A farming master in Stardew Valley
Chapter 3 Pelican Town
Chapter 3 Pelican Town
As the sickle swept across, patches of weeds were cleared away, leaving behind fibers, hay and mixed seeds. Although Lyon's face was covered with sweat after collecting all of these, the smile of harvest never disappeared from his face.
The spring climate was not too hot, and the cool breeze made Lyon feel an unprecedented sense of comfort. As he swung the sickle to cut the weeds, Lyon could sense a mysterious power quietly flowing into his body.
Only when Leon's arms, which had been wielding the sickle, began to swell and become numb did he reluctantly stop harvesting. Looking at the farmland, which was now much cleaner and fresher than when he first arrived, and the land that was completely exposed to the sun, a sense of pride arose spontaneously.
Standing on the steps of the cabin, looking at the farm environment which was completely different from when he first arrived, Leon was really happy. Although it was only a small step, it was at least much easier than he expected.
Now that the weeds are gone and the land is exposed, you can dig the soil and start planting.
Thanks to the sickle provided by the system, the weeding effect is excellent, and the roots are directly removed, unlike the ordinary sickle that can only clean the stems exposed on the ground. It is impossible to completely remove the roots without actively turning the soil.
Weeding has always been an important issue in farming. After all, in order to grow, weeds will absorb nutrients and water from the soil and compete with crops. If the weeds on a piece of land are not cleared, the growth efficiency of the crops planted and the final harvest after maturity will definitely be greatly reduced.
Now that there are no weeds to disturb him, Lyon can hoe the land with peace of mind and prepare to start planting the mixed seeds he had collected earlier.
But before that, Lyon needed to take a break. After all, clearing the weeds in most areas of the farm was not an easy task. Even though the sickle provided by the system was very useful, the physical effort was still substantial, not to mention the large area of the farm.
Sitting on the steps in front of the wooden house, Leon wiped the sweat from his head with his sleeve, breathing heavily, and just looked quietly at the farm that still had a somewhat wild atmosphere, with countless thoughts and plans in his mind.
But before Leon could think for long, his stomach started to growl.
"hungry."
Touching his belly, Leon felt the emptiness and hunger in his stomach. He had been indulging in the joy of weeding, but now he stopped and his body honestly reflected his needs.
But after looking around his farm, Leon found sadly that he couldn't seem to find anything to eat for the time being. Although there was water and electricity in the wooden house, there was no kitchen refrigerator, so there was no food reserve.
Reality is not a game where players can play for 20 hours without eating or drinking, then fall asleep for four hours and wake up full of energy the next day.
Since there was nothing to eat on the farm, Lyon didn't plan to just sit here and wait to starve to death.
So he decisively took his savings, left the farm, and walked east along the dirt road he had taken when he came.
Pelican Town, a town located not far east of the farm, is governed by Mayor Lewis and is the only town within Stardew Valley. It is a core area for players to socialize, attend festivals, and purchase items. Unlike the game, where it's just a short walk from the farm, the journey to Pelican Town took Lu Lyon twenty minutes, finally traversing a path paved with cut rock.
Even though he hadn't officially entered Pelican Town yet, Lyon could already see the general appearance of Pelican Town. It was a very traditional European town, and most of the buildings were two-story buildings made of bricks, stones and wooden boards.
Occasionally, some green can be seen on the sloping roofs, the mottled walls are covered by ivy, and the trees growing everywhere are not modified in any way, integrating the building with nature. At just one glance, one can find that unlike the impact of civilization brought by the steel jungle, this town gets along well with nature.
After walking a short distance along the cobblestone road and passing the 'Welcome to Pelican Town' sign, the first thing Lyon saw was an empty square. The square was very large, and apart from the cobblestone road and street lights placed around the square, there were basically no modern buildings to be seen.
But this does not prevent it from becoming a place where people gather to chat and rest. Unlike the dozens of NPCs with names in the game, Leon saw many unfamiliar faces in this spacious square.
Some of these people were wearing miners' uniforms, some were wearing uniform blue work clothes, and some were wearing casual shirt dresses for home. They gathered in groups of three or four, and in between were some adults with children who were watching the children having fun in the square and venting their exuberant energy, while they were happily chatting with acquaintances who were also parents.
Most people had smiles on their faces, and only then did Leon notice that it was almost dusk.
"Oh, stranger? Are you a tourist?" Just as Leon looked up at the sky, a brown-haired lady with a hairstyle that looked very dangerous in Japanese dramas happened to pass by and saw Leon's unfamiliar face, and asked curiously.
"No, I'm a new farmer. The Red Star Farm not far from here is now under my management." Lyon responded with a smile.
"Oh, you are the farmer that the mayor said would be coming in the next two days. Hello, my name is Jody, and I am a resident of Pelican Town. Nice to meet you." Jody looked at Leon in surprise and introduced himself.
"My name is Leon." Leon naturally responded politely, and at the same time looked at Jody curiously a few more times. This was a resident of Pelican Town whom he was very "familiar" with.
"Lyon, that's a nice name. Welcome to Pelican Town. We'll be neighbors from now on. I look forward to your farm bringing some surprises to the local market." Jody said to Leon with a smile.
"By the way, this is your first time in town, right? I don't have anything to do here, so would you like me to show you around Pelican Town? It's quite a big town after all."
"I'm happy to do so, but doesn't Mrs. Jodi need to prepare dinner for the children?" Although he was familiar with Pelican Town, Leon was still a little confused when facing the real Pelican Town. He was naturally very welcome to have someone help as a tour guide, but considering that the other party had two children to take care of, Leon did not force it.
"Are you really getting older? Even though this was our first meeting, you could tell at a glance that I was a housewife." Jodi's expression was a little lost, but Leon found that she was not actually acting like that. The smile on the corner of her mouth seemed more like she was joking with Leon.
"But the kids all have their own things to do today, so I'm kind of free now. Do you really not want me to take you on a tour of Pelican Town?"
