Dragon Tribulation of All Realms
Chapter 265: Why is it this Night King?
Chapter 265 - How could it be this Night King?
A low thud.
A loud boom reverberated.
The cheers and celebrations on the city wall abruptly ceased, like a bird whose neck had been choked. And Wu Chen's departing steps also came to a halt.
There's something over there.
Something enormous is about to appear beyond the curtain of rain.
It was incredibly majestic and immense. Yet, through the rain, a terrifying distortion and madness could be faintly discerned.
The watchmen all stopped.
The warriors of the North all looked toward the other side of the rain curtain.
The color drained from the faces of each of them at a visible rate, and they could no longer hold their weapons tightly in their hands.
The sound of a muffled thunderclap gradually grew louder.
The dark shadow gradually stretched out.
Is it a behemoth, a giant, or...?
"...Night King." The King of the Frontier gripped his axe tightly with his remaining hand, murmuring as he gazed into the distance beyond the rain.
"It's the Night King... The Night King has arrived!" Among the barbarian warriors who had just retreated, one of them suddenly dropped his weapon to the ground.
No one punished him, no one laughed at him.
Because at this very moment, no one has even the slightest bit of leisure time.
The enormous, dark shadow stopped.
The persistent, deep, freezing rain had gradually thinned out. And so, the enormous thing that had been hidden behind the rain curtain finally revealed its true form.
It wasn't a pale-skinned White Walker—the White Walkers' status had long been proven to be not much different from other wights. What appeared in their sight was a massive beast with jet-black wings, but its head did not resemble the giant beasts commonly seen in legends!
That was... a crack.
A gigantic mouth, split open along its central axis, devoid of any function other than feeding. It opens and closes constantly, tearing and biting, swallowing everything in its path—air, corpses, stones, sand, or soil—without hesitation!
"A dragon...it's a dragon!" someone screamed hysterically, clutching their head. Any courage they once possessed had been completely extinguished by the oppressive power of the colossal black beast!
Panic then spread.
The commander-in-chief of the Night's Watch shouted loudly.
He drew his sword, suppressing his fear, and roared in an attempt to restore order. But before he could even finish his first sentence, the behemoth beyond the rain gave its immediate response.
Fragments of dark lightning swirled between the giant beast's wings.
The gaping maw swelled to its maximum size in the silence.
The ghouls, remains, and even the sand and earth around it had all been devoured by it. And when its massive body was lifted off the ground by its billowing wings, a beastly roar filled the heavens and the earth!
'Hooray—!!!!'
The air is thus deformed.
A shockwave erupted from the giant maw. An invisible yet substantial wave took shape in an instant and, a very short time later, slammed violently against the walls of the Wall of Despair!
"BOOM!!"
The massive wall, which should have been indestructible, began to shake violently!
At the top of the watchtower behind the wall, Wu Chen could barely suppress the twitching of his eyes.
How can such a thing happen?
How could something so illogical, yet not entirely impossible, exist?
He knew that George R.R. Martin was the author of *A Song of Ice and Fire*, and that the world before him was likely a manifestation of diverse, fragmented information in the author's mind, existing as inspiration. He knew that the fat old man in reality might only serve as an unseen recorder in relation to this world, just as the same story existed simultaneously in the ancient archives of Windhelm.
He knew this, so he never thought about it in that direction.
Because he also knew that this 'George R.R. Martin' had more than one work, that the author had written short stories about interdimensional travel, and that there were signs of connecting many different worldviews into one. In addition, this author had another work that was no less famous than A Song of Ice and Fire, and that work also involved interdimensional travel and conquest.
That world is called the Elden Ring. It tells the story of the succession of the God-King's power, and the stage is set on a narrow space called the Borderlands, which connects many worlds. Based on that main storyline, there exists a narrative branch—the evil forces of night have invaded the Borderlands at an incorrect point in time. And the vessel for this evil force is the Night King, who comes with the night rain.
The Night King.
Wu Chen had assumed that the Night King was merely an exceptionally strong Otherworldly being, not as powerful as he had anticipated. Based on this understanding, he decided to 'test' his luck and see if he could manage to slightly deflect the tentacles of this god of the frontier atop the Great Wall, a fortress that had withstood the power of the Frost God for thousands of years.
But now...
"What is this?" Wu Chen couldn't help but chuckle. "If the God of Cold is the night, then is the God of Red the evil god of fire? And this land is nothing more than an arena where two external deities who failed in the main storyline tear each other apart?"
"So the so-called rise and fall of Valyria is nothing more than the civil war and decline of the ancient dragon race, losing its authority and power to rule the entire world?"
He really couldn't help but laugh—and he was indeed laughing.
Because he recognized the gluttonous dragon that was rushing toward the walls of the city, and this terrifying form that controlled gravity and lightning was undoubtedly one of the eight Night Kings, the demonic dragon known as the Lord of the Night, Edley!
He wouldn't admit his mistake, because the same elements had appeared far too many times.
He didn't hesitate, because he knew its origins, which is why he raised his hand, stepped forward, and stretched out his palm.
The magic within the Wall was rapidly activated as the Night King approached. With just a little guidance, he could transform it into a wall against his attack!
He was not afraid.
He knew that before Night had managed to conquer the border region, it wasn't powerful. And the Night Lord before him was merely a puppet created by irrigating and corrupting a dead corpse, then reawakening it. Its power ceiling depended on just how strong Night truly was.
"In the end, you were still blocked north of the Great Wall."
Wu Chen's gaze was fixed on the dragon's faceless, gaping maw.
"And I think it's still worth a try now."
The next moment, the magical wall and the attacking dragon collided violently at the boundary line of the wall!
"BOOM!!!!"
The city wall shook violently.
Countless cracks and fissures spread rampantly across the outer wall!
