down, Henry's mind was still turning.

He was not worried that Luc would attack at night. First of all, he felt that Luc did not have the courage to venture deep into the forest to find him. Secondly, the forest was so vast, how could the other party easily know where he was?

Furthermore, Henry had a secret plan - in the second half of the night, he would turn back early and launch a surprise attack on Luke under the cover of darkness!
Now he was in the dark and Luc was in the light, and the timing of the attack was completely in his own hands.

Instead of waiting for Luke to recover, it is better to take the initiative and use the cover of night to kill the opponent by surprise.

So Henry felt that if Luc wanted to launch a surprise attack, he could only do it in the first half of the night. However, in such a short time in the first half of the night, it was almost impossible to meet many conditions such as finding him, mustering up courage, and breaking through the forest obstacles.

However, without the usual guards, Henry carefully laid out numerous traps around the area for safety reasons. There were spikes hidden under fallen leaves, and ropes hanging from tree branches. These were all "surprises" he prepared for any enemies that might come.
The moon is bright and the stars are sparse, and this night is destined to be a sleepless night.

While Henry was recuperating in the forest, Luc and Ryan were already getting ready.

Luc wore heavy chain mail, the outer layer of which was carefully coated with charcoal to prevent it from reflecting the moonlight.

Ryan, holding the heavy axe, looked at Luc with worry:

"Master, are we taking a little too much risk? What if Henry is trying to seduce us?"

Ryan's voice sounded muffled in the silence.

Luc continued to apply the charcoal as he replied, "Lure? To be honest, I'm not sure it was a lure, but I'm sure that Henry was able to dodge my arrow that afternoon entirely because of his agility, not the speed of his horse. Seeing how cautious he was, not wanting to ride too hard, I knew there was definitely something wrong with his horse."

Luke's eyes revealed a hint of ruthlessness, "If there really is an ambush tonight, Henry can only fight on foot, so this is our only chance!"

At this moment, the moonlight was suddenly covered by a dark cloud, and the smell of dampness in the air became stronger and stronger, as if a heavy rain would come soon.

Luke turned to look at Ryan and said solemnly, "Ryan, you should understand that our fence can protect against wolves, but it can never protect against people. If he comes in on horseback, we will really be sitting there waiting to be killed!"

Luke's eyes became more fierce, "So, we must give it a try!"

Luc blew a whistle, and little Charlie quickly rushed out of the house. Luc squatted down and gently stroked Charlie's black fur. "Old friend, this time our success depends entirely on you."

It turned out that as early as when Henry arrived, Luc locked little Charlie in the house and strictly forbade him to bark loudly. Although he could not stop little Charlie's tiny barking, Henry was too far away to notice it, so Henry had no idea that Luc would have such a loyal hound.

Little Charlie was already familiar with every corner of the surrounding forest.

And this is Luc's trump card!

……

About an hour later.

Somewhere in the forest, little Charlie stopped and kept baring his teeth in a certain direction.

Luc quickly pressed it down, and he and Ryan quickly crouched down, carefully parted the bushes, and through the thick leaves, at a distance of about twenty yards, they saw Henry lying in front of a burning campfire, snoring.

His warhorse was tied about three yards to the side and was also resting with his eyes closed.
"Found it!" Ryan's eyes lit up and he was about to step forward, but suddenly he felt his sleeves tighten. He lowered his head and saw Luke holding him tightly.

"Don't be impulsive, there's a trap." "Trap?"

Ryan's pupils dilated and he quickly shrank back. He did not forget that Luke was also a trap expert.

Luc, who had eagle eyes, looked around and suddenly laughed out loud. This Henry was still a little naive when it came to setting traps.

"Go around and enter from the southwest. Remember what I told you before. Once you enter, don't worry about anything else. Go straight to the warhorse. If possible, it's best to capture it. I'll take care of Henry!"

"Okay sir!"

After half a year of getting along, Ryan and Luc had formed an inexplicable tacit understanding. Almost at the same time, they entered Henry's "territory" from two different directions.

Ryan bent over and approached the horse, weaving through the tree trunks, taking every step with extreme caution for fear of startling the horse. His eyes were fixed on the horse, as if looking for the best moment to attack.

Meanwhile, Luc carefully advanced towards Henry, over the spikes and ropes, his movements light and agile, like a cheetah in the forest.

Luc's breathing became weak. He knew that any negligence at this time might lead to the failure of the plan.

Twenty yards, fifteen yards, ten yards...

Suddenly, just as Luc was about to speed up and take Henry's life, a loud bang suddenly exploded in the sky!
A flash of lightning streaked across the night sky, followed by a loud thunder!

The overwhelming rain poured down in an instant.

Rumble, rumble!

Henry suddenly woke up in the huge thunder!

"Do it!" Luc roared upon seeing this, and suddenly he jumped up, holding a dagger and pouncing at Henry who had just woken up like a hungry wolf!
Ryan also ran immediately, and chopped the tree trunk with an axe. The horse rope that was entangled and bound fell off instantly. The horse was also frightened by the sudden change and raised its front hooves and neighed!

"Damn it!!!" As soon as Henry opened his eyes, he saw Luke rushing towards him like a devil, and his scalp suddenly felt numb.

This knight, who had also experienced several life-and-death battles, ignored his embarrassment and quickly rolled to the side. The dagger just grazed his head and was deeply embedded in the mud.

Henry quickly got up, but had no intention of fighting. Instead, he turned around and ran towards his horse.

He didn't expect that Luke would actually come over in the first half of the night, but he understood that it would be better to avoid fighting on foot if possible. As long as he got on the horse, it would be easy to kill this bastard!
“Ryan!!”

Luke's face was filled with murderous intent. He chased after the horse relentlessly while shouting to Ryan: "Don't worry about the horse, kill it!!"

"You dare?!" Henry's face was filled with shock and anger. He quickened his pace, rushed to Ryan's side in a few steps, swung the fine steel sword in his hand, and chopped it fiercely at Ryan's neck!

Ryan was pulling the horse reins hard at this time. Seeing Henry coming, he hurriedly retreated. In a panic, he hastily raised the axe. The sword and axe collided, and Ryan's arm was numb from the shock of two hands against one hand.

Before Henry could continue his attack, Luc arrived and swung a sword at his waist, but Henry dodged it by twisting his body. Luc took the opportunity to backhand and slash the horse's butt with his dagger. The intense pain and the thunder and lightning suddenly made the docile horse react. It spread its four hooves and dragged Ryan with it, rushing towards the edge of the forest regardless of anything...

"Waldeger, come back soon!" Henry hurriedly called the name of his warhorse, but the sound of the increasingly heavy rain drowned out his call.

Seeing the warhorse going farther and farther away until it disappeared into the darkness, Henry turned his head and let the rain pour down on his frosty face. He gritted his teeth at Luc and said almost word by word, "You vile thing! I'll kill you!"

Luke's face was also fierce, and he struck his shield with his dagger and said, "Unfortunately, I happened to have the same idea!"
