Dragon Tribulation of All Realms
Chapter 219 Cutting the Soul Gem
Chapter 219 - Cutting the Soul Gem
The moment he took his first step, the dragon priest's mask appeared out of thin air on Wu Chen's face. His soul, which had been unstable just moments before, solidified completely, granting him the power to move freely within the Soul Stone Tomb, which was, in a sense, the underworld.
The soul gained hands, and the will gained feet. Three towering towers stood on the dark earth before their eyes, just like the scenes they had seen when playing The Elder Scrolls games, except that the distance between them was now tens of thousands of times greater.
And those memories of the trip echoed in Wu Chen's mind.
“I am already dead, and death has its own rules.” He stepped forward, taking his second step. The instant he landed, he had traversed hundreds or even thousands of meters. “The Soul Tomb has stripped a part of my soul, and I must reclaim it to regain my wholeness.”
Just like in the game.
In the game, there are only two ways for the living to enter the Soul Tomb—the first is to become a vampire-like undead, which would allow them to easily step into the realm of death. The second is to extract a part of their soul and offer it as a sacrifice to this realm of annihilation, which is essentially a mimicry of mortal death.
Therefore, it is only natural that this is also the method for the resurrection of the dead.
Breathe.
Mimicking the physiological responses of the living can help the deceased transcend death.
An invisible tide of willpower swirled around him, rapidly strengthening his form of existence through the unity of knowledge and action. The previously tense countdown had ceased, for only upon rebirth would the incompatible power of death oppress the living's body.
There are a few things to do.
Take the third step forward. Beyond the realm of thought, a familiar scent is perceived.
He saw shadows, one faint phantom after another. They were the manifestations of the souls of the overly fragile Earthlings in this realm of annihilation. And the vast majority of them were too weak to even think.
They merely wandered across this desolate land, uttering indistinct whispers that represented their last remaining lingering attachments in life.
'Mommy...Mommy...it hurts so much...'
Is this... the end?
'What is that...? No, don't come any closer...'
'I've lived this many years, I've pretty much lived enough...'
They were men and women, young and old. Most of them had been dragged to their deaths in the aftermath of the battle between Duneville and the Decaying Coffin. Without exception, they all instinctively moved closer to the direction of the Witch Dust, for that was the only light these dead could reach in the underworld.
Wu Chen passed them.
Wu Chen stepped over their illusory hands that were outstretched towards him—he had no way to take them with him, at least not now, he didn't have that many resources to waste.
He simply walked toward his goal—the fourth step followed immediately, and an exceptionally solid soul appeared before his eyes. That pale blue soul bore the face of Hayakawa Shiori. And as Wu Chen appeared, she looked up at him, for his power was infused into her soul.
“My Lord, this is the light you left on me.” Her eyes were filled with devotion as she reached out and cupped a ball of pale blue light from her chest.
Her form immediately disintegrated, transforming into a phantom shadow of similar size to other Earth souls. Wu Chen raised his hand and filled his mask with her soul, which was ultimately slightly stronger than the others. On the side of his soul, a similarly faint fragment of phantom light also merged into the witch's soul.
Those were fragments of hers, because she was a follower of Wu Chen and walked into death alongside him. This connection led the Soul Tomb to deem her a suitable vessel, as did Wu Chen.
She thus became one-third complete. And Wu Chen was the same.
When Wu Chen's palm touched the pale blue light, a shattered gem appeared before his eyes. And with the fusion of their souls, the entire dark world trembled slightly.
A deafening roar swept in from afar. The annihilation domain's discontent was successfully expressed at this moment.
“It realized it.” Wu Chen looked in that direction.
He knew that the enormous roar was actually the roar of a dragon.
He knew that Duneville was now the ruler of the Soul Tomb, but in the past he was its prisoner—the creators of this Annihilation Realm, those ideal lords transformed from ascended necromancers, had deceived Duneville into making a pact with him, binding his soul to this Annihilation Realm. And even though Duneville had long since taken control, that old pact still functioned.
“You dare not come back,” Wu Chen said with certainty. “If you return to this land, you will be bound again.”
'Boom—' Another roar, another furious howl. The Netherworld Dragon's rage confirmed Wu Chen's judgment, and along with the rage came tangible fury.
Those were lightning bolts, intense and profound. Yet their impact was not on Wu Chen's head.
'Pop—' It sounded like a bubble being popped.
'Boom!' Hundreds and thousands of bolts of lightning crashed down around Wu Chen.
Pale bones and claws emerged from the lightning, followed by a stream of armed undead. Their numbers matched the total amount of lightning strikes. They were covered in magical light and wielded battle axes and greatbows.
They were incredibly powerful, and numerous were high-ranking undead. However, as they lunged at Wu Chen, he had already raised his hand, which was gathering his willpower.
"The Flail of Light".
High-level spells.
The prototype was solar rays and lightning chains, but Wu Chen forcibly fused and propelled them together with his immense willpower. This was also a way of using the Prayer spell, and the next moment, the exploding light scattered in all directions like a spider web across the desolate and gloomy land!
One strike, all destroyed.
Wu Chen's healing spells, which had been useless against the Ramaya bloodline, finally proved effective in the right place. With a single strike, all the undead warriors summoned by Duneville from afar turned to dust.
His temporary combat power of over level ninety was still functioning. Meanwhile, on the other side of the sky, Duneville, unable to enter the Soul Tomb, could only rage in vain.
"You can't do anything to me." At least not now.
Wu Chen spoke calmly. He gripped his Soul-Slicing Gem, and a subtle resonance allowed him to sense the whereabouts of the other two fragments. And so—
He took his fifth step.
