Chapter 423 A Bet: Liu Xiaoli is Pregnant Again, Should She Keep the Baby or Not?

In March 1993, the northern ice city was still chilly in early spring.

However, in Nanxun Ancient Town in the south, a light drizzle has fallen, making the weather pleasantly warm, and the temperature has risen.

"Duoyu, time to eat."

Liu Xiaoli pushed open the study door and called out to Wang Duoyu, who was writing by the window.

"Okay, I'll come right away."

Wang Duoyu didn't even look up, and simply responded.

After a while, he got up and left the study.

Upon entering the living room, he saw a simple meal on the table.

Three dishes and a soup—not a large portion, but it was enough for just the two of them.

Why are there only the two of them?

Because Wang Yifei and the other children all stayed in Harbin, this time, only the couple came out to travel.

The children have now grown up and have their own lives.

However, every evening, Liu Xiaoli would video call the children and participate in their dinner and mini-classes.

So now Wang Duoyu and Liu Xiaoli can finally enjoy some time alone together.

"Shall we go out for a stroll this afternoon?"

"Sure, but only after 3 PM."

"no problem."

Liu Xiaoli smiled and replied.

For her, traveling with Wang Duoyu was never boring.

In any case, Wang Duoyu's work should be the priority.

Moreover, once the weekend arrives, the children will come here to meet up with them, and that's when Wang Duoyu's work hours begin.

The ancient town is very small, and Wang Duoyu and his wife will stay here for a maximum of half a month.

Even so, in less than three days, Liu Xiaoli actually became familiar with her neighbors.

That night, before going to bed, she chatted with Wang Duoyu:
"My neighbor, Comrade Li Dajiao, said that business in their ancient town is very difficult. In March, which is the off-season for tourism, they can't even receive a few tourists all day long."

Even during peak tourist season, hotel occupancy rates are less than 70%.

"Duoyu, do you have any ideas to help them?"

Li Dajiao?
Wang Duoyu has a strange look in his eyes. Does anyone really have a name like that?

Have you done any research? Are you sure they don't make money during the peak tourist season?

Liu Xiaoli is probably being used by someone.

It's 1993 now, not 1983.

Moreover, the ancient town is located near Shanghai, where the Jiangsu and Zhejiang conglomerates are the best at doing business.

Why was there a saying during the Republic of China era: "The Bund is a place of pleasure and turmoil, a place where heroes rise and fall"?

Although the most important reason was the social environment at the time, especially the emergence of concessions.

However, on the other hand, it is also closely related to the conglomerates of Jiangsu and Zhejiang.

The Jiangzhe financial group back then had many people, such as Liu Hongsheng, one of the four famous business giants of the Republic of China.

He was known as the "Match King" and the "Wool Textile King." After starting his business in coal, he ventured into industries such as matches, cement, and wool textiles, and founded companies such as Dasheng Yarn Factory and Huashang Shanghai Cement Company.

During the War of Resistance against Japan, he took the lead in donating supplies to support the front lines.

There was also Bao Zhaolong, a Ningbo businessman during the Republic of China era. He owned a bank in Shanghai and was a prominent Chinese businessman in the city.

It can be said that there are too many people in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang area who know how to do business.

Now, more than a decade after the reform and opening up, the Jiangsu and Zhejiang regions have seen investment from overseas Chinese and other "fellow townsmen," making them one of the fastest-growing economic regions in China.

In his previous life, Wang Duoyu visited these ancient towns and places many times after the millennium.

I discovered that many of the "masters" in the ancient town had a beautiful woman standing next to them, helping them collect money and sell their calligraphy and paintings. The masters could earn over ten thousand yuan a day just by writing calligraphy.

That was the first decade of the new millennium.

Earning over 10,000 yuan a day is simply unimaginable.

At that time, Wang Duoyu was thinking about a question: Are all the tourists in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang area so rich?

After all, most of the people who come to the ancient town are from surrounding cities, and fewer come from other parts of the country, and even fewer come from abroad.

Therefore, these masters are basically supported by wealthy tourists from the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas.

It is important to know that the Jiangnan region is known for its rich literary tradition; during the feudal dynasties, it was the region with the most literati and scholars.

Even in modern times, many writers such as Lu Xun, Mao Dun, Yu Dafu, Xu Zhimo, and Yu Hua came from the Jiangnan region.

The ancient town where Wang Duoyu and his friends are now located has long been commercialized.

It may seem like there aren't many tourists each day, but those who do come spend quite a bit of money.

Besides, the peak tourist season is when the ancient town makes the most money.

Liu Xiaoli was very well protected by Wang Duoyu, and she only had a superficial understanding of business.

Moreover, since her family is wealthy, Liu Xiaoli doesn't need to expend any energy to earn money; she only needs to take care of Wang Duoyu and the children at home.

She doesn't even need to cook or do laundry; she spends all her time eating, drinking, and having fun.

It's normal that she was taken advantage of.

She believed everything Li Dajiao said.

They wouldn't even bother to investigate; they're so naive.

“There aren’t many tourists now, it’s the off-season, so we definitely won’t make any money,” Liu Xiaoli said matter-of-factly.

Wang Duoyu shook his head:

"Just take it as a joke, don't take it seriously."

"why?"

"You do not trust me?"

"It's not that I don't believe you, it's just that you haven't investigated either."

When it comes to criticizing her husband, Liu Xiaoli is quick-witted and sharp-tongued.

Unfortunately, she's too kind and doesn't have much guile towards outsiders.

Wang Duoyu said:
"How about we make a bet? If you win, I'll spend the next two weeks traveling with you and won't work; if you lose, then you have to do as I say for the next two weeks."

Upon hearing this, Liu Xiaoli blushed deeply, shyly slapped him, and spat out:

"What did you say?"

"It's just the two of us in the bedroom, what are you shy about? Besides, this is to enhance our relationship as husband and wife. What's there to be ashamed of intimacy in the bedroom?"

"Pah, who's as shameless as you?"

"Don't interrupt, just tell me if you want to bet or not?"

"How do you want to bet?"

"Tomorrow, go find Li Dajiao and tell her that someone is interested in her family's hotel and wants to buy it for 130% of the market price. See if they are willing. I bet they won't, because her family's hotel is very profitable."

Upon hearing this, Liu Xiaoli became even more puzzled:

"No, Duoyu, how could you think their hotel makes money?"

"Don't change the subject, are you willing to bet?"

"Okay, I agree."

"Hehe, Xiaoli, then you can wash up and wait for me in bed tomorrow night."

"Are you that confident? Aren't you afraid of things going wrong?"

Wang Duoyu was too lazy to talk to her, so he put his arm around her and continued to finish the fill-in-the-blank questions he hadn't completed yet.

I'm determined to make her do a few mental math problems tomorrow.

The next day, Liu Xiaoli went to chat with Li Dajiao at the entrance of her hotel in the morning.

After some casual conversation, the topic of Wang Duoyu's bet came up.

Upon hearing that someone was willing to buy his hotel at 130% of the market price, Li Dajiao's smile immediately froze.

The next moment, she declined, saying:
"Xiaoli, this hotel is our family's ancestral home, so it definitely can't be sold."

Liu Xiaoli was somewhat incredulous, and immediately raised the price:

"What if we set the price at 150% of the market value? Would you be willing to sell? After all, you suffer heavy losses during the off-season, and you don't make much money even during the peak season. Rather than incurring losses, it's better to sell."

What a loss!
Li Dajiao cursed inwardly.

Keeping wealth hidden is a survival wisdom for many Chinese people.

Don't be fooled by the fact that the hotels in their ancient town don't make much money, but during peak season, they can earn back a year's worth of costs in just one month, and make a killing in the other months.

How could I possibly lose money?
To be honest, Li Dajiao never expected that Liu Xiaoli, who was pure-hearted and straightforward, would have such a business mind.
Does Liu Xiaoli really want to acquire her family's hotel?

Pshaw, this is definitely not for sale.

A 50% price increase seems like a good deal, but in reality, once the hotel is sold, Li Dajiao and her family may not be able to find such a good way to continue investing.

"No, we're not selling. We've already said this is our ancestral home; our family has lived here for generations."

Hearing Li Dajiao's words, Liu Xiaoli understood.

He said, quite angrily:
"So it seems your hotel is making quite a bit of money, but you actually said it's not? Haha, you businessmen are really two-faced."

After saying that, Liu Xiaoli got up and left.

In her view, the people in Nanxun Ancient Town are simple and honest, and everyone helps each other.

However, Liu Xiaoli did not expect that the other party would play mind games with her.

This kind of person is not worth associating with; even saying a single word to them is a waste of their life.

After leaving in a huff, Liu Xiaoli returned and originally intended to go to the study to find Wang Duoyu.

But when she thought of the bet Wang Duoyu had mentioned last night, her pretty face suddenly flushed red and burning hot. She withdrew her hand from the door, quietly backed away, and went downstairs to the living room to watch TV.

During lunchtime, Liu Xiaoli had no choice but to confess the situation to Wang Duoyu.

"Am I right? Haha, remember to get all clean and ready for me tonight!"

"Humph!"

Liu Xiaoli rolled her eyes at him, then frowned and said:
"How did you tell?"

"Xiaoli, I've told you to read more books, but you don't believe me. If you read more books, you won't be fooled."

Wang Duoyu said with a smile:
Do you know who the best business people in China are?

Chaoshan, Anhui merchants, Jiangsu and Zhejiang conglomerates, etc., but in fact, the Jiangsu and Zhejiang region is the most business-savvy and the most successful group.

It's not to say that everyone in the Jiangnan region is a businessman.

At the very least, many people here are good at business, and quite a few of them are doing it quite well.

Despite the fact that in the years before Wang Duoyu's time travel, the southern province of GD had been the country's economic champion for more than 30 consecutive years.

But that's because of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

Furthermore, before Shenzhen rose to prominence, there was the Shantou Special Economic Zone.

But what about the Jiangzhe region?

There are no special economic zones; they have developed entirely on their own.

Leaving aside the Thirteen Protectors, Zhejiang is very wealthy, and the wealth is relatively evenly distributed.

Unlike Guangdong, where only a few cities like Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Foshan are considered decent, the rest of the cities are all impoverished.

For example, cities like Qingyuan, Heyuan, Shaoguan, and Meizhou are all ranked near the bottom of the national city rankings.

Compared to Jiangsu and Zhejiang, the gap is indeed huge.

People from Jiangsu and Zhejiang are not only good at business, but also place great importance on education.

While people in Guangdong are busy preparing late-night snacks, children in the Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas have already finished countless sets of test papers and then gone to bed on time.

Nightlife consists of doing practice tests and reviewing my mistakes.

This is the difference.

"Duoyu, these books don't seem to mention this, do they?"

"Hehe, how could I not have mentioned it?"

Wang Duoyu countered with a question:

"We've been to Lu Xun's former residence, Mao Dun's former residence, and many other places. Do you remember where they were from?"

Liu Xiaoli rolled her eyes again:

Who remembers these things?

"So you haven't read enough books, otherwise you wouldn't have trouble remembering them."

Shaking his head, Wang Duoyu continued:
"Tomorrow is Friday. After the children arrive, you should interview them one by one and ask them if they know where Xu Zhimo, Yu Dafu, Mao Dun, and Lu Xun were from."

"it is good!"

That evening, the couple enjoyed a very fulfilling and perfect married life.

However, Liu Xiaoli experienced some nausea the next day, which made Wang Duoyu a little scared: "Are you having morning sickness?"

Then he received a glare:
"How could that be? We've been doing a very good job with our procedures; there's no way we could have pregnancy symptoms!"

Although Liu Xiaoli is only 34 years old this year, she can still have children.

But neither Wang Duoyu nor Liu Xiaoli want to have any more children.

After all, they have four children, which is quite conspicuous among the young faculty members at Harbin Institute of Technology.

Even though he and Liu Xiaoli have not yet registered their marriage, their children are all registered under Liu Xiaoli's household registration.

But four children—compared to other teachers who only have one child—makes it too conspicuous.

Of course, Wang Duoyu isn't afraid of having another child, but there's no need for it.

"It's good that it's not morning sickness."

Wang Duoyu breathed a sigh of relief, but Liu Xiaoli raised her hand and slapped him:

"Hmph, all you do is humiliate me."

"No way, it's a matter of honoring the bet, you agree?"

Liu Xiaoli was too lazy to argue with him. Anyway, the children were here today, so he couldn't do whatever he wanted tonight.

At 9:30 p.m. that evening, all ten children, including Wang Junhong, arrived at Nanxun Ancient Town.

It was getting late, so we didn't chat much that night and went to bed first.

The next day, Saturday, at eight o'clock in the morning, all the children got up.

After breakfast, Liu Xiaoli began asking the children questions.

And sure enough, even Wang Junkang knew that Yu Dafu was from Fuyang, Zhejiang, and Xu Zhimo was from Haining.

Not to mention the older kids like Wang Junhong, Li Rongrong, Wang Junan, and Lu Yuening.

This really hit Liu Xiaoli hard.

To her utter surprise, the children knew more than she did.

Perhaps this is one of the benefits of reading more books?

At 10 a.m., after the class ended, Wang Junhong and his classmates went out for a stroll without even having lunch.

They're going to wander around somewhere else today, and I doubt they'll be back tonight.

They often come to Nanxun Ancient Town and are very familiar with its streets, so they naturally won't wander around the town.

Springtime in the south offers pleasant weather.

Therefore, Wang Junhong and his group were very happy to stroll around and relax here.

The following noon, during lunch, Wang Yifei suddenly said:

"Dad, where are you and Mom going next week? How about Guangzhou? I haven't been there in ages."

The little one is going to kindergarten now, and she has to be separated from her parents for several days each week, only seeing them on weekends.

Even so, the little guy seems to have gotten used to it.

Four- or five-year-old children prefer playing to clinging to their parents and acting spoiled.

"Dad, I want to go to Guangzhou too. I saw on the news that a large hospital is being built there with a lot of advanced medical equipment."

The third son also came to join in the fun, looking at his father expectantly.

Li Rongrong, Lu Yuening, and their siblings didn't speak up, not because they didn't want to go somewhere, but because they also liked going to Guangzhou.

"Then let's go to Guangzhou."

Wang Duoyu smiled and agreed, and the children immediately cheered and jumped for joy.

Time flies, and it's already late March.

In the editorial office of the Harbin Institute of Technology Mathematics Journal, Wiles received another email from Wang Duoyu.

"Another paper?"

Wiles stared wide-eyed, his face filled with disbelief.

Professor Wang is incredibly prolific; he published a paper just last month and now he has another one.

Wang Duoyu, who had already arrived in Guangzhou, was unaware of Andrew Wiles' shock.

He has now completed three papers, and after the Qingming Festival in April, he will begin to deduce the problem of Yang Mills' existence and mass gap.

Near Jiangzhong Island in Guangzhou, Wang Duoyu sat under a large banyan tree, fishing while gazing at the distant Zhujiang New Town.

Jiangzhong Island is his home. A large number of tall southern trees have been transplanted to the island, and several of them are over a hundred years old.

And trees like the banyan tree, with their lush foliage, provide the best shade under the blazing sun on a clear day.

In Guangzhou at the end of March, the temperature had already reached 26 or 27 degrees Celsius.

However, the temperature in Harbin is only seven or eight degrees Celsius now, and it even snows occasionally.

In the north, it's actually possible for snow to fall in June.

Fishing under a big banyan tree is certainly a very comfortable experience.

The only downside is that the Zhujiang New Town across the street makes noise every day, with a constant "Duang, Duang, Duang" sound.

The main reason is that Zhujiang New Town has begun renovations in the last year or two.

The foundations for the three buildings invested and constructed by Wang Duoyu have also begun to be excavated.

He had previously discussed with Yuan Youlan and others the construction of a high-rise building near Guangzhou East Railway Station, and the building had already reached more than fifty stories.

Afterwards, two skyscrapers will be built in this area of Zhujiang New Town, which is adjacent to the Pearl River.

These two skyscrapers were actually built on the site of the East and West Towers in the original timeline.

Once completed, they will be the tallest buildings in the country.

Wang Duoyu now wants to see if, in this time and space, because of his appearance, Guangzhou's Zhujiang New Town CBD will still become the most profitable central business district in China, just like in the original timeline.

Meanwhile, will five super-first-tier cities emerge in China?
In other words, among the four first-tier cities in the original timeline, an additional ice city will be added.

"Dad, a fish has taken the bait! Pull it up!"

While Wang Duoyu was lost in thought, Wang Yifei suddenly called out. When he came to his senses, the fishing rod almost slipped from his hand. He quickly grabbed the rod and began to fight the fish in the Pearl River.

Actually, when he fishes, it's mostly those who are willing to take the bait.

Back when I lived in Harbin, I really enjoyed fishing for the Heilongjiang sturgeon, and my fishing skills were pretty good.

But times have changed. Now, Wang Duoyu thinks more when he goes fishing than when he's fishing for the sake of catching fish.

My mindset is completely different now.

"Wow, Dad, this fish is huge! Does it weigh five or six pounds? Is it a grass carp?"

"Yes, it's a grass carp, but it should weigh three or four pounds."

Grass carp, one of the four major freshwater fish in China, can be found in many waters, to be honest.

It took Wang Duoyu several minutes to pull the three- or four-pound grass carp ashore.

Just as Wang Yifei leaned closer to take a look, the grass carp flicked its tail and suddenly flew away.

Fortunately, Wang Duoyu reacted quickly, kicking the grass carp with his leg and then pulling the fishing line, causing the grass carp to fall onto the shore.

The little guy pounced on it, not caring about getting dirty, and grabbed the grass carp with both of his little hands.

"Your clothes are dirty, aren't they? Your mom will definitely scold you when she sees your dirty face."

Just then, a voice came from behind.

His sister and Liu Xiaoli were already standing more than ten meters away.

Oh dear, this is really bad.

So, Wang Yifei, covered in dirt, was scolded by her mother and, under the cover of her aunt Wang Meili, slunk away to change her clothes.

As soon as the aunt and niece left, Wang Meihe suddenly said to her ninth brother:
"Ninth Brother, didn't you know that your wife is pregnant?"

Wang Duoyu was immediately shocked, looking at Liu Xiaoli and Wang Meihe with disbelief:

"What? Xiaoli, you're pregnant?"

He was indeed quite surprised.

Liu Xiaoli had experienced pregnancy-related morning sickness once before while in Nanxun Ancient Town, but neither of them took it seriously at the time.

After all, they had a lot of fun back then.

Unexpectedly, only half a month has passed, and she is actually pregnant?

Wow, that's really something!

"Yes, I've already gone to the hospital for a checkup. Why don't you take my pulse again?"

Liu Xiaoli said with a smile.

Wang Duoyu had studied medicine, and although he didn't often take pulses and treat patients, his medical skills were considered adequate.

For the past year or two, none of the children in the family have been sick, and even the third child is in good health.

In addition, Wang Duoyu was so engrossed in work after the New Year that he didn't take Liu Xiaoli's pulse much.

As a result, this mess happened.

It is said that their married life is very regular, and they have also taken relevant protective measures.

How could I still get infected?

So unreasonable!
Immediately, Wang Duoyu grasped Liu Xiaoli's wrist and began to take her pulse.

A moment later, his expression became quite interesting.

It really is a pregnancy test!
What?

"Duoyu, shall we give birth? It's a gift from God."

Before Wang Duoyu could even speak, Liu Xiaoli had already spoken.

Wang Duoyu frowned immediately:
"Do you really want this child?"

"Ok!"

She nodded emphatically, and Wang Meihe echoed her sentiments:

"Ninth Brother, we should definitely give birth to her. If we abort, it will cause more harm to your health."

Wang Duoyu really wanted to explain this to his sister.

Abortion may seem to cause great harm to a woman's body, but if the abortion is performed in the early stages of pregnancy and the process goes smoothly, the harm will naturally be much less.

But having a baby is a different story.

Most importantly, Liu Xiaoli had surgery when she gave birth to her third child.

Although giving birth to Wang Yifei was relatively smoother later, she still had that experience.

Therefore, Wang Duoyu is more inclined to abort the child.

"Xiaoli, why don't you get an abortion?"

After a long silence, Liu Xiaoli shook her head and refused Wang Duoyu's persuasion.

"I still want to have this child. Can you support me?"

To be honest, Wang Duoyu was a little flustered.

This is not something you can support.

But judging from Liu Xiaoli's expression, she probably really wants to give birth.

Wang Duoyu couldn't understand why she needed to have another child when she already had three children, both sons and daughters.

When we had dinner that evening, all the children knew about it and started asking us all sorts of questions.

Very noisy.

However, Liu Xiaoli didn't find it noisy at all; on the contrary, she seemed to enjoy it, which was quite strange.

Before going to bed, Wang Duoyu asked her why she wanted to continue having children.

"For two reasons."

Liu Xiaoli found a comfortable position in his arms and whispered:

"Firstly, after you gave birth to Xixi, you promised me that we wouldn't have any more children, but if something unexpected happened, we would have the baby."

"I think I can still have children this year, but if it's another five or six years, then I won't have any more."

If it were another five or six years, Wang Junhong would be almost an adult, and his younger siblings would have grown up, making it truly unsuitable to have another child.

Furthermore, Liu Xiaoli was almost forty years old at that time, and having another child at that point would have been extremely dangerous, even if she took good care of herself.

"It's only been less than six years, and you're pregnant again. To be honest, I'm quite surprised, but you're 34 years old after all. Having a child at this age is still a bit risky."

Wang Duoyu frowned and said:

Aren't you worried at all about your own health?

"And another thing, do you really like kids that much? Aren't four kids at home enough for you to take care of?"

Liu Xiaoli said coquettishly:

"Are you saying I'm too old?"

"No, no, but you are after all..."

"Don't bring up my age again, hmph!"

Wang Duoyu: “.”

Women really don't make any sense!

"Secondly, I think you have too much wealth now. I should have more children to inherit your wealth and help your Wang family lineage flourish."

Hearing her say that, Wang Duoyu felt even more helpless and speechless.

Although what Liu Xiaoli said was true, in reality, he did not need his children to inherit his will.

Given his current status in the mathematics community, he will undoubtedly have a place in the history of mathematics.

His name will be etched in history!

As for the Want Want Group he founded, well, it's really hard to say.

Because no one knows what the future holds.

Besides, Want Want Group involves large capital in the United States. Who knows when they'll uncover all sorts of shell companies?

If people find out then, haha, it might cause trouble and implicate the Want Want Group.

Therefore, the Want Want Group does not necessarily need to be passed down to Wang Junhong and his children.

Wang Duoyu still believes that children and grandchildren have their own blessings.

Instead of worrying so much about the future, it's better to live well in the present.

But now that Liu Xiaoli has said that, what can he do?

"Alright, you've made up your mind, so let's have the baby."

After a pause, Wang Duoyu hugged her tighter and said:

"However, I still need to warn you that you must take good care of yourself during this pregnancy and not do anything reckless. Also, if anything unexpected happens, I will definitely prioritize saving the mother."

"Bah bah bah!"

Although Liu Xiaoli was touched, she couldn't help but say:

"Can you please stop saying such discouraging things? Can't you have some faith in me and the baby in my belly?"

She was somewhat dissatisfied because Wang Duoyu lacked confidence in her.

Wang Duoyu: “.”

Forget it, she's pregnant now, she's the boss, so I shouldn't upset her.

After coaxing her for a while, the two of them finally went to sleep.

But after a short while, she suddenly said:

"Our previous bet is null and void."

"Ah."

Liu Xiaoli was immediately surprised, because she knew Wang Duoyu's preferences well. She turned around and stared straight at him:
"Are you really willing? I thought you'd accuse me of cheating."

"Go to sleep and take good care of yourself during pregnancy, okay?"

"I'm not a child anymore. Hehe."

Wang Duoyu: “.”

They keep saying they're not children, but they always do this.

The next day, Wang Yifei and the other children, who got up early in the morning, all clung to Liu Xiaoli.

Because Liu Xiaoli is pregnant, Wang Yifei and the others are speculating whether it will be a boy or a girl.

And they enjoy it immensely.

However, they only stayed until the afternoon before having to return to Harbin, since Wang Yifei and the others had to go back to school the next day, Monday.

"Dad, next week is Qingming Festival, aren't you coming back with us?"

Upon hearing their leader's words, Wang Yifei and the others all looked at Wang Duoyu.

"You guys go back first, your mother and I will go back later."

The children were immediately disappointed; they wanted to go back to Harbin with their parents.

Two days later, Wang Duoyu and Liu Xiaoli returned to Harbin.

The day after he returned, Wang Duoyu went to the Pioneer Technology Manufacturing Plant.

"Xiao Shu, has the engine really been built?"

Pioneer Technology Manufacturing Plant was established by Wang Duoyu at the end of 1983, and Shu Biaoyin was selected as the person in charge at that time.

However, at that time, Pioneer Technology's aero-engine project was merely an empty shell.

Developing its own domestically produced civil airliner is undoubtedly very difficult.

Nearly ten years have passed, and the domestically produced aero-engine has finally passed the test by the expert group sent from Beijing, which finally alerted Wang Duoyu.

Actually, Wang Duoyu had also come to see it three years ago. At that time, the engine had already been built, but it had not yet passed the wind tunnel test, so there was nothing to be proud of.

After all, China's civil aviation passenger aircraft manufacturing industry is practically non-existent.

From now on, I've finally accumulated some experience.

"Yes, Professor Wang, we have passed all the tests, and the overall data has completely reached the international leading level."

Shu Biaoyin said excitedly.

This engine was developed entirely based on the CFM56 engine used in the Boeing 737 passenger plane.

Northern Airlines has purchased a number of Boeing 737 aircraft, but Boeing is unlikely to disclose the relevant engine technology to Northern Airlines.

But this is not necessary, because Wang Duoyu personally designed the engine; it's just that the related technologies still need to be completed by the Pioneer Technology R&D team.

The Boeing 737 is equipped with the next-generation CFM56 engine from CFMI, a US-French company.

The engine technology includes 24 wide-chord titanium alloy fan blades, but Pioneer Technology does not have such titanium alloy technology, so it uses a different titanium alloy material with a different ratio.

As is well known, the domestic aviation industry is almost non-existent.

Especially in the field of new aerospace materials, it is a blank slate.

If it weren't for the assistance of Hongxing Group, a subsidiary of Want Want Group, in developing many new alloy materials, Shu Biaoyin and his team wouldn't have been able to develop this domestically produced engine.

In addition to titanium alloy wide-chord fan blades, new features include a turbocharger with a three-stage ternary starting design, a fourth-generation full authority digital control system, a compressor with a nine-stage ternary starting design, and high-pressure turbine blades made of ternary single-crystal materials.

Compared to the original Boeing 737 engine, the CFM56 engine has an 18 percent increase in thrust.

It also meets the noise limits required by airworthiness authorities.

"Most importantly, our engine has lower fuel consumption and maintenance costs, and a total thrust of over 12880 kilograms."

After listening to Shu Biaoyin's explanation, Wang Duoyu nodded and said:
"Great job, you did a wonderful job."

While the other party was giving their presentation, Wang Duoyu was also observing the expressions of the other people and occasionally flipping through the documents in his hand.

Even if Shu Biao had ten times the courage, the other party wouldn't dare to lie.

Therefore, this domestically produced civil aviation passenger aircraft engine has indeed been developed.

Now that this has been confirmed, the next step is to integrate the engine into the main engine and conduct test flights.

"All of our other passenger aircraft component projects at Pioneer Technology have passed testing, right?"

"Yes, Professor Wang, please rest assured, everything has been tested. We can assemble it at any time and then conduct test flights."

An aircraft consists of a fuselage, wings, aerodynamics, flight control, avionics system, engine, cabin, etc.

Shortly after the engine project was established, Pioneer Technology received investment from Wang Duoyu, and subsequently established other projects.

Taking aerodynamics as an example, Wang Duoyu had already increased the fuel capacity and improved aerodynamic efficiency in the newly designed wings at the beginning of the design process.

This design has been fully demonstrated in Fluent software simulations and wind tunnel flight tests, showing that it flies farther and faster than the original Boeing 737 model.

It also increased the flight altitude, which is very important.

It is important to understand that in today's increasingly rapid wave of economic globalization, airlines will benefit from the flight altitude of passenger aircraft, enabling them to fly at altitudes that only a few aircraft can reach, even in adverse weather conditions and when routes are congested.

This is one of the core competitive advantages of airlines.

"Okay, wait a while, and after I review it, you can start the project again."

After a pause, Wang Duoyu continued:

"This domestically produced aircraft is extremely important to us. We must do our best and absolutely cannot afford any mistakes."

Shu Biaoyin was overjoyed and nodded repeatedly.

Then, he looked at Wang Duoyu cautiously and asked:

"Professor Wang, do you think we should enter the long-haul air transport market?"

Wang Duoyu immediately understood what the other party meant.

In 1990, Airbus announced the establishment of the Airbus A380 project to challenge the Boeing 747's dominance in the long-haul passenger air transport market.

In the original timeline, Airbus proposed the A380 project the following year and invested $107 billion to launch the project in 2000.

The A380 prototype was first unveiled in 2005, and was first delivered to Singapore Airlines in October 2007, entering service that same month.

Meanwhile, the A380 reached its production peak in 2012, with 30 aircraft produced annually.

However, Airbus admitted that the project was unprofitable.

He knew these things, but Shu Biaoyin did not.

"No rush, let me think about it."

Wang Duoyu said so.

The current long-haul passenger air transport market already has the Boeing 747, and in the future, there will be the A380.

If Pioneer Technology were to enter the market at this point, it would only make the market more crowded.

However, if they don't join in, then the future will be dominated by Boeing and Airbus.

By then, the rise of domestically produced passenger aircraft will become even more difficult.

Therefore, it is really necessary to accelerate the development of cutting-edge technologies.

The next day, Wang Duoyu met with Liu Deben and Lü Gongliang to discuss the long-range passenger aircraft project.

"Old Liu, Old Lü, this is roughly the situation in the long-haul passenger air transport market. Once we start this project, losses are highly probable, but we have to do it."

"Otherwise, our domestically produced passenger planes will never be able to take off, and we will always be at the mercy of others."

"I've roughly calculated that launching a large long-range passenger aircraft project will require approximately 30 billion RMB, which can be invested over five years, but we must be able to come up with that amount of funding."

"Can Harbin Institute of Technology come up with that much funding right now?"

The A380 project required an investment of $107 billion, but due to factors such as the stability of electrical wiring, the project was delayed by two years, and the actual R&D costs surged to $203 billion.

Our domestic research teams are not yet mature enough and definitely need time to gel.

In the short term, Wang Duoyu believes that an investment of 30 billion RMB is more than enough.

As long as it launches before the A380, it will be able to compete with the Boeing 747 and A380 in the long-haul passenger air transport market.

"So much money?"

Liu Deben and his companions were immediately dumbfounded.

Three hundred billion RMB is no small sum.

Given Harbin Institute of Technology's current size, it is actually capable of raising such a sum of money.

Last year, in 1992, the total profit of all companies under Harbin Institute of Technology was US$22.8 billion.

Converted to RMB, that's nearly 80 billion yuan.

However, if such a large sum of money is used entirely in the Pioneer Technology manufacturing plant, then other business leaders will definitely have objections.

Not to mention, the large long-range passenger aircraft project was destined to lose money, making it even harder to convince others.

"Yes, this amount of money is more than it should be."

Wang Duoyu said in a deep voice:

"My idea is that if Harbin Institute of Technology cannot afford such a large investment, then Want Want Group can participate in a portion of the investment, or even cooperate with them."

There are many collaborative projects between the two sides, but they have always kept clear accounts even among close brothers.

Lu Gongliang asked curiously, "Duoyu, is this project destined to lose money?" (End of Chapter)
