Chapter 370 New Force Field Techniques
Chapter 370 New Force Field Techniques
Academic exchange.
The last academic exchange between Wu Chen and Hera nearly shattered the entire continent of North Westeros. After all, wizards are always both theorists and pragmatists. For them to exchange ideas, they inevitably had to bring out all their tangible achievements and meet in a sufficiently spacious area.
This is not an isolated case.
Even in Mondas, and even within the School of Magic at Winterhold, academic exchanges between wizards generally followed this pattern. However, high-ranking wizards rarely exerted their full strength in these exchanges. As for the archmages, their every action typically had a significant impact on the course of history across the entire continent.
Wu Chen is not yet a Grand Mage—he could be, but he isn't. He has stopped himself at this stage of fulfilling his legendary destiny. He continues to practice, but hasn't yet locked onto a path where every move is irreversible.
He was like that, and so was Hera. After all, even legendary destinies have varying degrees of power, and since there was a choice, there was no need to rush. And naturally, their true strength already far surpassed that of ordinary high-level wizards.
He then saw Hera raise her eyebrows, her eyes filled with eager anticipation. Clearly, she was quite interested in interdimensional magical battles, especially since Wu Chen was actually located in a different universe beyond the reach of even the most powerful local spellcasters!
The spell's effect is then generated.
The magical satellite receivers that Hera had built were instantly upgraded into ballistic missile silos powered by supernatural forces. And the next moment, what was projected from the border where she was located was no longer a message to be viewed, but a storm of power!
'Boom—' The power was released.
In an instant, hundreds of millions of cubic meters of water evaporated from the tranquil ocean in the uncivilized zone. A pale blue radiant star was formed, enveloped by dark purple gravitational waves. It's unknown how many resources and arcane powers Hera poured into this attack. Yet, this radiant meteor, composed of seawater, had already risen against the current, rapidly heading towards the red comet that brought the magical tides!
"A good tactic, directly targeting the main source of magic power in this world? That's a ruthless move."
Wu Chen nodded, giving his answer. He was at a slight disadvantage in this confrontation, since his main body was still in another universe, and there would be some delay if he wanted to mobilize power on a large scale.
But it doesn't matter—the already deployed map magic will serve its purpose. Wu Chen simply raised his hand, and the ocean and sky, which hadn't yet been transformed into a luminous stone structure, responded to him. The ocean transformed into a rising, capturing hand, while in the sky, a massive storm suddenly formed, pressing down on the gravitational ripples of the luminous stone meteor!
The meteor's flight was halted.
The hand that emerged from the ocean depths transformed into frost the instant it captured its target. However, the massive radiant meteorite was not frozen by the icy hand. Instead, in the instant it was bound, its nature changed, transforming from a powerful, azure magical structure into a pure, pale yellow that blocked the flow of magic!
The magic was ineffective.
The frozen giant hand crumbled once more into seawater, and the storm that had suppressed the gravitational waves dissipated. However, the instant the pale yellow insulating pyroxene was born, the gravitational waves that had been supporting it collapsed as well. And the moment its form changed again, evolving from insulating waste rock back into a pyroxene meteor, a blazing bolt of lightning, which had been brewing in the distant sky and waiting patiently, struck down upon the enormous meteor!
"Ka-la--!"
Pyroxene meteor, explodes.
Meanwhile, in Realucalia, at the border, the interdimensional magical information projection array that Hera had hastily created at great expense collapsed instantly due to the backlash. A few shockwaves exploded outwards, threatening to vaporize dozens of Radiant Stone Mages who were helping to maintain the array in an instant. Hera, however, simply raised her hand, transferring all the injuries to her palm, transforming them into a faint, bleeding scar that healed instantly.
"What is this?" She chuckled with interest. "Magic seeping in, harmonizing, assimilating, and guiding... It uses techniques to manipulate the collective unconscious." A slight smile played on her lips.
She sensed a threat.
The next moment, a small crystal crab, tamed in the magic academy, leaped up and pounced towards her face, only to disintegrate and explode mid-flight!
Hera raised a finger.
The crystallized crab was frozen in the direction the finger was pointing.
However, the moment she looked up and examined the crystal crab, several academy mages who had previously submitted to Hera suddenly sprang to their feet, shouting incomprehensible slogans and hurling all sorts of assassination spells in Hera's direction!
“I see.” Hera remained calm. She simply lowered the raised finger, and the rebellious academy mages were immediately suppressed by the massive gravitational field. “It’s not complete domination, but guidance at the level of the collective subconscious… Ah, this magic can only work perfectly when the caster has a sense of authority.”
She easily saw through the true nature of the rebellious mages; they were undoubtedly die-hard loyalists of the old academy, harboring thoughts of rebellion all along. Wu Chen's magic merely accelerated this process, making them feel that now was the perfect time to act, even when they lacked the right timing, location, and popular support.
The principle is thus explained.
But she didn't see any further confrontation—she sensed traces of magic, characteristic of witchcraft, had already seeped into the land she controlled. And she had no intention of eradicating them for the time being.
The academic exchange has now come to an end. Both sides demonstrated the new skills they had learned to each other.
Within the dream, gravity and the purple-blue light waves of the radiant stone appeared in Wu Chen's palm. And in the end, everything was transformed into a pure pale yellow.
“Topus’s Force Field.” Wu Chen knew about this magic, but before today, he only had a basic understanding of it. This was because it was a self-created spell by a low-level wizard from the borderlands, capable of repelling almost all prayers, magic, and even some divine power from external deities. Essentially, it could be considered an artificial creation of the Death Magic Zone and the Disintegration Spell.
And that's exactly what he needs.
“I enjoy academic exchange.” Wu Chen’s lips twitched slightly.
He glanced at the map spell that had already partially revealed Realucalia, shook his head, and returned to the normal point in time in the present world.
The bowl of ramen was still emitting a delicious aroma and releasing its warmth.
