Chapter 1110 The Mission of the Clone Roy
Chapter 1110 The Mission of the Clone Roy
Ultimately, the Young Justice League decided to throw a party to celebrate Donna's promotion, while Robin and the others didn't forget their old friend, Roy the Red Arrow.
"I'll call and inform him."
Kid Flash volunteered to take on the task of making the notification. As the former joker in the team, he not only had a good relationship with the Young Justice League members, but also with many Justice League members.
By the way, the latest generation of pistachios is Pulse Bart, and making everyone happy is probably a tradition passed down from the Lightning family.
Lightning Boy took out his personal phone, swiped a few times, tapped lightly, and finally put the phone to his ear.
"really weird?"
After a while, Kid Flash put down his phone and said, "Roy didn't answer the phone, that's not like him."
Robin didn't think much of it and replied, "What's so strange about that? Roy is an independent hero, and his mission schedule isn't fixed. Maybe he's on a mission right now and didn't bring his personal phone."
Robin's suggestion won everyone's agreement, and they ultimately decided to throw a party for Donna first, while Roy would wait until he saw the missed calls from Kid Flash before making any further plans.
If all else fails, Robin and a few of his old friends can just arrange another one for him separately. Anyway, Roy is only familiar with those few people. Not to mention the Beast Boys and others who joined later, even Wonder Girl isn't particularly close to him.
Everyone quickly put this little incident out of their minds. After all, they didn't know when a mission would come, so they shouldn't think about anything else when they were having fun.
...
"You mean, you've been selected as a full member of the Justice League?"
In front of the dazed Roy the Red Arrow, the athletic champion sat imposingly on a single sofa and asked a question in the tone of a superior.
"Yes, just now, I received a notification from Green Arrow that I need to report to the Hall of Justice soon to register my identity."
"Looks like Old Green Arrow really treats you like his own son." The athlete patted the sofa and laughed heartily.
"Even though you treated him like that, Old Green Arrow still kept coming to inform you. He treated you better than a father would treat his own son. I wonder what he'll think when he finds out you're a clone?"
Despite the athletic champion's uproarious laughter, Roy, under hypnosis, showed no reaction whatsoever, like a puppet on a string, refusing to respond without any instruction.
Even the funniest joke loses its appeal after a while if you just laugh to yourself. The fact that the athlete was standing in front of a wooden figure that wouldn't react made it even less interesting for him.
"Tsk, how boring," the athlete clicked his tongue in displeasure. "Luckily, my daughters have all turned over a new leaf with me. If I were to live such a failed life like Old Green Arrow, I might as well go home and be a rich old man."
"Alright." The athlete stood up. "Although the situation has changed quite a bit, now that you've joined the Justice League, it's time for you, as a pawn, to play your final role."
As he spoke, the athlete walked to the box he had initially placed on the table. After straightening the box, he entered the password and opened it.
When the box was opened, it revealed a series of strangely shaped badges, each about the size of a thumbnail. Each badge had an eerie pinkish sheen and looked utterly repulsive, like chunks of flesh. If these things were to wriggle a few more times, just looking at them would make one want to vomit.
"The names of these chips are too complicated for me to remember," the athlete said, picking up a chip. "But the usage is very simple. You just need to stick it above the target's neck, and the chip will do the rest itself."
"Here's a suggestion: it would be best to take down those smart guys in the alliance first. That would make things much easier. There are a hundred chips here, which should be enough for you. Of course, if you need more, just contact me."
At this point, the athlete was about to turn and leave when he stopped and turned to Roy as he was about to reach the door.
"By the way, you must remember that if things are exposed or your mission fails for other reasons, you must immediately destroy yourself and not reveal a single thing about the Illuminati."
After saying that, the athlete left Red Arrow's bachelor apartment without looking back. He wasn't wearing his Jason cosplay outfit; he was just wearing casual clothes, so he wasn't worried about being seen.
After the athlete closed the apartment door, it took Roy about ten seconds to regain consciousness. In a daze, Roy instinctively covered his head, feeling a little dizzy.
"Maybe it's because I haven't been sleeping well lately?"
Roy took a few steps back and sat on the sofa, muttering to himself. He shifted his position and noticed that the leather sofa wasn't as cool as it used to be; it was rather warm. He wondered if it was just his imagination.
Just as Roy sensed something was amiss, the mental cue he'd set up made him naturally ignore everything about the athlete, including the evidence he'd left behind. With nothing else to do, he picked up his phone from the coffee table and discovered that besides the message from Green Arrow, there was also a missed call.
When Roy opened the call, he found it was Wally calling him. With questions in mind, he called back and after a brief conversation, he realized that he wasn't the only one who had passed the review; the magical girl Donna had also done so.
When Wally called him, it was not only to share good news, but also to offer to throw him a party. Roy readily agreed and promised to come over after his mission that day was over.
Urged on by Wally's insistence that he "must come," Roy laughed and hung up the phone. He then began preparing to pack his gear. He had a protection mission today, a paid job that he had to do.
Since he stopped accepting Green Arrow's help, he has been making a living by taking on odd jobs. Although it's not as easy as before, he's still living a carefree life.
Roy opened the briefcase containing the bow and began packing the arrows he would bring on this mission. Since it was a low-risk mission, Roy didn't plan to bring too many high-powered arrows.
Two low-powered explosive arrows are enough, just in case. Roy prefers to bring more riot control arrows with functions such as electric shock, and two nets are also acceptable.
While organizing the arrows, Roy's hand unconsciously reached for the box containing the chips. He quietly counted out fifteen chips from the box and put them into the waist pouch of his uniform.
Throughout the entire process, Roy didn't feel anything was wrong at all, as if he were holding an arrow instead of a chip.
