Chapter 370 The bigger the storm, the more expensive the fish.

In August 1990, something unexpected happened in the Middle East.

Bang!
In a violent explosion, Fahd was completely engulfed in flames, his body never to be found.

Upon seeing this, Emir Jaber was terrified and hurriedly fled with the others.

The already chaotic Middle East has been further complicated by crises.

Facebook has set up a branch office in the Middle East and hired a team of twelve journalists.

They also hired two security personnel for each of these journalists to protect their safety.

"Did you take a picture? Was it clear?"

As Facebook's star reporter in the Middle East, Bolton Frank is a very hardworking and ruthless individual.

Facebook pays a lot of money; as long as you can shoot a valuable news story, you can be rewarded with at least $10,000 to $200,000 for each story.

Different rewards will be given depending on the type of material submitted, such as videos and photos.

"I took a picture, but I just looked at it, and it seems like one of them is a member of the Kuwaiti royal family."

Upon hearing the photographer's words, Burton Frank's eyes lit up: "Quick, quick, who is it? Let's go after them right away, we should still make it in time!"

There is no doubt that Emir Jaber is a member of the Kuwaiti royal family.

After Majid Hussein gave the order to attack, several of Emir Jaber's brothers were killed in the bombing.

So he had no choice but to flee, since Majid Hussein's army was no pushover.

According to the video playback by the photographer, Bolton Frank saw Emir Jaber's face.

Bolton Frank had made extensive preparations for this day long ago.

So he's definitely going to get this reward this time.

"Chase them! They're fleeing in the direction of the Saudi Empire. If we catch up now, there shouldn't be any problem."

As Bolton Frank spoke, people began to move.

He urged the two security guards to hurry up and drive after Emil and his group.

Sure enough, Bolton Frank caught up with them halfway through the Saudi Empire.

After proactively informing the other party of their identity and purpose, Frank and his team did not have to wait long, and Emir Jaber agreed to the interview request.

In the video, Emir Jaber strongly condemned Majid Hussein's egregious behavior and demanded that he leave immediately.

They also appealed for help from the world's police.

Facebook is an American company.

Therefore, Emir Jaber's request was not excessive.

However, after this report, Bolton Frank's situation will likely be very dangerous.

However, Bolton Frank chuckled and said that he had powerful backers and that nothing would happen to him.

The interview video was quickly transmitted back to Facebook's US headquarters, and Burton Frank became a household name throughout the company.

This wave is sure to attract global attention.

Who could blame them when this was the first exclusive story that Bolton Frank had interviewed?

At the Want Want Group headquarters in New York, Lee Efra, O'Brien, and Zheng Baoyin were all on high alert, watching the price changes in the international crude oil futures market.

"Uncle Nine is right, things are indeed in chaos again over there."

After seeing the exclusive news report from Facebook, Wang Jianchao muttered to himself.

The situation in the Middle East broke out very suddenly.

The reason why Majid Hussein coveted the territory of Emir Jaber can be understood by looking at the map.

In addition, there was the fact that Majid Hussein borrowed several hundred billion dollars from Emir Jaber's family back then.

With the repayment deadline fast approaching, Majid Hussein, who wanted to renege on his debt, resorted to this desperate measure: wiping out the entire opposing party. This not only eliminated any evidence and risk of default, but also gave him more territory.

Furthermore, the geographical location of this land is very crucial, situated on the Persian Gulf side.

In addition, this area has many identified oil fields, making it a very valuable location.

"Isn't chaos normal? When hasn't it been chaotic over there?"

Fuller Carson chuckled:
"Speaking of which, a while ago I saw quite a few Middle Eastern tycoons wearing headscarves in Singapore. They might not be the same wealthy people from the places where fighting is happening now, but I guess there are both chaotic and peaceful areas there. Everything is relative."

"Besides, we can only benefit from chaos in the Middle East. Furthermore, we didn't create this situation, and we don't have that much influence."

Although Fuller Carson's point was very valid, Wang Jianchao and his group still did not quite agree.

After all, that was war.

Wang Duoyu once said that capital comes into the world, and every penny of profit is permeated with blood; it is the dirtiest thing in the world.

At that time, Zheng Baoyin and Wang Jianchao couldn't understand this sentence, because money is a good thing. It can make them eat their fill and stay warm. How can it be the dirtiest thing?

Now they understand a little.

After all, they were already living a good life, and they also had a bit of compassion.

While other places were engulfed in war, they took advantage of the chaos to make their own plans and profits.

It gives them a sense of guilt.

The people were discussing this matter, and each had different opinions.

O'Brien suddenly spoke up:

"Old Zheng, Boss Chao, I know what you mean and I understand your thoughts. To be honest, I also really want to do charity."

"But the current situation in the Middle East has nothing to do with us from beginning to end. These were all predictions by the professor, which only shows that the professor's understanding of human nature far surpasses ours."

"Right now, the professor needs money and more advanced medical technology and equipment. Otherwise, if something really happens to the Third Young Master, what do you think the professor will do?"

Everyone was startled.

If the third young master, Wang Junkang, really dies from neuroblastoma, then Wang Duoyu might go crazy.

Given Wang Duoyu's status in the mathematics community, he could solve so many mathematical problems in the world.

If he is helpless with just a cancer problem, then his personality may really change drastically.

The more talented someone is, the less ordinary people can understand their unconventional methods.

After all, last month, before Wang Junkang was even taken into the operating room, Wang Duoyu had already used three words to emphasize the speed of purchasing a medical linear accelerator: immediately, right now!
These three words also reveal that even a math whiz like Wang Duoyu can easily lose his temper when faced with a matter concerning the life and safety of those closest to him.

Did Wang Duoyu not know that his hasty purchase of a medical linear accelerator would come at a high price?
Of course he knew, but didn't he still give the money?
Afterwards?
Wang Duoyu is currently busy with two things: the International Congress of Mathematicians and tracking the progress of his son Wang Junkang's illness.

Once the mathematicians' congress is over, he will surely have some plans.

"Could it be that they're going to acquire those current pharmaceutical giants?"

Dylan Dario suddenly spoke up, making a guess, but Wang Jianchao shook his head and said:

"No, no, no, my Ninth Uncle is very likely to be directly involved in medical research. In fact, last month he locked himself in his study and kept looking up medical books."

"A few years ago, around the time my third child was born, my ninth aunt had a difficult childbirth and suffered severe bleeding, which almost cost her her life."

"Later, Uncle Jiu interned at a hospital for a period of time and also read a lot of medical books. Uncle Jiu's brain is very sharp, and he actually became a doctor in a short period of time. He can solve many minor ailments."

"This time, if anything goes wrong—no, even if nothing does, I believe my Ninth Uncle will definitely increase his research in medicine, and he himself will devote more time and energy to it."

Upon hearing Wang Jianchao's words, Zheng Baoyin nodded in agreement.

Upon hearing this, Fuller Carson, O'Brien, Lee Evra, Dylan Dario, and the others all gasped in shock.

If that's really the case, I really don't know if it's good or bad.

After all, Wang Duoyu is the emperor of mathematics; he should devote his time and energy to mathematics.

If he really does turn his attention to the medical field, frankly, that's not a good thing.

"Forget it, let's not talk about these hypotheticals anymore, it's so boring."

Suddenly, Wei Ruolai spoke up:

"The third brother, Wang Junkang, will definitely be healthy. We all know he's in the middle stage, so the probability of recovery is very high. There's no need for us to waste time guessing here."

"The most important thing right now is how to make a fortune from this oil crisis."

Why the oil crisis?

Because just yesterday, after Majid Hussein caused all that trouble.

Iraq was then subjected to international economic sanctions.

This led to a disruption in Iraq's crude oil supply.

As a result, international crude oil prices surged dramatically to a high of $42.

In 1986, the Saudi Empire sold off large quantities of crude oil, causing the price of crude oil to plummet to below $10 per barrel.

Later, the Saudi Empire ended its campaign to give away cheap crude oil, crude oil production decreased, and crude oil prices slowly recovered to $18.

In recent years, it has fluctuated between $18 and $25.

Now, things have taken a turn for the worse, with crude oil prices soaring to a high of $42 per barrel.

This is a rare opportunity for Want Want Group.

At the beginning of this year, Wang Duoyu had already mentioned this plan at the summary meeting.

Crude oil prices fluctuate dramatically, and such price differences can generate significant profits for Want Want Group.

Wang Jianchao and his team knew that Wang Duoyu's judgment was never wrong.

But they didn't expect the price of crude oil to fluctuate so much.

Therefore, at this time, while crude oil prices are high, it's best to sell off your holdings as soon as possible.

After all, if it's too late, the price could easily plummet.

"By the way, the stocks we bought before, such as ExxonMobil, American Petroleum, Pegasus, and Texaco, should have gone up quite a bit by now, right? Should we sell some?"

Lee Efra suddenly asked.

Now that it's confirmed that crude oil prices will surge, the only alternative to trading on the international crude oil futures market and buying spot crude oil is to buy stocks of oil-related companies.

The stocks of companies like ExxonMobil are performing very well, with a strong upward trend.

That's why Lee Efra made that suggestion at this time.

"Sell, why not sell?"

Wang Jianchao immediately laughed and said:

"It's currently at a high price point, I'm selling now, are you going to wait?"

Everyone else shook their heads, indicating they would sell now.

In less than three days, they sold all their stocks.

But at the same time, they discussed again: should they short-sell American oil companies?

Why?

Because the Middle East cannot remain in such chaos forever.

In other words, the crude oil in Iraq will inevitably flow back into the international market.

Crude oil prices will inevitably continue to fall, and companies like ExxonMobil cannot stop this trend.

Oil prices are bound to fall!

If that's the case, then shorting in advance would allow you to make a substantial profit, wouldn't it?
They didn't make much profit in the stock market the year before last and last year because the market wasn't turbulent enough to generate significant profits.

The bigger the storm, the more expensive the fish!
The truth is this.

So now that God has given us this opportunity, there's no reason to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear, right?

If that's really the case, then it would be a huge disservice to God's great blessings.

In a high-rise office of a skyscraper on the other side of Manhattan, New York, the head of the finance department at ExxonMobil was furious as he listened to his subordinate's report.

Because there is more capital involved in their company's stock.

The recent surge in international crude oil prices is usually a good thing.

However, a few days ago, someone sold off a large amount of their company's stock, causing some fluctuations in the stock price during the trading day.

Although the fluctuations weren't huge, it was clear that some people were taking profits and exiting the market.

Now, things are really messed up; someone's got their eyes on ExxonMobil's stock again, this time shorting it.

"Investigate this! I want to see who has the audacity to target our company like this!"

The supervisor was furious, while the subordinate muttered to himself.

What a load of rubbish!

ExxonMobil is a large corporation with a highly dispersed shareholding structure, with 40 percent of its shares circulating on the secondary market.

If you hold 0.1% of the shares, you are already a major individual shareholder, and you would be considered a top-tier individual investor in the secondary market.

Therefore, it is extremely difficult to find out who is shorting the stock of such a company.

Unless the supervisor is willing to spend a huge sum of money to bribe those people, it is virtually impossible to find out who is shorting the stock.

The information is so opaque that obtaining this information is virtually impossible.

Despite their inner complaints, the subordinates dared not contradict their supervisor and went to handle their business first.

Meanwhile, at the headquarters of the Quantum Fund, Soros also set his sights on oil companies.

"Fuck, the Gulf War broke out so suddenly, I didn't even have time to react. Otherwise, our Quantum Fund would have made a fortune."

Soros cursed under his breath, but then threw himself into his work.

He wasn't entirely certain that oil prices would fall, so he needed to gather a lot of information, not only by purchasing data from other financial analysis firms, but also by having analysts within the Quantum Fund collect data through various means to analyze the future trend of oil prices.

Macroeconomic factors such as policies, wars, and corporate financial reports all influence stock prices.

Therefore, the Quantum Fund needs to analyze a large amount of data before it can determine its next course of action.

Although Soros has learned from the historical experience of the previous two oil crises that this should be the third oil crisis.

Based on historical experience and the current situation in Iraq, international crude oil prices certainly will not remain high indefinitely.

OPEC member countries, as well as oil companies in the United States, are all likely to sell large quantities of crude oil ahead of schedule.

After all, they're not fools; they all want to take advantage of the high oil prices to quickly sell off large quantities and make more money.

Once these oil companies sell large quantities of crude oil, international crude oil prices will inevitably fluctuate.

Therefore, Soros has quite a few situations to examine and analyze.

But just as Soros was busy with these tasks, a subordinate knocked on the door and came in to report some news:
"Boss, we've just received news that someone has started shorting American oil companies in the market, and ExxonMobil, Pegasus, Texaco, and other oil companies have also been targeted by mysterious capital."

The battle between bulls and bears is easily reflected in stock prices.

Wall Street is home not only to domestic conglomerates like JPMorgan Chase, First Citibank, and Mellon Bank, but also to foreign conglomerates such as Barclays, HSBC, and Sony.

There are also a large number of other companies, not only from Europe, but also from different places such as California and Texas.

A large amount of international capital is focused on markets with volatile prices, and recently, the oil price fluctuations brought about by the third oil crisis have had the greatest impact on oil companies.

Whether in the futures market or the stock market, capital has begun to flow in in large quantities and is targeting these markets.

Bulls want oil prices to continue rising, while bears want them to plummet.

The bulls initially had the upper hand, but in the past few days, many companies have been liquidating their positions and taking profits.

Then they reversed course and shorted, dealing a heavy blow to the bulls.

This also means that the power of short sellers is growing stronger.

After listening to his subordinate's report, Soros frowned, unsure whether the Quantum Fund should intervene at this point.

He feared that it would be too late to short-sell oil companies like ExxonMobil at this point.

On the other hand, the bulls haven't put in any effort yet, and we don't know the specifics. "Do it!"

Hesitation and indecisiveness stemming from fear of both the immediate danger and the ultimate threat are not characteristic of Soros.

Regardless of the current battle between bulls and bears, based on the current stock price, Quantum Fund still has a chance to win if it joins in.

At the Want Want Group headquarters, Wang Jianchao listened to the analyst's report.

"Boss, the stock price has started to fall again. It seems someone else is shorting it, just like us."

Wang Jianchao is not a novice stock trader; he is now very familiar with US stock trading rules and understands the current stock market situation.

Therefore, the entry of short sellers is not surprising.

In Wall Street, there isn't a single capital firm that isn't driven by profit.

Since it's all for profit, they certainly won't give up easily.

Perhaps from the perspective of the bulls, the Gulf War has only just begun, even though there is much controversy surrounding it internationally.

Many people even told reporters that they wanted to condemn Majid.

But that wasn't George Bush.

If it were George W. Bush, the influence would be greater, and people would believe it.

Based on the current situation, as long as George Bush does not make any statements, the bulls will have the upper hand.

Regardless of the strength of the short sellers, for the time being, they will not have a significant impact on the long sellers.

"Well, it's okay, let's just keep an eye on it." Wang Jianchao didn't think much of it; he figured oil prices would definitely plummet anyway, so they just had to wait and see.

In Harbin, at the Harbin Institute of Technology, the Fields Medal is being awarded in a solemn and dignified auditorium.

Gelfand, representative of the Presidium of the General Assembly Committee, is loudly announcing the list of this year's Fields Medal winners.

The first one was none other than Wang Duoyu.

"Over the past four years, he has published a series of proofs, including the proof of the Collatz conjecture, the Banach hyperplane problem, partial differential equations of infinite dimensions, the functor conjecture, a new large value estimate of Dirichlet polynomials, and a new type of automorphic infinite product."

"He has made numerous theoretical research achievements, among which his greatest contribution is the functor conjecture, which greatly promoted the development of the Langlands program and laid an extremely solid foundation for the grand unified theory of mathematics."

"Let's give a warm round of applause to our Mathematics Emperor, Professor Wang Duoyu, a mathematics professor at Harbin Institute of Technology."

In an instant, thunderous applause filled the entire auditorium. Everyone spontaneously stood up and focused their gazes intently on Wang Duoyu, who was sitting in the first row.

In fact, many people gasped when the representative of the presidium, Gelfand, presented the proof of the Kolas conjecture.

As expected, everyone knows who proved the Kolas conjecture.

Amidst applause, Wang Duoyu stood up, waved to everyone, and shook hands or hugged others with a smile. After a while, he finally came to the stage.

Wang Junhong's palms were red from clapping in the crowd.

His eyes barely blinked, fixed on his father's figure.

Looking at his father on the podium, Wang Junhong's admiration for his father had reached its peak.

My father is truly amazing; he actually managed to do something like that.

This is the third Fields Medal.

I received my first one in 1983, my second one in 1986, and now, in 1990, I received my third one.

If Wang Junhong remembers correctly, his father was not yet forty years old in 1994, so it was still possible for him to win a Fields Medal.

It's a pity he's still too young, otherwise he would have liked to go on stage with his father to receive the award.

"I want to be like my father and win four Fields Medals someday."

If Wang Duoyu knew that his eldest son had such lofty ambitions, he would definitely encourage him.

However, to be honest, even Wang Duoyu, as Wang's father, wasn't sure if Wang Junhong could do it.

Some teenagers are geniuses, born for mathematics, as if God is feeding them.

Of course, most of them are ordinary people.

Whether he's a dragon or a worm depends on Wang Junhong's future development.

Thank you everyone, thank you.

On the podium, Wang Duoyu smiled and began to speak.

As he spoke, the applause in the auditorium gradually subsided.

Looking into the eyes of the audience, Wang Duoyu said a few words of thanks and gave everyone some encouragement before ending his speech.

Then came the second recipient, Bocherz, who was Wang Duoyu's student and Wang Duoyu's second student to win the Fields Medal.

When Andre Weil, another representative of the Presidium of the International Congress of Mathematicians, announced that the second Fields Medal winner was Bocherz, the applause in the auditorium became even more enthusiastic.

why?
This year, the momentous occasion of teachers and students receiving awards together on the same stage was finally realized.

In 1986, although Yorkes won the Fields Medal, Wang Duoyu was absent.

Therefore, it is a great pity that he was unable to stand with his teacher to receive the award.

Although Bocherz received the award four years late, he achieved his goal.

Wang Junhong's pupils widened in surprise. He hadn't expected that his father's student would win an award again.

Both of his students won Fields Medals; his father is truly amazing.

Aside from Wang Duoyu, who is considered an anomaly, the other frontrunners for the Fields Medal at this year's Congress of Mathematicians include Bocherz, Jean-Baptiste Gaine, Andrew Wiles, and Yang Nianzhen.

Bocherz has already won one of the Fields Medals, so there are two left.

Jean-Baptiste and others in the audience were extremely nervous.

Especially for Andrew Wiles, if he doesn't win this year, he'll never be eligible for the Fields Medal again.

He was born in 1953, three years older than Wang Duoyu.

This is his last year at the Fields Medal conference where he could receive the award.

With only two Fields Medals remaining, Andrew Wiles is extremely nervous.

During his many years at Harbin Institute of Technology, he has communicated and exchanged ideas with Wang Duoyu many times and has indeed published many papers, especially in the past two years, he has published several papers of very high quality.

In such a situation, if he fails to win the Fields Medal, it proves that he is not worthy of the award.

Even though Wang Duoyu and others had told him long ago that the Fields Medal was just icing on the cake and did not diminish people's recognition of his abilities.

However, in terms of his place in the history of mathematics, Andrew Wiles is only so-so.

As the applause subsided, Bocherz stood with Wang Duoyu, and the third representative of the General Assembly Committee, Drum, announced the third Fields Medal winner: Edward Witten.

hiss!
The applause in the auditorium was deafening. A physics professor from Harbin Institute of Technology, who hadn't won any other major awards in physics, had won the Nobel Prize of mathematics – this was truly big news!

This also shows that Edward Witten is a top-notch multi-talented individual.

Wang Duoyu desperately needs such talent, but unfortunately the other party is American, not Chinese.

Although Edward Witten came to Harbin Institute of Technology in 1983 and became a full professor in the School of Physics, he did not apply to become a Chinese citizen.

"I wonder if they will leave Harbin Institute of Technology after winning the Fields Medal this time?"

As Wang Duoyu looked at Edward Witten, he thought to himself.

Previously, Edward Witten was willing to stay at Harbin Institute of Technology because Wang Duoyu had promised him that as long as he stayed at Harbin Institute of Technology, he could guarantee to have a mathematical exchange with him once a month.

To ensure that during their time at Harbin Institute of Technology, their mathematical abilities will definitely improve by leaps and bounds.

However, no one expected Edward Witten to be so formidable, winning a Fields Medal in just seven years.

"Fuck, what a lucky kid!"

While smiling at Edward Witten, Andrew Wiles was cursing inwardly.

He did not believe that the committee chair was biased towards Edward Witten, because his own papers' impact factors and quality were indeed inferior to Witten's.

Even though the other party is a physics professor in the physics department, it does not affect their status in mathematics at all.

That's why Andrew Wiles called the other guy a lucky boy.

In fact, if Edward Witten had been willing to spend more time on mathematics, he might have become the second mathematician, after Wang Duoyu, to win two Fields Medals.

Unfortunately, Edward Witten is already thirty-nine years old this year; if he had been younger, things might have been different.

clap clap clap!
The applause in the auditorium was thunderous and the waves of applause grew louder with each round.

This conference will surely be remembered in history, and tomorrow's major newspapers will definitely report on it on their front page.

Subsequently, the board representative, Coxster, announced the final Fields Medal recipient: Andrew Wiles.

Upon hearing the result, Yang Nianzhen, though unwilling, could only sigh helplessly.

The competition for the Fields Medal has been extremely fierce in the past two International Congress of Mathematicians.

Leaving aside the 1986 cohort, let's just talk about this year's cohort. The four confirmed Fields Medal winners are: Wang Duoyu, Bocherz, Edward Witten, and Andrew Wiles.

All four of them are powerful experts, especially Wang Duoyu, who is absolutely invincible and unbeatable.

The other three are not weak either.

Even though Edward Witten and Andrew Wiles are both approaching forty, the fact that they were able to win the Fields Medal is enough to prove their exceptional abilities.

The remaining members, including Burgain, are all extremely powerful.

"The teacher's lineage consists of twelve people. Excluding Li Jun and Li Jianshu, who have already withdrawn from the competition, the remaining members are Rong Guangxia, Gao Huajian, Maxim, Bocherz, Yorkz, Wei Jiahong, Hino Yasuhito, McMullen, and Goss."

"There were ten people in total. Yorkz and Bocherz have already won the Fields Medal. Now it's just me and seven other fellow students left."

"Senior Brother Rong Guangxia only has the 1994 cohort left, while the other fellow disciples can still join in the 1998 cohort."

"I was born in 1961, and there are only two more years left. No, I have to work hard. I must be diligent enough in the time to come. I must win a Fields Medal."

As the only woman in her sect, Yang Nianzhen was not actually favored by everyone.

To date, no woman has ever received the Fields Medal.

There are very few female mathematicians who have made significant contributions to mathematics.

However, Yang Nianzhen is not an ordinary person; she is a genius. She has set her sights on her goals, so she will inevitably work hard for them.

Andrew Wiles could hardly believe his ears. He never expected that the last spot would be his.

It’s incredible!
"Turns out I'm a lucky guy too, haha, this feels great."

Overjoyed, Andrew Wiles kept shaking hands and hugging those around him.

When he stepped onto the podium, he felt as if he were walking on clouds, light and airy, making him feel like he was floating on air.

Actually, at his age, he shouldn't be so prone to showing his emotions so openly.

But this immense joy, this lifelong pursuit, eventually came to an end, and he could not remain unmoved even if Mount Tai collapsed before him.

At this moment, Gelfand, Andre Weil, Drum, and Coxster stood next to Wang Duoyu and his group of four and took photos for everyone.

Only then did they give the stage to Wang Duoyu and his three companions.

Gelfand and his ilk are among the top mathematicians in the world today; their era has long since passed.

Judging from past Fields Medal winners, people of Asian descent are indeed rare.

The American mathematician Xiao Yintang, who is now sitting in the audience, actually had a chance to win the Fields Medal in 1977 or 1978, but he was too young at the time and his research results were somewhat far-fetched, so he was not selected.

Xiao Yintang is now almost fifty years old and has long since passed on his chances of winning the Fields Medal.

Of course, even if he didn't win an award, it wouldn't affect his status or position.

However, he certainly cannot compare to the Chinese mathematicians in the United States, such as Shiing-Shen Chern, Wei-Liang Chou, and Shing-Tung Yau.

Looking at Wang Duoyu, Bocherz, Edward Witten, and Andrew Wiles on the stage who had already received their medals, Burgain was filled with envy.

He also wanted to win the Fields Medal, but unfortunately, he failed to win it again this year.

If he misses out again next year, then he will be completely out of luck with the Fields Medal.

"I never imagined that I, like Aranconne and the others, would have to go through a final, desperate struggle to have any chance of survival!"

Like Andrew Wiles and Edward Witten, Alain Connie was only getting the Fields Medal in his last chance to win it.

The age limit of forty is indeed a great source of pain for these mathematicians.

But there's nothing we can do about it; that's what the rule was from the beginning.

Jean-Baptiste Burgh, the editor-in-chief of the Harbin Institute of Technology Mathematics Journal, is already considering resigning from his job.

He is repeating the same path that Andrew Wiles took years ago.

The Fields Medal presentation concluded amidst applause, and the Newanlina Award ceremony followed.

There is only one winner for this award; the first winner of the Naiwanglinna Award was Wang Duoyu.

This year's Navrinna Prize winner is Zhang Desong, a computational mathematics genius from Harbin Institute of Technology, who has made significant contributions to zero-knowledge proofs.

His results show that the existence of a one-way function with a nontrivial zero-knowledge proof with a single Prover is essential, but the existence of the interaction proof with multiple Provers is not.

This is the first Chinese mathematics researcher, before Wang Duoyu, to have won a top international award in mathematics.

In fact, Zhang Desong was not well-known before, even when he was admitted to the Department of Computational Mathematics at Harbin Institute of Technology.

It wasn't until the Department of Computational Mathematics at Harbin Institute of Technology was split up that he gradually revealed his powerful talent in computational mathematics.

At Harbin Institute of Technology, Zhang Desong has access to far more information than at other universities.

After all, Harbin Institute of Technology has a top-notch mathematics team and holds monthly mathematical exchanges, which are things that no other university in the world has.

Therefore, he was able to stand out from the crowd and successfully win this year's Navrinna Award.

Thank you, Professor Wang.

The award was presented to Zhang Desong by Wang Duoyu, who could be considered half of Wang Duoyu's student. However, in Zhang Desong's heart, Wang Duoyu was his most respected teacher.

This is why he was so excited; it's rare for a teacher to personally present an award to a student like him.

With this event concluded, the Congress of Mathematicians also came to an end.

As the chairman of this conference, Wu Wenjun, announced the successful conclusion of the conference from the podium, applause rang out again in the auditorium.

The conference may have ended, but the exchange of ideas has not.

After this, everyone will travel to cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chongqing, Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bangkok to hold satellite meetings.

It's really just communication within their respective small groups.

After all, in today's mathematics community, there are more and more branches of mathematics, and not every mathematician who gives a report at the International Congress of Mathematicians can cover every branch of mathematics perfectly.

Take linear algebra as an example. This major branch includes vector spaces, systems of linear equations, and linear transformations, and is widely used in fields such as physics and computer science.

There are also several other major branches, such as algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics and probability theory, number theory, mathematical analysis, topology, mathematical logic, discrete mathematics, and mathematical physics.

These numerous branches further encompass other sub-branches.

Therefore, we certainly can't just listen to the gist like before.

Just like the main conference that was just successfully held at Harbin Institute of Technology, 25 people gave reports. Among them, Wang Duoyu's two reports were probably only understood by a small number of people, and most of them had not studied them.

Mathematical geniuses like Wang Duoyu are extremely rare in the mathematics community.

Mathematics is as vast as the ocean, and the ocean of knowledge has no teeth!
After the conference ended, at Wang Duoyu's home, Wang Junhong was still chattering away, as was Zheng Baodong next to him.

After a long while, Wang Junhong suddenly said:
"Dad, what do I need to do if I want to win the Fields Medal?"

"You need to eat properly!"

Wang Duoyu laughed:
"How old are you? Already aiming too high? Don't think about that too much. Wait until you're in college, then you can think about these things."

Zheng Baodong then said:

"Uncle, I want to win the Fields Medal too!"

"Then you'll have to work hard," Wang Duoyu nodded.
"Harbin Institute of Technology has unique resources that you can make use of. You just need to find a direction and work hard. I believe that in a few years you will find that it is actually better to work hard."

what?
Wang Junhong and Zheng Baodong were both dumbfounded.
