Chapter 357

The chaos in Lissas was quelled by Wu Chen's words.

But Lisas is still noisy tonight.

Even with a near-forced calming psychological suggestion from the group, soldiers still roamed the streets, checking for any unusual activity and patrolling the area. Many concerned citizens also stepped forward to contribute to the stability of Lysas.

All problems were addressed, and all anomalies were resolved.

When the tavern's daughter rushed upstairs in a panic and pushed open the door to Wu Chen's private room, Wu Chen had already silently appeared in his seat in the living room.

"Ah...you're back?"

The girl named Papton Sweetheart's cheeks were flushed from exercise, and her chest heaved. Her gaze swept unconsciously across the room, and naturally, only Wu Chen's face appeared in her eyes.

"Calm down, bartender." Wu Chen raised his hand, silently casting a soothing spell on the individual. The girl's magic resistance seemed higher than it appeared. But the spell still worked.

"Huff...huff...I'm sorry, Mr. Duster. I was just about to tidy up your room...there was a really loud noise, and the sky turned red. A lot of tables and chairs downstairs were knocked over by the vibration. So..."

"I see." Wu Chen nodded. "Thank you for your concern, but everything is fine here. Please go and attend to your other matters, Miss Bartender. Remember to get a good night's sleep after you're done."

“Bartender… that’s a bit too formal.” The girl’s face flushed slightly, but this blush was clearly different from the previous flush from exercise. “Please just call me by my name… if you think it’s too long, just call me Sweetie. After all, you saved my life, and I haven’t really repaid you yet.”

“Your father has already informed me about this guest room…” Wu Chen reached out and touched the armrest of the chair. “I am very satisfied, and I have also received my payment.”

"That's not how I repay you..." the girl muttered softly, then shook her head gently. "Anyway, if you need anything, please call me immediately. Anything... anything at all!"

The blush on her cheeks spread to the tips of her ears, and it seemed as if steam was rising from them. Unable to remain standing comfortably in the guest room any longer, she quickly bowed, retreated, and fled in disarray.

She ran for a few seconds.

He carefully returned and closed the door from the outside, though it wasn't fully closed. His clumsy manner made Wu Chen chuckle.

Having seen so many intelligent and perceptive women, he found fools rather attractive. He twitched his lips and silently exhaled. The slight overload of magic that had formed within his body during his previous battle with Rajsis healed and faded with that steady breath.

"Woooo..."

A slight sound came from the wardrobe.

My gaze shifted, and the wooden cabinet door was open. Three figures, bound like dumplings, were neatly arranged inside. Among them, Leah's eyes blinked, as if she wanted to speak.

“There’s no need to make it like this.” Wu Chen raised his palm. “If you want to talk, just come out and say it. Don’t make it so complicated.”

The girls exchanged glances.

The restraints on Marise fell off silently first, and then she untied Leah as well. Kanami, however, remained bound in a mummy-like position, seemingly wanting to escape but too afraid to move. It was unclear who she was afraid of.

"...Have you fulfilled your promise to Lia?" the blue-haired princess asked, carefully choosing her words.

“I did not accept your request,” Wu Chen replied, resting his chin on his hand as he pondered. “But a powerful mage did attempt to enter Lisas City. I confronted him. I won a small victory, but he wasn’t finished. It won’t be long before he returns.”

"Is this someone you know?"

“I recognize him, but he may not recognize me. He is a mage from the Free City; perhaps you have heard of the name Rajsis?”

A look of surprise appeared in Leah's eyes.

“Ragisis, the guardian of Kastam? That old man… hasn’t shown his face for many years, and has been focusing on cultivating his successor?”

"Clearly, your intelligence is somewhat outdated. His apprentices have become his source of inspiration. He is now a top-tier spellcaster capable of wielding black destructive rays. If you don't have a sufficient anti-magic strategy, I don't think Lisas can stand up to him."

There is indeed a widely used anti-magic measure on this continent: a strange clay golem called 'Hani'. They possess extremely high, even complete, resistance to magical damage. Furthermore, they possess a racial skill called Hani Flash, which can ignore all armor and directly kill even the most heavily protected flesh.

This thing is suspected to be a projection of the development team or the players; it possesses overpowered abilities but won't cause any harm. Furthermore, they are a generally benevolent and communicable race; with proper communication and offering rewards, it's not impossible to get them to fight for Lysas.

However, the princess could only manage a bitter smile.

"A mage capable of unleashing black destructive rays, and his followers? Lisas has no way of enlisting the help of the elusive King Hani... However, Lisas's holy sword and shield also possess the power to defeat powerful invaders. They just need a sufficiently strong warrior to wield them."

Wu Chen did not answer or respond to her words.

The princess then gently gritted her teeth.

“Lord Duster. Could you please allow Maris… no, Kanami, to leave here? Lydia wants to move the Holy Shield and Holy Sword here first… this was the agreed-upon payment. If you ultimately accept Lydia's request, then it would be best to deposit them with you in advance.”

She didn't expect Wu Chen to give a definite answer from the start. They were all Wu Chen's prisoners, and even with the most lenient treatment, they should only be released after a ransom was paid. Naturally, when she spoke, she already had a corresponding bargaining chip in mind.

“Okay.” However, Wu Chen’s quick response interrupted her plan. “Let your capable assistant go. She can also bring the Holy Armor with her.”

There are three sacred weapons in total; this is a secret. But Wu Chen knows this as a matter of course.

"...Huh?" Lydia's heart suddenly skipped a beat. A terrifying future loomed over her.

"It's difficult. Could it be that..."

“Hmm.” Wu Chen nodded. “Tonight is a good time. If we delay any longer, you might not be able to get in touch with them.”
