Chapter 229 Reunion is the Horn of Parting

"Na'er, what are you looking at?" Tang Wulin noticed his sister's absent-mindedness.

"It's nothing." Na'er quickly looked away and flashed a bright smile. "Brother, tell me about your life these past few years! I've missed you so much."

Just as the brother and sister were immersed in the joy of their reunion, two figures walked side by side at the academy gate.

Gu Yue was dressed in snow-white robes, her black hair flowing like a waterfall; Gula, on the other hand, was in a close-fitting outfit, his golden hair shining like light. They had just returned from the Star Dou Great Forest, still carrying a faint, fresh scent.

"Training ended pretty early today," Gula squinted, looking towards the training ground. "Why is everyone gathered there..."

His words came to an abrupt halt. Gu Yue stopped in her tracks at the same time, her amethyst-like eyes narrowing slightly—she saw that familiar yet unfamiliar silver-haired figure, intimately linked arm in arm with Tang Wulin, his smile as bright as the early spring sunshine.

Gula's expression instantly became complicated, and he said sarcastically, "I heard that Tang Wulin has a missing sister. Is that her? What's she doing at Shrek Academy?"

Gu Yue did not answer immediately. Her gaze shifted back and forth between Tang Wulin and Na'er, her expression gradually returning to calm, but in her deep eyes, a storm that no one could understand was brewing.

Gu Yue didn't answer, but turned and walked towards the dormitory, but her fingers were already unconsciously clenched in her sleeve.

Gula glanced thoughtfully at the brother and sister laughing and talking on the playground, then looked at Gu Yue's departing figure, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes.

At the same time, Na'er suddenly felt a strange palpitation. She subconsciously looked towards the direction of the academy gate, but only saw an empty passageway and a strange figure.

Unbeknownst to her, the gears of fate had already begun to turn, and her entanglement with Gu Yue and Tang Wulin was far more complex than she had imagined.

"Tang Wulin, introduce this beautiful lady to us!"

Yang Nianxia stared wide-eyed, shamelessly leaning forward with a fawning smile plastered on his face. His imposing figure almost blocked half the sunlight, but it couldn't conceal the amazed gleam in his eyes.

Even the usually proud Luo Guixing, unusually, lowered his guard, unconsciously straightened his collar, and followed. The other male students in the class were even more eager, gathering around in twos and threes, their eyes fixed intently on the stunningly beautiful girl with silver hair and purple eyes.

Tang Wulin knew exactly what they were thinking. He frowned slightly, took a step forward, and stood in front of Na'er, spreading his arms like a mother hen protecting her chicks.

Seeing this, Na'er's lips unconsciously curled up, and a sweet smile appeared in her amethyst-like eyes. She gently tugged at Tang Wulin's sleeve, enjoying the long-lost feeling of being protected.

"Don't come any closer!" Tang Wulin's voice was a few decibels lower than usual. "The training isn't over yet, let's continue."

As he spoke, he gripped Yang Nianxia and Luo Guixing's wrists with both hands like iron clamps, and dragged them toward the playground without giving them a chance to speak.

Na'er gazed at her brother's retreating figure, the sunlight gilding him with a golden edge.

In a daze, she seemed to return to that simple yet cozy little house, where the morning sunlight streamed through the window, and her brother would always shield her from the harsh light. Those simple and pure days now seemed as beautiful as a dream.

"You miss it, don't you?"

A calm voice suddenly rang in my ears.

Na'er's heart skipped a beat, and she turned to meet a pair of emerald-like eyes. Before she knew it, the young man with long, golden-green hair was standing beside her, hands behind his back, his gaze following Tang Wulin's figure in the distance.

Nar's pupils contracted slightly: "Emerald gold hair...you are...Gula?"

She regretted it as soon as the words left her mouth. Hadn't she just exposed her as a teacher? She quickly lowered her eyes to hide her panic, "What are you saying? I... I don't understand."

Gula's lips curled into a playful smile, his gaze lingering on her slightly trembling eyelashes for a moment: "I am Gu Yue's partner."

He paused, then his voice suddenly lowered, "Cherish this time, the news that follows... may be very cruel for you."

A gentle breeze stirred, causing Na'er's silver hair to flutter softly. Gula thought to himself, no wonder those old folks always loved to play the riddle teller—watching others' anxiety over the unknown was certainly quite amusing. He made a move to leave, but his sleeve was suddenly tugged at.

"Wait!" Na'er's fingers tightened involuntarily. Unlike when she was with Tang Wulin, a sharp glint flashed in her purple eyes. "Explain yourself before you leave!"

Hearing the commotion from afar, Tang Wulin immediately released Yang Nianxia and rushed back like a gust of wind.

Yang Nianxia rubbed her reddened wrist and muttered sourly, "Hmph, he didn't introduce me to him, now he's got his eye on Gula, isn't he? Tang Wulin is no match for him."

Luo Guixing didn't agree, but just stared intently at the silver figure in the sunlight. In the instant the girl turned her head, he seemed to see thousands of stars swirling in her violet eyes, imprinted on his heart.

"Gula, release Na'er!" Tang Wulin roared, and the aura of the Golden Dragon King was released uncontrollably, causing the surrounding air to freeze.

Gula shrugged innocently, lifting the sleeve that Na'er had clenched into wrinkles: "Look closely, it's her who's holding me and won't let go."

Tang Wulin's face stiffened for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure and pulled Na'er behind him, standing between the two like a giant dragon guarding a treasure: "You already have Gu Yue, don't mess with Na'er."

These words struck Na'er like a thunderbolt.

She looked up abruptly, meeting Gula's unfathomable eyes, which seemed to hold the secrets of time and space, with starlight flowing within them, deep and boundless.

The girl hurriedly lowered her head, her long silver hair obscuring her flushed cheeks—she must have misheard; how could that cold-blooded, ruthless demon possibly…

How could they possibly be with humans?
Na'er's fingertips trembled slightly, but she quickly smiled, her silvery voice breaking the tense atmosphere: "Brother, you've misunderstood!"

She deftly let go and spun around, her long silver hair tracing graceful arcs in the sunlight. "The teacher mentioned this student to me, and I was just curious to ask him a question."

Tang Wulin looked at Gula suspiciously: "What's the problem? And who is your teacher...?"

"Oh!" Na'er affectionately took Tang Wulin's arm, a sly glint in her purple eyes. "Don't ask, it's my secret."

"As for my teacher, I'll tell you later."

Her eyelashes fluttered rapidly, signaling to Gula to cooperate.

Gula gave an innocent smile: "Excuse me."

He nodded slightly, and as he turned around, a cold glint flashed through his long hair. "Let's talk again when we have time."

As the tall, slender figure disappeared into the distance, Tang Wulin's tense shoulders finally relaxed.

He turned around and took Na'er's hand, his eyes full of worry: "Stay away from him in the future. That guy... is very strong. If he bullies you, your brother won't be able to handle him."

As he spoke, Tang Wulin gave a wry smile. He didn't want to show his vulnerable side in front of Na'er, but right now, he really had no hope of defeating Gula.

Even Old Tang said that he could only defeat Gula with 100% certainty after breaking the six seals and obtaining the divine artifact, the Golden Dragon Spear.

"Okay~" Na'er winked playfully, then suddenly tiptoed and ruffled Tang Wulin's hair. "Brother, you're still such a worrywart."

Amidst the cheers and jeers of the surrounding students, she blushed and ran away, exclaiming, "I'm going to tour the campus!"

As soon as she turned the corner of the teaching building, Na'er's smile vanished.
