Chapter 1312
Chapter 1312
Roy had been harboring resentment for a long time, after all, he had been imprisoned for so long, had his hand cut off for research, and had his life replaced for several years.
Everyone can become abnormal, so Yang Le's mission is to guide rather than suppress. Many super criminals have gone astray because of their frustration.
So this time, Yang Le let Roy run wild whenever he had the chance. Anyway, the idiots from the Joker Gang would only make rice expensive if they stayed in the world, so it would be better to make use of them and help Roy solve his psychological problems.
Sure enough, with the mechanical arm built by Yang Le and after so many days of training, Roy was simply shoving fish in the sand when he was dealing with this motley crew of clown gang henchmen.
Attacks from clubs, swords, and knives can be completely blocked by the strength of the mechanical arm itself, and bullets fired from guns also have energy shields.
As long as Roy plays it safe, these henchmen won't even be able to break through his defenses. It's more like ants stepping on an elephant than an adult beating a child.
Roy's only frustration was that clearing out the soldiers was too slow. His only powerful weapon was his charged fist, but even with the grappling hook, it was still too slow.
As Roy cleared out the enemy, the battle between Batman and the Joker was also drawing to a close.
Because of his arm injury, the Joker, who was already at a disadvantage in close combat, was now even less of a match for Batman.
Batman unleashed a barrage of left and right hooks, leaving the Joker utterly defenseless. Before long, the Joker was teetering on the brink of collapse.
"You're still the same as always, showing no regard for the past." The clown leaned against the railing, blood dripping from his mouth and nose, but even in this disheveled state, a smile still lingered on his lips.
"Speaking of which, I didn't invite you to this party. Uninvited guests should be punished."
As the clown spoke, he placed his hand on his belt and pressed a button hidden on the side.
"Snapped!"
A tiny popping sound was heard; it turned out that the rope suspending Barbara had snapped. It seemed that the Joker had made prior arrangements.
However, the panicked expression the Joker had anticipated from Batman did not appear; the latter didn't even turn his head, which made the Joker's heart sink.
Sure enough, the device that Batman had placed on Barbara's back beforehand took effect. It was triggered the moment she fell less than a meter, and a rope shot out with a "biu".
The metal nail at the end pierced through the ceiling and unfolded, getting stuck in the ceiling, thus stopping Barbara's free fall.
“An emergency safety device,” Batman explained coldly. “Its internal equipment activates immediately upon a rapid fall, firing a spike connected to a metal rope with enough force to pierce through a concrete wall.”
"The maximum load capacity of the device can reach one ton."
"Thanks for your explanation, really." The Joker said this with a forced smile, then pulled out his pistol, pointed it at Batman, and pulled the trigger without saying a word.
"boom!"
After the gunshot, no bullets were fired; only a white flag with a clown pattern was ejected from the barrel.
...
After Batman dealt with the Joker, Roy had also taken care of most of the Joker's gang members, and the remaining henchmen had long since scattered.
Half of their companions had fallen, and their leader had been captured. The morale of most gangs would have collapsed long ago. The Joker Gang was able to hold out for so long simply because they were mentally unstable.
Because it was Gotham's internal affair, Batman did not notify the Justice League after it was properly resolved, but instead went to the Gotham Police Department.
After all, most of the members arrested this time were henchmen of the Joker's gang, and the only big fish was the Joker himself, so calling the police was the more reasonable course of action. Most importantly, Barbara's father, Gordon, is the commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department.
"I really don't know how to thank you, Batman."
Gordon helped Barbara into the ambulance, then sincerely thanked Batman behind him.
"I just did what I was supposed to do." Batman remained calm and composed, while Robin behind him looked somewhat disheveled.
Gordon also noticed that behind Batman, besides Robin, there was another person he didn't recognize dressed like a special forces soldier.
"I've never seen you before. Are you Batman's new sidekick? Thanks to you this time, otherwise Barbara would have been..."
"It's alright, Director."
Roy had just finished beating up a bunch of clown gang henchmen, and he was feeling refreshed. His voice had become much more cheerful, and anyone who heard him would think he was a sunny and good young man.
Of course, this is without looking at the Joker gang henchmen who were defeated by Roy; the least serious injuries they suffered were broken bones.
Gordon was used to this, though. Batman's hands weren't necessarily lighter than Roy's; in fact, they were even heavier when the former first started out. But these Gotham villains were just scoundrels at heart.
Even if you break their legs, who knows, after a while some wheelchair-bound thug might pop up, riding in a modified rocket-powered wheelchair and sprinting down the street!
Moreover, the person kidnapped this time was Gordon's own daughter. Although he is known as the most competent police officer in many years, he is still a human being and has selfish desires.
Gordon himself was so angry he wanted to kill those thugs, though he only thought about it in his mind. But that shows how angry he was.
One can imagine what kind of "education" awaits these clown gang henchmen at the police station.
"But I'm not Batman's sidekick; I'm just here to help."
"I see. But thank you very much anyway."
Gordon nodded. Although he had a lot of questions, he knew what he should ask and what he shouldn't ask after dealing with Batman for so many years.
It's best to ask as few questions as possible about superheroes, lest someone with ulterior motives overhear.
Gordon wanted to say something more, but then he heard one of his subordinates call his name. He finished his work and turned back.
"I knew it." Gordon scratched his head helplessly; sure enough, no one was behind him anymore.
"I should have gotten used to it by now after all these years."
...
After saying goodbye to Gordon, Batman and his group went to a hideout for easier conversation, mainly for Batman to ask Robin questions.
"You mean the Joker called you first?" Batman frowned. "If that's the case, then your identity should have been exposed, and even my identity should have been exposed."
“Yes.” Robin nodded; he had already thought of this. “So I’m thinking of asking Martian Girl or Martian Manhunter to help erase the Joker’s memory.”
