Chapter 1378
"My intelligence is still superior."
In the vast universe, a spaceship no bigger than a basketball court is slowly moving forward, and Vandal Savage, who has escaped Earth, sits on it.
"As expected, my strategy of fleeing Earth immediately after seeing the queen bee killed was the right one."
Vandal sat in the pilot's seat, having already switched the spaceship to autopilot mode. Without needing to pilot it, he began monitoring the situation on Earth.
After witnessing the tragic deaths of Brain and Black Manta, and the destruction of his base by Zul'an, who could not find him, the Vandal once again felt fortunate for his correct decision.
The guy dressed like Batman was completely unpredictable, and Vandal could tell at a glance that he was an uncommunicative madman.
Faced with such a madman, especially a powerful one, Vandal knew that his prized wisdom would have little effect.
Therefore, Vandal's mind made a decision immediately, and he chose to escape in the small spaceship that Apokolips had given him.
At least for now, he has proven to be right; he survived.
"Although it's not quite in line with my plan, at least things are still on the right track."
Vandal leaned back in his chair. Because he had fled in such a hurry, he had only taken the most important things and some supplies necessary for survival. He had left everything else behind.
He naturally did not bring with him his immeasurable wealth, which he had accumulated since the beginning of human history.
After all, if everything really went according to Vandal's plan, then these assets would be of no use either on Apokolips or on Earth, which he was about to rule.
After all, that money was worthless to Darkseid, and once he ruled the Earth, everything on Earth would belong to him, so he wouldn't care about that tiny drop in the ocean.
Of course, all of this should be done in the best possible way.
Vandal glanced at his right arm; his entire fortune was tied to it, and whether he could turn the tide depended on this one move.
Just as Vandal was deep in thought, the spaceship he was on had already entered interstellar travel mode.
With a heavy heart, Vandal watched himself enter the sonic tunnel. When he came to his senses, a huge planet radiating orange-yellow light appeared before him.
This planet looks like a series of circuit boards put together, clearly a highly technological planet, and it's hard to see anything natural on its surface anymore.
Vandal speculated that Apokolips probably didn't actually have any vegetation, even though he had never been there, he had spoken with Darkseid, the ruler of Apokolips.
Even from a brief conversation, it's clear that Darkseid is someone who only values things and has zero tolerance for anything useless.
Since Apokolips frequently wages war against other planets in the universe, Darkseid will definitely transform Apokolips into a powerful fortress.
Vandal admired people like Darkseid, but at the same time, he would never befriend such people; at most, they would only use each other.
Because he understood that once he lost his usefulness, Darkseid would abandon him without hesitation.
Originally, Vandal had envisioned spending a long time talking with Darkseid, but plans always change, and after only two months, he was forced to settle on Apokolips. Under autopilot, the spaceship was entering Apokolips at a steady speed, and as it approached the ground, Vandal immediately noticed the various military facilities on the surface.
Several menacing anti-aircraft cannons were laid out in the open, their mere presence serving as the best warning to any intruders.
After Vandal had finished looking at all the facilities in sight, his spaceship had arrived above the airport and was slowly descending.
At the other end of the airport, Darkseid stood proudly, with two aliens beside him: one slender and clad in a black robe, and the other tall and imposing in iron armor.
Either of them would be a striking presence anywhere else, but in front of the dark king they were surrounding, their presence was negligible.
Darkseid simply stood there, his hands behind his back, yet he seemed as tall as a mountain, as vast and unpredictable as the universe.
Honestly, just looking at the other person made Vandal break out in a sweat; he was sure his back was completely soaked.
“Vandal Savage,” Darkseid said softly. “Apokolips welcomes its allies, but you seem to have arrived much earlier than expected.”
It was clearly a question, but Darkseid's tone didn't carry a trace of doubt; it was as if he were giving a command, ordering Vandal to answer it for him.
As the saying goes, even a powerful dragon can't suppress a local snake. The oldest humans on Earth, who once held sway over the world, could only lower their proud heads in the face of the Dark Lord on Apokolips.
"There was a slight hiccup, so I think we can move our plans forward a little."
Vandal displayed the qualities of a shrewd businessman: telling the truth, but only a little.
Vandal knew that if Darkseid knew he was a stray dog, his standing in Darkseid's eyes would plummet.
At that point, their relationship will no longer be equal, and Darkseid may even forcefully seize what he wants and then kick him aside.
However, Vandal knew that it was precisely at times like these that he should not make a big show of things, because Darkseid was no fool and would definitely be able to see through his lies.
Only by telling this small amount of truth can he maximize his gains in this negotiation.
"Really? I thought you were the kind of person who had everything under control."
Darkseid's expression remained unchanged, but his scarlet eyes sent chills down Vandal's spine.
"Let's get down to business. I think you've brought me what I needed."
Despite his displeasure, Vandal replied in the same tone, maintaining a nonchalant demeanor.
"Of course, allies should help each other. I give you what you want, and you give me what I want. That's a healthy relationship, right?"
Vandal subconsciously tilted his body slightly to the right, which attracted the attention of the man in black robes beside him.
The man in black robes pondered for a moment, then raised his right hand and waved it gently.
