Chapter 1117
The world's greatest detective, based solely on the information at hand, deduced a highly probable answer.
Now, Batman's biggest concern isn't finding out who the mastermind is, but rather where exactly Robin was attacked.
He boldly hypothesized that Robin had not been cloned or magically switched, making the location where the control chip was attached to Robin particularly important.
If Robin was infected on his way home, that would be fine, because in that case he would most likely be the only one infected.
However, if Robin was infected while working with his fellow Young Justice League members, then that implies two terrible facts.
First, there must be a traitor within the Justice League or Young Justice League, because Batman doesn't believe Robin would have failed to warn them when given a game that could have destroyed them.
Secondly, the Young Justice League has most likely been completely wiped out.
Given the current time, it's already time for most superheroes to go home. If the entire Young Justice League has been affected, it means that what happened in the Batcave could very well be happening simultaneously in other people's homes.
It's not that Batman doesn't trust his colleagues; it's just that some of them are too unreliable.
Batman placed the chip into the analyzer and, while waiting for the results, tried to open the communication device to check the situation, but he froze as soon as he opened it.
At this point, Batman couldn't be sure whether anyone else besides himself was being controlled, and he was now trapped in a predicament in the dark jungle.
Batman is unsure whether he will be attacked if he reveals that he is not under control.
Just as he was thinking about how to break out of his current predicament, Batman suddenly found his communicator ringing.
Upon closer inspection, he discovered that the person contacting him was Yang Le. Thinking of Cassandra, the fighting coach of the Young Justice League, Batman hesitated whether to answer the call.
Ultimately, Batman decided to answer the call because, given that Yang Le was under control, answering the call might not expose him, while not answering would definitely expose him.
After the communication was established, the bat fell silent. It was obviously better to wait for the other party to speak first.
Yang Le did not disappoint him, and as expected, he was the first to break the silence.
"Hey old bat, have you been infected yet?"
Batman frowned slightly and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Literally, did Robin attack you with a chip that looked like a piece of meat after she went back? That thing is a control chip based on Starro the Conqueror. Once that thing is attached to you, it's almost like being parasitized by Starro."
"The biggest difference is that you won't have a one-eyed starfish on your head."
Yang Le had almost finished unpacking the chip when Batman, looking at the still-operating analysis machine beside him, didn't stop it, adhering to the principle of being cautious in everything he did.
If what Yang Le said is true, then his analysis machine should be able to analyze the Starro gene contained in the chip, and based on this, he can tell whether Yang Le is a friend or foe.
Batman remained silent, but after spending several days together, Yang Le understood his meaning and continued speaking.
“I guess you’ve figured it out by now. That’s right, there’s a traitor among us. It’s Red Arrow, and he’s already used that chip to control almost all the members of the Young Justice League.”
Hearing this, Batman paused, and asked, "Red Arrow is a traitor?"
“Yes,” Yang Le said with certainty. “I personally witnessed him attaching the chips to Robin and the others. I was even his first target. However, because of the nanobots I developed, I quickly regained my senses after being controlled.”
"However, in order not to alert the enemy and to lure out the real culprit, I did not rush to make a move. Because of the transmission device on the chip, I modified the chip to pretend that I was still being controlled."
"A good choice," Batman praised, now almost convinced of Yang Le's abilities.
“That’s not all,” Yang Le said with a boastful tone. “I’ve developed a biological EMP bomb that can destroy these chips. Now, even if the mastermind behind it all controls the entire Justice League, we’re not afraid.”
"Once the biological EMP bomb explodes, all the chips will be destroyed in an instant. All we need to do now is wait for the mastermind to make his appearance."
“The Illuminati,” Batman said slowly. “They were most likely behind this, but I never imagined that Red Arrow was their spy.”
“Let’s not jump to conclusions about Red Arrow yet,” Yang Le interjected. “I have sources who say that the Roy Hubble we’re seeing now is a clone, and the real Roy was replaced several years ago.”
Batman gripped the communicator tightly and said, "Is the information reliable?"
"That depends on your criteria. I think this news is just as reliable as I am."
With Superboy as a cautionary tale, Yang Le's words were naturally quite credible. However, Batman hadn't expected the enemies to be so ruthless, and he also felt sorry for Green Arrow.
Batman dared not imagine what it would be like if this happened to him and Dick.
Yang Le was of course unaware of Batman's sentimentality; even if he had known, he would have only grumbled inwardly.
'You don't need to worry about that at all, because your second assistant will suffer a similar fate to Roy, except the latter was cloned, while the former will be used as a hockey puck with a crowbar.'
“We need to find the real Roy,” Batman said seriously. “To do that, we need to capture a high-ranking member of the Illuminati. Yang, I think we should put our plans together.”
“That’s exactly what I wanted to say,” Yang Le nodded. “Neither Diana, Cassandra, nor I are under control. I’ll also break Donna’s control in a bit. Shall we meet at the Batcave?”
“Yes.” Batman picked up the test results, which indeed showed Starro’s genes.
"See you in ten minutes."
...
In the luxurious, spacious office, Luther stared at the briefcase on his desk.
The suitcase was open, and the upright half contained a monitor that displayed a dense array of simple pixelated human heads.
How many people have been apprehended so far?
Luther turned his head toward the direction from which the sound came, and Ninja Master Lei Xiaogu slowly emerged from the shadows.
"We have twenty-two people under control so far. According to Red Arrow's report, the Young Justice League has been wiped out, and the superheroes who were assisted by these side heroes are also starting to fall victim to the virus."
