Chapter 1292 The Birth of the Raven
Chapter 1292 The Birth of the Raven
Yang Le's guess was not unfounded.
According to verification, Rachel knew about having a demon father since she was old enough to understand, and the people of Azeroth also constantly instilled in her just how terrifying the Trinity Demon was.
This was to prevent Rachel from succumbing to temptation and accidentally falling into the arms of the Trigon.
However, it was precisely for this reason that a thought unconsciously took root in Rachel's little mind: that the Triple Demon was unbeatable.
These weren't things that Rachel figured out on her own, but rather things that were instilled in her by the environment she grew up in, that is, by the people around her.
Aside from the deceased goddess of Azeroth, everyone around her, including Rachel's mother, told her that the Trinity Demon could not be destroyed.
All the mother and daughter could do was hide and seek refuge.
The story of Mencius' mother moving three times illustrates how the environment in which a child grows up can have a huge impact on their entire life.
Everyone around her was terrified of the Trigon, so naturally Rachel was influenced, and her little mind was thus formed with that image.
Even Yang Le had to admit that the Three Palaces Demon was indeed very strong; among all the little broken watches, there were probably no more than one hand that could rival him.
If he really has to fight the Three Palaces Demon, Yang Le will definitely fight in his X-Man form and will never resort to any fancy tricks.
After all, Sangu Mako is no ordinary enemy; fighting him could very well result in an accidental death.
If even Yang Le treated the Triple Demon this way, then it's no surprise that Rachel, who grew up in such a high-pressure environment, would genuinely fear the Triple Demon.
Once a person's mindset is fixed, changing it becomes extremely difficult.
Yang Le didn't have any particularly good solutions to this. At this point, the only thing he could do was to let time pass and gradually shift Rachel's mindset.
So the next step is simple: find a group of fearless children and slowly fill Rachel's heart with fear.
This is why Yang Le brought Rachel with him when he went to work at the Young Justice League.
“From today onwards, she is your new team member.” Yang Le said, looking at the members of the Young Justice League standing in front of him like Boy Scouts.
"Another little kid?" Kid Lightning looked at Rachel. "She's only ten years old, isn't she?"
"Older than Beast Boy, the same age as Damian and Cassandra."
Yang Le explained briefly, then patted Rachel on the shoulder and encouraged her, "Don't be nervous, introduce yourself."
Rachel wasn't nervous at all. As long as it didn't involve anything related to the Trinity, her mental fortitude was better than that of many adults.
She knew exactly what she needed and understood why Yang Le wanted her to join the Young Justice League.
“My name is Rachel. I used to live in Azeroth and only recently came to Earth. I don’t know much about things on Earth, so please forgive me if I have offended anyone.”
"During missions, you can call me by my code name, Raven."
Thus, the famous Raven from DC Comics was born. This name was decided after discussions between Rachel and Yang Le, with the latter contributing significantly. "Hello Raven, welcome to the team," Robin naturally stepped forward. "I am the captain of this team, the Young Justice League. You can call me Robin, or by my real name, Dick."
Although Robin still harbors resentment towards Sea Boy's betrayal, he at least doesn't show it on the surface.
Like him were a few others, including Lightning Boy. They had held a meeting a few days ago and unanimously agreed that instead of being sentimental, they should try to bring Sea Boy back, preferably before he made a serious mistake.
Next, Robin introduced everyone present to Raven, and the older children all showed the same friendliness towards her.
"Raven is a synesthetic; she can sense the emotions and states of those around her, much like Martian telepathy, but she cannot know the explicit thoughts of others."
"At the same time, she is also a magician who has learned a lot of magic since childhood. With her around, she should be able to help Zatanna share a lot of the pressure."
Zatanna is the only sorcerer among the current members of the Young Justice League, which makes her role similar to a brick, to be moved wherever needed.
Although the Young Justice League doesn't often encounter magic-based enemies, if the split teams do encounter them simultaneously, Zatanna will undoubtedly be much more exhausted.
Being constantly in communication is the least of your worries; the worst-case scenario is having to travel back and forth between the two places.
It was truly a case of not opening for three years, and then working hard for three years after opening. She herself had suggested that the Young Justice League recruit another magician, but it was easy to imagine that this would be a very difficult thing.
Now that they've finally found another mage, Zatanna's gaze towards the raven is probably the friendliest one in the entire room.
"However, there is something I need to make clear beforehand."
Yang Le changed the subject and then very seriously told the story of the Three Palaces Demon. He was not one of those unscrupulous bosses who would reveal both the hidden dangers and benefits in advance, which was in line with his values.
"Not long ago, I dispelled the Trigon Demon from Raven, but this is only temporary, and that demon could return at any time."
"Robin, you're the captain. I need you to keep a close eye on Raven's condition during the operation. Report any unusual activity to me immediately, understand?"
“Yes.” Robin replied with equal seriousness.
Although he didn't know exactly what the Three Palaces Demon was, judging from Yang Le's unprecedentedly serious demeanor and Zatanna's change of expression upon hearing the name, he estimated that it was at least an enemy of the level of Mongo.
"Very well, that's all I wanted to say. You're free to do as you please now."
After Yang Le finished speaking, he gave Raven a couple more words of encouragement and then left. It was the children's time to play, and it would be difficult for them to perform if he, an adult, stayed behind.
As expected, as soon as Yang Le left, the children swarmed around him. Led by the Martian girl, the girls surrounded Raven, asking her questions, mostly about the other world.
Only Zatanna hesitated after hearing the name of Sangu Mako, until the Beast Boy, who was lagging behind, noticed her and asked her.
"Zatanna, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Then everyone noticed that Zatanna was acting strangely and asked her what was wrong.
"Phew~" Zatanna let out a long breath. "You guys didn't grow up in a magical family, so you really have no idea how prestigious the name 'Sangokuma' is."
