Chapter 39 Goat
Whether a mountain is barren or not can be determined by looking at its abundant resources.

The shiny black little Charlie lowered his head, sniffing the feces with his nose, pointing his butt at the faces of the two people behind him, and his tail wagging constantly.

The two people behind him, one carrying a sword and a bow, and the other carrying a shovel and a rope, did not mind little Charlie's "rudeness". Instead, they were looking forward to the hound making full use of its advantages to find the goat habitat.

Winter passed by in a flash, and the mountains began to turn green in March. Luc walked on the soft grass and headed towards a higher mountain.

"I've never been this far into the woods."

Luc looked around. This mountain was different from the one around the cabin. There were fewer trees and more grass.

"Really? Master, you've never been here either?"

This ownerless forest is very large, and precisely because of its size, it is so primitive.

Ryan thought that Luke had already figured out the valley, and was a little surprised.

Luc glanced at Ryan and said, "Of course. The mountains and forests are very dangerous. If it weren't for you and little Charlie, and my improved archery skills, I would never have walked so far. Of course, the road to Ward Village is different. The road there is wider."

After hearing this, Ryan seemed to be thinking about something and said nothing more.

Seeing this, Luke was a little amused: "Why, are you scared?"

"How can it be!"

Ryan sighed. "After all, I'm a refugee from Provence to Burgundy, and I encountered many dangers along the way."

"I just remembered something else."

"Oh? What's the matter? Let's talk about it."

Little Charlie quickened his pace, apparently smelling the goat's nest. Luc quickly caught up with him, asking Ryan questions.

"Huh~ Actually, it's nothing." Ryan hesitated and said, "Master, have you ever thought that this valley will be discovered one day?"

Ryan's words were like a needle that stopped Luc, but Ryan did not stop:

"Master, please forgive my rudeness. If someone else lived in this valley, I don't think the chances of being discovered would be high, but you are the one living here. I'm not saying you're a bad person, it's just that you're so outstanding in many ways, so I feel like you'll be discovered sooner or later."

Ryan's expression was serious. "Just like today, even though we've never been here before, we're here because of the goats. Our footprints will expand, and we might even come into contact with some lords one day."

Speaking of the lords, Ryan's face showed some disgust: "Those greedy guys will not be kind to others. Do you know, sir, the people who robbed me the most on the way to escape famine were not bandits and refugees, but lords from all over the place!"

Ryan's face was clearly filled with resentment and sadness as he recalled those days, but it quickly turned into worry. "Master, I've said a lot today, but this is indeed what I'm most worried about."

Ryan's words were swallowed by Qingshan.

Luc remained silent since he started speaking, and waited for Ryan to finish speaking before slowly exhaling a breath.

Looking at Ryan's still relatively young face, Luc understood that Ryan really regarded the valley as his home.

In fact, how could Luc not have thought about these issues?

He is not Robinson Crusoe, who is located on an isolated island overseas. Although he is deep in the mountains, he is not completely isolated from society.

This is also what Luc subconsciously worries about most.

That's why he went out to look for settlements on the seventh day after arriving in the valley, worried that there might be a greedy and powerful lord nearby.

"Ryan, do you believe me?"

Luke suddenly spoke, and Ryan looked up in confusion. Although he didn't know why he suddenly asked this, he still answered after thinking about what Luke had done in the past few months:

"Of course!" "Well, since you trust me, then do as I say."

Luke's eyes were deep. "Don't think about anything else for now. Let's build our home first. I can assure you that nothing will be discovered for a long time. As for the future, I have a plan in mind."

Ryan nodded. Although he was worried, he had no good solution, so he put his hopes on Luke, who believed he had a longer-term vision than him, to come up with a solution.

Seeing that Luc was unwilling to reveal it in advance, he didn't think about it anymore.

"Wang Wang Wang! Wang Wang Wang!"

At this moment, Little Charlie suddenly stood up and kept yelling towards the front. Luc quickly said, "Quiet, Little Charlie!"

Seeing that little Charlie stopped barking, Luc and Ryan, who had reacted quickly, slowly squatted down in a bush, pushed aside the branches, and in the gaps between the leaves, on the slope of the distant mountain top, a group of about ten goats were lazily lying on the grass!
"found it!"

……

The goats were scattered on the hillside. A gray goat that seemed to be the leader would raise its head and look around every time it ate grass, as if observing the situation.

"Master, do you want to dig a trap?"

Ryan closed the bushes and lowered his voice.

"No, we won't dig this time. We can't dig it out in a short time. This place is far away from the cabin. It's impossible to go back and forth just because of a trap."

Luc rejected the trapping proposal and said, "We're going to hunt directly this time!"

Luc pointed in the direction of the sheep:

"Except for this guy, the goat herd consists entirely of ewes and their young. As long as we get rid of him, the flock will scatter. Also, look at that ewe to the south; it's clearly just given birth. We can kill the lead goat, but try to capture the ewe and her young alive. If you want to tame goats, it's best to start with the young!"

Seeing Ryan nodding frequently, Luke waved his hand and little Charlie went into the bushes.

Touching little Charlie's back, Luc told him all his plans.

First, Luc will let little Charlie attack. As a lone dog, the goats will not be too scared, especially the head goat, which will most likely drive away little Charlie.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, let Ryan, who had taken a long detour to the other side to ambush, appear from the back and chase the cub and the ewe. The cub cannot run fast and is easy to catch. The ewe will, out of nature, confront the unarmed Ryan to protect her child.

At this time, Luc would quickly appear from the bushes, kill the ram first, and then capture the ewe.

As for the remaining sheep, Luc was not greedy. He thought it would be best if he could catch a few more, but if he couldn't, it would be fine.

After explaining the plan, Ryan prepared to go around to the other side of the mountain. Before leaving, he glanced at the hillside and his eyes suddenly lit up.

"Master, look!"

"Those goats don't eat grass, they eat turnips!"

turnip?

Luc squinted his eyes. He had never heard of parsnips, but he knew turnips, which were something Luc used to eat often.

At the edge of a meadow, several goats used their hooves to scrape off a slightly long emerald green leaf. Several leaves gathered together and inserted them on the same round, brightly colored fruit. The goats nibbled on the fruit, and even from a long distance, one could smell the fragrance.

Luc knew that it was a turnip. When it was fully mature, it would turn red and yellow, very similar to a white radish.

"As expected, animals are better at finding food than humans. Perfect! I'll take both the sheep and the turnips away!"
