Chapter 1259 It’s hard to survive alone
"Next time, we should let Guy do this job."

John glanced back briefly and, seeing the overwhelming barrage of energy bullets, immediately turned around and used his Green Lantern Ring to conjure a massive shield.

Countless bullets struck the shield, creating ripples. Knowing he couldn't hold out much longer, John quickly took the opportunity to gain altitude and fly out of the attack range.

"I have no other choice now."

John first sent the information about his exposure to Hal, and then a beam of light flew out of the ring and transformed into four Gatling guns.

Before the enemy could react, the four machine guns began to spin simultaneously, unleashing a torrent of light bullets that rained down on the pursuing scarab warriors like a curtain.

"Try this, you alien hicks!"

The scarab warriors flying at the forefront soon met their end. Fortunately, the scarab armor was sturdy enough, otherwise they would have been instantly reduced to nothing in this energy storm.

The scarab warriors who lagged behind naturally wouldn't sit idly by. They quickly assigned roles, with some raising shields to protect their immobilized comrades.

Others flew to suitable positions and continued firing at John to cover their comrades.

The subsequent scarab warriors avoided the line of fire, so they were outside the machine gun's firing range, forcing John to remove the machine gun to evade the attack.

This left the remaining scarab warriors without a suppressive force. Leaving behind their companions to repair their armor, the rest swarmed forward to try and overwhelm John.

John naturally saw through their intentions and would never let them succeed. The lamp ring transformed into a pair of huge hands, swatting away the scarab warriors who wanted to approach as if swatting mosquitoes.

But just as humans can't kill mosquitoes every time they try, some always slip through John's fingers, and a scarab warrior is already at his doorstep.

John, with his considerable combat experience, immediately transformed into a sword, blocking the slashes of the scarab warrior who broke through to his side. The high-tech blade, which had been invincible before, was useless against willpower.

The stronger your willpower, the stronger your lamp ring will be. John gritted his teeth and used all his strength to actually cut a gap in the opponent's weapon.

The Scarab Warrior, who was the opponent, obviously did not expect that his armor, which he relied on for survival, would be no match for his opponent. John seized the opportunity when he was stunned and kicked him.

While kicking, John also made himself a spiked shoe using his lamp ring, which damaged the surface armor while kicking away his opponent.

While dealing with this one enemy, the other scarab warriors also pounced on him.

John acted decisively, extending his sword several feet into the air before turning and slashing horizontally. Some of the scarab warriors who couldn't dodge in time were immediately damaged.

Fortunately, the scarab beetle uses nanotechnology, allowing it to continuously repair its armor while being damaged. Other creatures would probably only be able to pray that they can survive in space.

John knew this would never end, and that the lightsaber was just a delaying tactic. So, after dispelling the lightsaber, he took the initiative and charged at a scarab warrior.

After the fierce battle, he realized that these colorful scarab warriors were not as powerful as the black scarab on Earth.

It's important to understand that every scarab is identical. The only reason that can cause fluctuations in the combat power of scarab warriors is the synchronization rate between the parasitized individual and the scarab.

Just like Green Lantern's willpower, the Scarab Warrior values synchronization rate above all else; the higher the synchronization rate, the more powerful the warrior. A Scarab Warrior with a high synchronization rate can even directly strip a warrior of their Scarab from a lower-synchronization-rate warrior.

This is unlike the surgical removal performed by Yang Le. Unless you don't have a deep connection with the parasitic scarab, if the scarab has already become involved in the activities of some organs in your body, then once you are deprived, you are not far from death.

The scarab warriors fighting John were even less capable than the green scarab on Earth; they were probably either green recruits or just too slow to improve their synchronization rate.

This gave John some information: these people had not yet been completely controlled by the scarabs. After all, once they were completely controlled, they would at least be at the level of the green scarabs.

These guys are probably just new recruits. Since they're using themselves as training grounds, these lawless individuals don't even respect Green Lantern.

Feeling slighted, John was furious. Skipping the formalities, he simply used the lamp ring to release a beam of light, which, compressed into a straight line, instantly pierced the armor of a scarab warrior.

Green rays emanated from his body. Even though the scarab beetle repaired itself in time, the host was still seriously injured. Logically, he should have retreated to heal his wounds here.

But the scarab warrior in front of them charged forward again as if nothing had happened.

"Has it been taken over?" John made the judgment. It was impossible for a normal creature to have no reaction at all after suffering such a penetrating wound. Clearly, the scarab beetle had taken control at this moment.

This left him with no choice but to hold back. John didn't want to kill more, but if he continued to hold back, he might not even be able to hear the main force before being worn down.

With that thought, John raised his right hand, which was adorned with the lamp ring, and the next second, a dazzling green light illuminated this part of the universe.

However, these lights are not just for show; they are actually John's indiscriminate attacks, and any enemy within the range of these lights will be attacked by energy.

When the light faded, the scarab warriors who were slow to escape had already turned into cosmic debris. Even those who had managed to escape were terrified and hovered in the distance, not daring to make any rash moves.

"I haven't been this tired in a long time," John said, panting heavily.

John couldn't remember the last time he had single-handedly dealt with so many troublesome enemies; he had even depleted a significant amount of energy in his lamp ring.

"Hurry up, Hal, hurry up!" John said calmly. "If you don't come soon, you'll only see my picture at my funeral."

"Then forget it, John. I don't want to be alone on Earth watching over Guy."

John breathed a sigh of relief at the familiar, confident, and slightly flippant voice; he knew he was safe.

Sure enough, the next second several energy attacks passed over him from behind and struck the scarab warriors floating in the distance.

John turned around and saw Superman, Hal, Martian Manhunter, and the massive mechanical planet that filled his field of vision.

“I bet you miss me, John, a lot right now,” Hal teased as he leaned closer.

John sighed and said, "You were right this time."
