Chapter 474: The Death of Magneto
Chapter 474: The Death of Magneto
"Where am I?"
Magneto opened his eyes in a trance. The salty and humid sea breeze not only blew up his hair, but also got into his nose. Magneto frowned slightly, and a fishy smell was also carried into his nose by the sea breeze.
It smelled like a slaughterhouse. After a few seconds, his vision gradually became clear and he could see the surrounding scene clearly, but the first sight gave him a fright.
In front of Magneto stood a strange young man whom he did not recognize. He had curly hair, a high nose bridge, and deep eye sockets, and looked like an Indian. At this moment, the other party had a dull expression, his eyes were unfocused, and his skin was pale. He did not look like a living person at all.
Magneto subconsciously wanted to raise his hand, but found that his hand had never been put down, because his hand was now inserted into the young man's chest, and it was because of his hand that the corpse in front of him did not fall down.
Magneto felt dizzy and staggered backwards. His right hand, which was inserted into the corpse's chest, was pulled out with a "pop" sound. The sound was very disgusting.
The body fell forward without support, but it had just tilted forward when it fell backward at a faster speed and hit the ground with a thud.
Magneto groped backwards with his right hand while staggering, and finally seemed to touch something very cold and hard. He weakly bent his legs and sat directly on the cold object.
It was a throne made entirely of metal. Only the main body of the throne was intact, looking natural and as if it had been born that way. However, the symbol on the backrest was tattered. An X made up of countless metal fragments of different sizes was like a ring surrounding a celestial body, circling rhythmically.
His right hand, covered in blood, hung limply, and Magneto covered his head with his left hand, questioning again.
"Where am I?"
"boom!"
Shocking lightning struck from the sky and landed not far from Magneto, which woke him up. Magneto subconsciously looked up and was shocked by the scene he saw.
It could only be described as corpses strewn all over the ground. Dozens of corpses were like a road, stretching from the end of the island all the way to the throne where he sat.
"This... was done by me?" Magneto's voice trembled, almost squeezed out of his throat.
'We did it.'
A familiar voice suddenly sounded, and Magneto was stunned on the spot. This voice was much harsher to him than the thunder just now, because the owner of that voice belonged to a person who should have died long ago.
Magneto turned his head mechanically, and what caught his eye was the very eye-catching bald head. That person was his best friend whom he missed day and night, Professor X, Charles Francis Xavier, whom he killed with his own hands.
"Charles?" Magneto was shocked. "Why? You should have died long ago?"
"Yes, physiologically I am indeed dead and cannot die any more." Professor X raised his right hand and extended his index finger to draw a line from left to right on his chest. Someone followed suit and drew a line from right to left, forming a big X.
"You cut my body off with the hood of my favorite car. What a bad taste, Max. To be honest, I felt as much pain in my heart as in my body."
"Then how did you survive? I saw you buried with my own eyes."
Magneto couldn't believe what he was seeing. Not only had Magneto been killed by his own hands, he had buried him himself, right in the center of the floating island. He visited him almost every month. It was impossible for someone to dump his body out there without him knowing. "That's because I'm not truly 'alive' now, Max," Professor X spread his hands. "Don't you notice how different I am now than I was then?"
After hearing what Professor X said, Magneto could only suppress his shock and carefully looked at his old friend. He discovered the blind spot almost at first sight.
"You stood up?" Magneto widened his eyes.
"That's right." Professor X chuckled. "I am now just a spirit, so of course I don't have to be constrained by the flesh anymore, but I can only live in your mind."
"In my mind..." Magneto looked blankly at the scene in front of him. In his 'perspective', Professor X was indeed standing in front of him, but in reality there were only a few seagulls standing on a corpse and eating it.
"When you killed me, my mind, facing the great threat of death, used a mental shock on you." Professor X slowly walked towards Magneto.
"Originally, I wanted to shut down your mind before you killed me, but you were too brutal. The immense pain and excessive blood loss prevented me from launching that level of mental attack."
Professor X waved his hand, and the island in the center of the ocean disappeared. When Magneto came to his senses, he had appeared in a small town, which was the town where he killed Professor X.
Following Professor X's guidance, Magneto saw a scene that he would never forget in his life, which was the scene when he killed Professor X.
Professor X, who originally seemed extremely kind to outsiders, now had a ferocious look on his face. He was sitting on a sedan chair made up of zombies. Some of those zombies replaced his originally inconvenient feet, and some emerged like waves, like Magneto floating in the air like a god.
'Of course, this is also inseparable from the help of my good student Jean.' Professor X pointed to a red-haired girl on the battlefield. It was Jean at that time. If it weren't for Jean, Magneto wouldn't even be able to get close to Professor X.
Magneto covered his forehead. He remembered that his brain had indeed received a heavy blow before Professor X died, but since nothing happened afterwards, he didn't pay much attention to it. It seemed that it was at that time that Professor X sneaked into his brain.
"That's what you think." Professor X clapped his hands at Magneto's surprised expression. "Don't be so surprised. I told you I'm in your head now. We're one person now, so I know what you're thinking."
"What on earth do you want to do, Charles?" Magneto lowered his left hand, stood up, and walked towards Professor X. His expression once again became determined. "Why did you manipulate me to kill these people?"
"Control you?" Professor X seemed to have heard the funniest joke and burst into laughter. His distorted expression was nothing like the one Magneto knew.
"Haven't you noticed yet, Max?" Professor X wiped the corners of his wet eyes, wiping away the tears that were not sure if they were caused by laughter or some other emotion.
In the puzzled eyes of Magneto, Charles slowly pronounced the verdict.
'We would have died a long time ago, Max.'
'what? '
Magneto subconsciously turned around while feeling puzzled, and found that there was a person sitting on the throne he had left. The person was wearing red and purple armor, and his left hand, which was like a claw-like glove, was supporting his head, sitting lazily on the throne.
Another breeze blew, and Magneto and Professor X disappeared without a trace like a mirage...
