Chapter 1324 Failure Insurance Part 1
Chapter 1324 Failure Insurance (Part 1)
Of course, Roy's ability to take such a big step was not entirely due to his own efforts; Yang Le also helped him along the way.
It was only after listening to his words that the former realized he no longer harbored such resentment towards his former adoptive father.
After all, Roy knew that what happened to him had little to do with the other person. If he blamed Oliver, it would be no different from pointing a gun at an honest person.
Having figured out the key point, Roy naturally came to terms with it and took the initiative to propose a meeting with Oliver and the clones.
Oliver readily agreed, and he also asked Roy if he could invite Yang Le to participate, as he wanted to thank him in person.
“I’m afraid that won’t work,” Roy replied after a moment’s thought. “Yang received a mission from Batman, and he said it will take quite a while, so he probably won’t be able to make it to the weekend party.”
Oliver didn't insist, only sighing that it was a pity, and then discussed with Roy the details of the weekend gathering, including where to have dinner.
Roy also had high expectations for this, but at the same time he was thinking about something else: Yang Le's mission.
The other party didn't say it explicitly, but Roy could still glean some clues from the latter's micro-expressions.
Upon seeing the message from Batman, Yang Le actually frowned. Although Roy hadn't known Batman for long, he had never seen such a troubled expression on his face before.
'I wonder what mission Batman has assigned to Yang. Will he make things difficult for Yang just because I talked back to him a little?'
Soon, Roy was amused by his own thought. If Batman were such a petty person, he wouldn't be able to sit in the position of the Justice League's Big Three, nor would he be able to gain the trust of all the members of the Justice League.
However, even so, Roy couldn't help but let his mind wander and try to deduce the task Batman had assigned to Yang Le.
After all, the timing of Batman's mission arrangements is strange; it was only shortly after he spoke with them yesterday, and no one knows what could be so urgent.
'Perhaps we can subtly ask Robin later to see if he knows about this.'
...
"Hu! Hu! Hu!"
In the sewers of Gotham City, a soaking wet Robin leans against a wall; at this moment, there is practically no other word to describe him but "disheveled."
Robin raised his hand to wipe the water off his face. He couldn't tell if it was sewage from the sewer or his own sweat, but it stung slightly when it got into his eyes.
However, Robin didn't have time to worry about these things at the moment; he needed to spread the news out of Gotham City.
Spread the word that the Batcave has fallen and that Batman and Alfred have been captured.
……
Let's go back to last night. Robin had just finished her day's work and returned home.
"It's a pleasure to see you back safely, Master Dick."
The butler, Alfred, was waiting at the door early in the morning. As soon as Dick came in, he kept looking at the latter, as if he was afraid that something might happen to him.
"Good evening, Alfred. I'm safe and sound today, and even got home a dozen minutes earlier than the past few days."
Dick knew that the old butler was afraid that he would suffer the same fate as the day before yesterday, like being kidnapped by the Jokers.
After hearing about Dick's accident, Alfred was worried for several days. He even became a little more sarcastic when mocking Bruce, showing how concerned he was about Dick. Dick knew this too, and after each mission, he would go home early and stop wandering around Gotham City. He would stay home for at least two weeks.
“Perhaps you could have gone home sooner,” Alfred said meaningfully.
Dick just chuckled. He knew the old butler meant for him to go straight home after school, which meant he should stop being the superhero Robin and go back to being an ordinary boy named Dick.
Initially, Dick became Robin simply to investigate the cause of his parents' deaths, but as time went on, Dick's thoughts changed.
Now, not only to help ordinary people, but also just to help Batman, he can't possibly abandon his identity as Robin.
"Let's not talk about that, Alfred. What's for dinner tonight? I'm starving."
Dick abruptly changed the subject, leaving Alfred helpless, but he still honestly told Alfred about tonight's dinner.
"The main course is lamb chops. Since you guys are very active, I specially fried some extra."
"That's wonderful! I feel like I could eat a whole sheep right now."
Dick rubbed his stomach and then asked, "Is Bruce back? Or is he still in the Batcave? Should I go call him for dinner?"
"It's in the Bat Cave, but I can go and call the master. Young man, you should go to the restaurant for dinner first."
After speaking, Alfred didn't give Dick the right to refuse and walked into the house on his own. Although this behavior was not in line with the status of a butler, it was what a grandfather who dotes on his grandson would do.
Dick simply smiled knowingly and then walked briskly toward the restaurant.
As soon as Dick entered the restaurant, he smelled the aroma of roasted meat. He went to his seat, lifted the food cover, and sure enough, he saw the tempting lamb chops.
The lamb chops, slightly browned from being pan-fried and drizzled with sauce, were tempting the ravenous Dick, making him completely forget his original plan to wait for Bruce to join him for dinner.
Before long, Dick finished his dinner with great relish, and it was at this moment that he noticed something was wrong.
Although he ate the lamb chops at a decent pace, it still took him at least ten minutes. How come Bruce and Alfred still hadn't appeared after all this time?
Because of previous cases of animal viruses, Dick didn't panic this time. Instead, he took out the magic belt he always carried with him.
'It's best if Bruce just wasted his time on research.'
Dick prayed silently, then cautiously made his way towards the bat cave.
As night falls, Wayne Manor loses its morning British luxury and instead exudes a sense of historical dread, as if it were a vampire's mansion.
"Speaking of which, Batman was initially mistaken for a vampire by some people."
Dick encouraged himself with amusing thoughts, but at the same time, he didn't dare to let his guard down for a moment, always paying attention to his surroundings.
"Hmm?" Roy frowned. "Are there any red lights in the house?"
The moment the idea popped into Robin's head, he immediately realized that the red thing wasn't an indoor light, but rather a giant eyeball.
