Chapter 387: Temporarily avoiding the edge
Chapter 387: Temporarily avoiding the edge
"You're such a good boy to your mother."
Circe took Troy, who was a little taller than her, into her arms, and comforted the angry girl like a mother caring for her child. However, where the girl couldn't see, Circe's face was still full of amusement.
"Circe!!!"
Just as Troy was enjoying the tenderness with his mother, a roar like a lioness came over him, shaking the earth. Even the castle where the witch lived shook under the roar.
However, when she heard the roar, Circe was not at all panicked, but showed an expression of disgust. Before Circe could take the next step, Troy in her arms gently pushed her away.
"Whose voice is that, Mom?" Troy frowned, obviously dissatisfied with the uninvited guest who interrupted the mother-daughter relationship and called his mother's name directly.
"You've arrived just in time." A hint of smug joy flashed in Circe's eyes, but her face was filled with panic. "That's the current Wonder Woman. Diana, you killed her creator. She must be furious now. She's here to take revenge on us."
After all, Circe is a very famous witch. Not only Wonder Woman and the magical world know where her residence is, but even some knowledgeable ordinary people may know where she is because it is all written in the mythology.
The mythical Circe, who lived on the island of Elea and liked to turn men into animals, was Circe herself.
Wonder Woman, who knew the suspect's residence, naturally would not waste time. She rushed over immediately after fully armed. As for whether Circe might have been wrongly accused, she did not consider it at all. Wonder Woman planned to beat her up first. Anyway, Circe had caused her a lot of trouble, so even if she just taught her a lesson, Diana would be able to stand her ground.
"It's her," Troy said with a cruel look on his face. "I was just wondering where to find her, but now she's fallen into my trap."
After saying that, Troy immediately turned and walked towards the castle window, wanting to teach Wonder Woman a lesson, but Circe held Troy back.
"Wait, my child." Circe held the puzzled Troy with her right hand and lifted a corner of the girl's robe with her left. "Do you want to face the fully armed Wonder Woman like this?"
This is not because Circe really has any mother-daughter affection for the girl she created. Circe does have feelings for Troy, but this feeling is more like a human being who has just obtained a useful tool. One always has to be careful for a while when using it for the first time. Moreover, the girl is indeed the best toy she has obtained during this period of time. It would be a pity to destroy her like this.
"If you go there like this, the other party might think you are a princess throwing yourself into the arms of a man." Circe tightened the robe around the girl and comforted the unconvinced Troy.
Circe was not intentionally humiliating Troy. It was because the girl looked so much like the princesses or queens in her long-forgotten memories who threw themselves into the arms of ancient Greek heroes. The difference might be that the latter were bolder than the girl.
"Taking shelter from the limelight temporarily doesn't mean being cowardly." Circe waved her hand, and a purple door appeared beside the two of them. Circe could have used a more convenient teleportation magic, but unfortunately Troy was a demigod, and it was difficult for magic to act directly on a demigod. This was why Circe, a magician with immeasurable strength who had survived the Age of Gods to this day, would not cause trouble for Wonder Woman at will.
(Although this isn't a new setting, I'll explain why. Early on, Sersi's magic could be cast directly at Diana, but later on, that wasn't possible because demigods have magic resistance. This is quite reasonable, and one of the few good changes DC made.)
Circe took Troy's hand and walked towards the door. Though reluctant, she was even more unwilling to resist her mother, so she allowed herself to be dragged away. As the two entered, the door gradually disappeared. Wonder Woman and Yang Le, who had finally broken through the magical shield of Elia Island, finally arrived. Wonder Woman didn't hesitate, kicking the castle door to pieces. She entered with a murderous look, sword and shield in hand, followed by Yang Le, who had transformed into an Aesir.
As soon as the two came in, they saw a throne covered with purple satin, and two rows of twisted and terrifying statues on the left and right of the road leading to the throne. Looking at the throne in front of her, Diana immediately imagined Circe sitting on it and posing seductively. She raised her sword and split the throne into two.
But this time it seemed like some mechanism was triggered. The moment the throne was split open, the purple translucent cover trapped Yang Le and Wonder Woman upside down inside. At the same time, the statues began to tremble constantly, and stones kept falling from them.
Yang Le immediately understood that the situation between him and Diana was just like in the game. They must have encountered some unavoidable battle. It was estimated that they could only get out of the purple cover after eliminating all the monsters.
However, reality is not a game, and Yang Le is not prepared to follow the rules. He raised his right hand, poured strength into it, and swung it at the statue that was trying to pounce on him. The moment the statue came into contact with Yang Le's right hand, the huge force crushed it into powder.
Even though the enemy was dead, Yang Le still did not stop his actions. He hit the purple cover with his right fist without reservation. The blue divine thunder burst out immediately, vaporizing the other statues that were ignorant of the danger and wanted to attack Yang Le.
The purple cover didn't last even a second after coming into contact with the divine thunder. Just like glass shattered by a stone, it made a "crack" sound and turned into debris all over the sky, disappearing without a trace.
Yang Le looked at Wonder Woman behind him as if to seek credit. The latter did not look at him, but simply pulled the sword out of the last standing statue and kicked the lifeless statue aside.
After a "bang", the statue turned into pieces of various sizes. Wonder Woman put the sword back into the sheath and pointed it at the surroundings.
"Circe shouldn't be here anymore," Wonder Woman said firmly. "If she were, she wouldn't be able to just use these stupid statues against us. They won't even delay us."
"Then do you know where she went back to?" Yang Le asked.
"I don't know." Wonder Woman shook her head. "Circe is a cunning witch. She won't let anyone find out her true identity. This is the only place I know she could be. The only thing I can be sure of is that this matter is indeed related to Circe, otherwise she wouldn't have any reason to hide from me."
"Then we might as well use the Clock King to take another look and see what's going on here."
