Reborn as a Police Officer in India
Chapter 566 Supporting the People's Party
Chapter 566 Supporting the People's Party
Rodon didn't answer the phone immediately; he pondered for a moment.
He wondered what Sharif wanted to talk about this time.
The situation at the Central Bureau of Investigation has been relatively stable recently.
After thinking about it, Rodton realized it was still related to the next election.
Sharif and his team are still very focused on the next general election.
Rodon was actually very concerned, even though he knew the course of history, he was afraid that some of his actions would affect the course of history.
The thought process only took a few seconds, and Rodton quickly pressed the answer button.
“Roton, I want to ask you something. Are some of the old guys who have retired from the military planning to join political parties and participate in the next general election?” Sharif asked.
Rodon thought to himself, "So that's what it is."
"I have such information. From what I know now, the number of people involved is quite large, and most of them are on the side of the People's Party," Rodon said.
He was the acting director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, and controlled a vast intelligence network.
Even things happening in the military, Rodon could find out.
Rodon actually remembered this incident as well.
However, he now knows these things not only because of the information gathered by the CBI, but also because Sandy Unikrishinan had talked to Rodon about them.
Sandy and Rodton's friendship was forged during the Mumbai terrorist attacks, and it has remained strong over the years as Rodton's status has risen.
Sandy comes from a military family, and coupled with his outstanding abilities, he has risen through the ranks in the military very quickly over the years.
Although he was not as good as Rodon, he was still a young and promising general.
Sandy had mentioned some things about the military to Rodon.
Sandy recently discussed the plans of some retired high-ranking military officers, who are preparing to join a political party or form their own in preparation for the next general election.
Under normal circumstances, these retired high-ranking military officials do not participate in politics.
But now, all of that has changed.
Sharif dared not be careless when it came to military movements.
Although Sharif also had his own network of connections, he was retired after all, and the information he could get was certainly not as well-informed as Rodton's.
That's why he called Rodton to inquire and verify.
"Indeed, this has huge implications; it's a disaster for the Congress Party and other opposition groups." Sharif's voice lowered. "It seems we have no choice but to intervene. Sigh, the risk..."
Sharif sighed on the phone and didn't continue.
Rodton understood what Sharif meant.
Sharif and his allies did not want the People's Party to continue to gain power, and had been closely monitoring the movements of various political parties during this period.
The strength of the People's Party is undeniable, while the opposition, including the Congress Party, is also making efforts.
Unfortunately, judging from the current outcome, Sharif is clearly unable to sit still.
If the People's Party continues like this, their Central Bureau of Investigation will definitely be suppressed in the future.
Even with Roton's immense influence among the people, it would be difficult for him to contend with the three-term People's Party.
"Should we give the Congress Party more support?" Rodton asked.
“What else can we do besides the Congress Party?” Sharif sighed. “Even the worst Congress Party is still better than the others. They’re a bunch of useless idiots.”
Sharif wanted to give the Congress Party and other opposition groups a good dressing down for their performance.
But no matter how dissatisfied you are, the Congress Party really is the strongest opposition party.
This is a world where everyone tries to be the worst.
Rodon did not reply immediately, but pondered for a moment.
Sharif's words stirred something in Rodon's heart, and an idea suddenly popped into his head.
"Are you free tonight? Given the current situation, I'd like to speak with you privately," Rodon asked.
Rodon's words surprised Sharif.
Sharif had only wanted to confirm the information he had received earlier with Rodon.
In dealing with the People's Party, Sharif actually didn't want to directly involve Rodon.
They still wanted to leave themselves a way out.
Rodton is the best choice.
Even if we old folks fail, we can just take all the responsibility in the future.
Then at least Rodon can be removed.
Given Rodon's own power and influence, the People's Party couldn't really do anything to him.
So they still have a chance to turn things around.
Now that Rodon wants to talk to me alone, what's his plan, or does he want to get involved himself?
“I’ll be home tonight,” Sharif said.
Whatever it is, we'll find out when Rodton arrives.
That evening, Rodton went to Sharif's house.
"Roton, do you have a plan or some ideas about what happened during the day?" Sharif asked directly.
Sharif had been thinking about Rodton's visit tonight.
After all, this matter was of great importance, and Sharif cared about it very much. "Yes, there is something I'd like to discuss with you to see if it's a safe bet," Rodon replied.
"Just say it."
"Could you support the People's Party?" Rodon asked, staring at Sharif.
"The People's Party?" Sharif's eyes widened.
Of course he knew what the People's Party was all about; wasn't it just a political party created by Rodton's women?
“It’s not that it’s impossible, it’s just…” Sharif said after a moment of thought.
He had heard that the People's Party, formed by Kanina and the other women, had some influence.
However, he didn't pay much attention to it.
In his view, the influence of the Afghan Party is probably limited to Mumbai and the Maharashtra region.
It's probably not enough to influence the outcome of the People's Party's general election.
Therefore, in Sharif's mind, it still comes down to the Congress Party.
There's no way around it; the Congress Party has a solid foundation.
Although they have made a complete mess of things in recent years, apart from them, everyone else is even more incompetent and simply cannot carry the banner of fighting back against the People's Party.
Sheriff didn't finish his sentence, but Rodton could guess some of Sheriff's concerns.
The concern is that the populist party doesn't have enough influence.
Rodton does not deny this.
But this time, in Rodon's view, it was a good opportunity for him to secure a huge external support for Kanina.
“Some time ago, I reached an agreement with Arvind that if the Afghan Party can win the governing power of the two states in the next general election, then the two parties will merge…” Rodon told Sharif about some of the agreements he had previously reached with the Afghan Party in Delhi.
Upon hearing this, Sharif's eyes lit up.
I didn't expect Rodon to have already started making moves; I underestimated Rodon.
“If the two major civilian parties in the north and south were to merge, their influence would indeed increase significantly,” Sharif agreed. “However, they still wouldn’t be enough to compete with the People’s Party. Arvind and his party only have one seat in the Federal Parliament this term. The civilian party has a few, but the gap is too large compared to the People’s Party. Even the Congress Party would crush you.”
"If you fully support the Congress Party, can the Congress Party defeat the People's Party and seize power?" Rodon did not answer Sharif's question, but continued with his own inquiry.
He certainly understood Sharif's concerns.
Kanina and her group, along with the People's Party, are still too weak compared to the Congress Party.
The disparity in seats in the federal parliament alone is enormous.
It's perfectly normal for Sharif to have such thoughts.
However, Rodton had his own ideas, and he believed he could persuade Sharif.
"To be honest, I have absolutely no idea what to expect," Sharif said with a wry smile. "But apart from the Congress Party, the others are even more complicated. Your People's Party is good, but unfortunately, it's not quite suitable right now."
If possible, Sharif would certainly support Rodton's choice.
Unfortunately, the current size of the People's Party is really not enough.
If you want to challenge the People's Party, you can't avoid the Congress Party; you can only choose them and cooperate with them to have a chance.
“I also believe that the BJP will win the next general election with almost no suspense,” Rodon said.
"You mean we don't need to struggle anymore?" Sharif asked, his brow furrowing slightly.
To be honest, that was pretty much his idea too.
But he just couldn't accept it.
It is foreseeable that if the People's Party wins again, their Central Bureau of Investigation will definitely be suppressed.
This is something he and others cannot accept.
Therefore, in this final moment, we must take a gamble no matter what.
He still thought that Rodton would be their last resort.
But if Rodon backs down, what's the point of their next move?
It would be better to do nothing; perhaps then the People's Party won't be so ruthless in the future.
“No, of course we need to take action,” Rodon smiled. “There’s basically no chance of stopping the People’s Party from winning, so we can do something else.”
"What do you mean?" Sharif was a little confused about Rodon's meaning.
“Since we can’t stop the People’s Party from continuing to govern, why don’t we start with the number of seats in the Federal Parliament?” Rodon said. “The reason why the People’s Party is so strong is not because they are the ruling party, but because they are dominant and hold more than half of the parliamentary seats.”
Sharif's face lit up with realization; after Rodon's prompting, he immediately understood.
He was a big shot in the Central Bureau of Investigation, a smart man who understood things immediately.
"You mean our next goal is to prevent the People's Party from gaining a majority of parliamentary seats again?" Sharif said.
Although Sharif understood what Rodon meant, he still asked to confirm.
“That’s right. Without a majority of seats, the People’s Party can only form a coalition government with other allies,” Rodon said. “In that case, although they will still be in power, they cannot dominate. They will have to consider the interests of other allies and share power. So the People’s Party can’t be as unscrupulous as it is now.”
Sharif's face lit up with excitement.
He realized he had fallen into a misconception.
That is, they want to thwart the People's Party and prevent them from becoming the ruling party again.
But this is obviously too unrealistic.
Rodon's words opened up a new world for him.
Because Rodon's method was much easier than he had previously thought, the chances of success were much greater.
